Upkeep makes the game unique, massing units is a risky strategy instead of having it be the only way to go like every other RTS out there. And high unit HP makes the game more micro-intensive and skillful insted of it just being about clashing deathballs.

Nigger what are you talking about? Mass towers was a very popular strategy, as was tower pushing, just look up any pro matches with players like ToD or Sky. Not to mention cheesy tower rushes and tower creeping in Reign of Chaos.

Because you don't just put them there and stare at them, you use something like a hero to bait them into pushing in and/or to pick them off seriously I still have replays of myself towering the fuck up.

I just remember towers being more impressive in W2, only catapults were amazing agaisnt them.

remember that their other RTS title was only finally done 1½ years ago, and blizzard works pretty slowly

If you're playing Reign of Chaos, towers are pretty tough and only fall to siege damage however in TFT they changed the armor type from fortified so now towers are weak, but cheap. Orcs can get a fortified armor upgrade, humans can get the portable tower for hilarious tower pushes (and also when you teleport into places you're not supposed to reach and troll the shit out of the enemy).

Which was clearly not enough, he should have followed in the footsteps of masters ToD and th000 and build at least 400000.

Keep 4 races
Add subfactions to each race
ORC
- Standard
- Ogre (more ogre units/upgrades etc)
- Troll faction (more troll units/upgrades etc)

This way there are 4 main races but each has variants so mirror matches aren't 1:1 all the time.

More emphasis on economy/expanding, more emphasis on wood in economy.

Creep camps respawn and can be controlled - creates map control / choke points you can build on to control XP gain. Units all cost more gold, no tax at high upkeep, and losing units doesn't give enemy xp, only creeps give xp.

Night Elves are so good that even when you lose with them you still get OP music.

Even if it were made it would be made by modern blizzard.

WoW decimated all the cool lore in the WC universe.

Welp, they have so much lore in WC it would be stupid to do the route of 1 race with a small selection of units.

But for balance that's important.

So like, each race has a default lineup, and 3 sub factions with unique changes.

So the troll one would replace grunt with a ranged troll, replace say kodo beasts with a troll master berserker, etc. So it would be themed but share a lot of units with other orc factions/default.

Then the map system would change. Creeps respawn so it becomes important to control creep areas. This can be done with choke points and some special way to reinforce them. Not exactly sure but the idea would be you control/reinforce / build defenses on certain chokes to control creep areas. In addition economy changes a lot so that expanding becomes important and wood also important. So you have economic aspect and creep / xp aspect. You can build defenses to defend economy or control more of creeps.


The idea of wc3 was good but it needs some tweaks to be an amazing game.

If they repeated the same mistake of Sc2's arcade with its retarded default search by popularity then probably. That shit pretty much killed any motivation to make a map since no one would ever play it, and if it wasn't that then the overburdened map maker compared to the World Editor was a huge turn off.

WC3 was the only game I've ever played where matchmaking was actually a good thing (for 1v1s only). The system was so simple and effective. Then came patch 1.14 that ruined it entirely and the ladder became filled with abusers/lossbotters.
