Self Destruct is incredibly useful for breaking enemy defense. It scatters them like roaches forcing them to abandon their formation. It also is useful at keeping attackers off of a point you already control. Only shitters who think they should be able to press Q and get 6 kills think Self Destruct is a bad ult.

And extremely easy to negate. Compare with an ult like Mei's which penetrates barriers (except Zarya's which only covers two people max and last a fraction of the ult) slows and freezes everyone caught in it and can still cover the entire objective, which is all you need.
