I picked this up today for $2. I've never played it before, so what am I in for?

Just play the fucking game.

Don't read any guides or walkthroughs.

EE is fine but overall it's a cashgrab and Beamdog are hacks.

BG I starts off very slowly, courtesy of low-level AD&D.

You can start with BG II, which offers more varied quests and high-level gameplay, but it is obviously advised against if you want to form some emotional connections with the characters and understand the plot.

You might want look through the manual.

Low-level AD&D is pretty much all classes wielding slings/bows.

You'll either really enjoy it or die to the first enemy and never touch it again.

>I picked this up today for $2.
Damn I spent $16 on mine

Just think about all those video games you could have gotten with that $14

I bought this for $10.

That's a pretty neat looking box
>17 CD's

It's just 8 games, others are expansions.
And two of those games are crap, but it's still a nice collection.

This is a pretty good summary overall. It's worth building a habit of hitting quicksave often as people can die very quickly in BG I.

A hot tip that doesn't ruin the game but might confuse you if you are used to other RPG games: Low numbers for THAC0 and AC is good.

A long ass adventure

MOI 'OTEL'S AS CLEAN AS AN ELVEN ARSE

I live in Australia so not much

A good RPG with atrocious combat and overpowered magic.

IT'S MOI OL INN'S AS CLEAN AS AN ELVEN ARSE YOU PLEB

Played it a bit, and the one playstyle you absolutely MUST get behind is the willingness to let your characters either be replaced or killed off. It's anathema to the preservation instincts of pretty much anything in modern gaming, but if you don't do that, then you find yourself clearing out the gnoll fortress without Minsc in your party and the game for some damn reason won't recognize you as having completed any sort of quest at all.

Also, the first wizard you find, Xzar or whatever, totally fucking sucks. Preserving him is a waste of effort. Don't let the leveling system fool you- not all characters are created equal, and some, like Xzar, are meant to be fodder, NOT to be powered up until they can match their peers.

You're a clear fellow.

Congrates you bought sjw games you must be so proud.

But Baldur's Gate is before Bioware got cucked!

They fell to the SJWs, every game they made must be completely disregarded now, any awards null and voided, and anyone who declares enjoyment from their past games under immediate suspicion for being a closet SJW, just as a disgraced scientist upon being outed for duplicitous behavior, everything he does MUST be considered suspect and invalid.

...

I bet you fuck outside your race you pathetic little piece of shit.

If he got the BeamDog versions, I'd agree, but he got the OGs by the looks of it. Like the above user said, this was pre nu-Bioware
>every game they made must be completely disregarded now, any awards null and voided, and anyone who declares enjoyment from their past games under immediate suspicion for being a closet SJW
Oh wait, you're just baiting, my bad. Forget I said anything.

It is THAT mentality that allows them to worm their way into hobbies. There must be harsh reprisal for ANY SJW influence in a person's work, to punish those that stray from the proper path.

You are in for a world of pain if you never played any D&D before or any game similar to them.

If it wasnt for the Storymode of EE, i wouldnt have put down the 100+ hours you need to beat this shit, seriously i cant even imagine the shit you would need to do to finish the damn thing.

EE?
