>3rd on pace to sell about as much as SC did, suggesting an active purchasing fanbase on steam
>Cold Steel PC port coming out this summer, may even be the game that hits it big. Think 500k sales.
>Just a matter of time until we hear about crossbell localization
Are we in the best timeline for kiseki fans?

Things are looking pretty good Cold Steel has more weeb appeal so its probably going to sell well on that a lone.
>Are we in the best timeline for kiseki fans?
Not until they announce a pc release for CS 3. I really don't want to buy a ps4 or any other console. I have school and bills to pay.
I think the Cold Steel PC port will have better chances to sell well compared to the Sky Games. It just hits the right spot to get the persona audience that is on PC.
Its inevitable but too early to expect that. They haven't even officially announced an english localization of CS3 yet.
>3rd on pace to sell about as much as SC did
So not well? :^(
SC is up to 40k for as niche as a series as this is its good. SC was also localized by a skeleton crew so it didn't exactly cost them much.
Its also slowly been climbing as people are finishing FC.
>Are we in the best timeline for kiseki fans?
No because somewhere there's a timeline where Falcom didn't become lazy hacks and give in to harem shit and nu-anime tropes.
Playing 3rd and going through the Olivier/Mueller door was so exciting until I realized I'd already played through what they were building up and it was laughable shit.
This series look interesting. Can you guys help me with some answers?
Should I play Trails in the Sky or Trails of Cold Steel?
Which one's more fun?
Which series have better girls/romance?
Are these games "party" based with npcs interact with one another? I love that sort of jrpgs.
Also, I should start with the 1st in whichever series I choose, right?
...
I really fucking hated how the majority of CS 2 is just running around the country doing side quests and recruiting random no bodies from school
The game should have focused more on the war that was going on
>No because somewhere there's a timeline where Falcom didn't become lazy hacks and give in to harem shit and nu-anime tropes.
This. The haremshit was good in FC/SC/3rd because Joshua definitely ends up with Estelle and it added to the character relationships. But why the fuck does Lloyd have a harem? Why does Rean have a harem? What exactly does it add to the story or the characters' relationships with each other, other than "Then some girl confessed to Rean". It's so tacked on and appeals to the lowest common denominator.
No. SC bombed, and if the 3rd isn't going to do better than it, we'll never get Zero/Ao.
Also, the Sen orbment system is fucking trash.
If you're looking for gameplay both series are pretty mediocre. Not bad, just not good.
If you're looking for Persona-like romance except nowhere near as rewarding, go for Cold Steel. If you're looking for the greatest vidya love story ever told but no self-inserts, play Sky.
Thanks for the response.
So Cold Steel is set up more like Persona with a more bland MC and multiple girls to choose from?
Does Sky have a more personalized MC and pairs you with a main girl or something?
Sky has you play as a 16 year old girl with an actual personality that spends the first game realizing she has feelings for her adopted brother and spends the first half of the second game looking for him
>Murder the final boss in the Abyss and most of the Shining Poms accompanying it.
>Only get about 1k exp
Well that was underwhelming.
Don't even bother praising something if you have to slap "vidya" on it.
Funny joke user.
Here maybe this is a better summary.
Sky is about a boy and a girl who become bracers (imagine police except more benevolent) and go around the country so they can get recommendations from every city so they can go from Junior Bracers to Senior Bracers. Sound boring? 90% of people agree. 10% think it's the most fucking amazing thing ever and get hooked into the series through these games.
Cold Steel is about a bunch of kids in High School. The main character is a black haired boy. That's about as much as I can say about him. You have your typical classmates and teachers and etc. etc.
There are political plot points going on in the background (and sometimes foreground) of both games. Most would agree Sky handles this better.
>spoiling the games
Great job retard.
Thank God I never came into Trails threads before playing FC last year. I went into having absolutely no idea what was going to happen and was fucking blown away. The moment I completed my 50 hour run through of FC I IMMEDIATELY bought SC and started playing it right then and there. That's fucking insane to think about but I was so in love with the characters and world I had to get more into my veins.
I'm taking 3rd nice and slow right now.
I see the braindead anti-kiseki shitposter has returned to spew more bullshit again
Made it to Chapter 3 of TitS the 3rd and am drowning in the sinking feeling that this entire game is filler. Same engine, mostly the same assets, similar yet heavily restricted gameplay. Was there a long ass gap between SC and Zero's releases that they needed to throw this out there to keep the series on life support?
>SC sold so poorly the 3rd was localized
Are you retarded?
(You)
Labor of love. XSEED was determined to finish the Sky trilogy regardless of sales.
Cold Steel 1+2 is just a better introduction into the series overall so I expect PC port will sell much better.
Play both.
Yep the trails series is doing so poorly that every game but 2 is in the west and the ones not on pc are getting ports made. Such a shame how the series is dead in the west
>Olivertfag mad that Osborne won so bad and has now made Erebonia bigger then Calvard
This.
You might as well call them extra equips since it somehow takes even less thought now when it was easy enough in the other games.
Lets take bets on how many questions sen III will actually answer this time.
>Sound boring? 90% of people agree. 10% think it's the most fucking amazing thing ever and get hooked into the series through these games.
Part of the 90% here. I fully played through FC twice, and SC once. Currently working my way through 3rd because I'm the type of moron who forces themselves to see things they start through to the end. The gameplay, even for their time (2004/5?), is shockingly poor. Especially for a company with a long history of making rpgs.
I decided to test my moonrune knowledge, and so I've been playing Zero no Kiseki since I've beat The 3rd.
I saw folks try and argue that playing Crossbell before Liberl would be a-ok.
Those people obviously have not played any of the Crossbell duology.
CS1+2 have sold about a million combined (worldwide) so I don't think one or even both of the ports will do that well.
Care to explain? As I understand it, you can start with any of the 3 Trails series and get into it just fine, ala .hack, Yakuza, etc.
Roaring Lion is i it so there's a good chance we'll get some real answers on what the salt pale is. Plus it would make no sense to jump to Calvard and not deal with the two sept-terrions, gnomes, divine knights and the end of the Phantasmal Blaze plan. Whatever class VII gets treatment is however the true question.
Stupid keyboard.*whatever class VII gets good treatment*
You can, but you will get spoiled on plot elements. For example, B flatout reveals that sky spoilers Joshua was an enforcer
Any treatment is good treatment for them since the only interesting character is Jusis, everyone else is just background.
The way I see it, the ARCUS substitutes arts variation in exchange for better combat ability (being able to do chain crafts) and usage of specific arts or abilities. I wouldn't think this is so bad if it didn't mess with character customization so much.
The argument could be made that since you can now put on multiple of the same type of quarts (multiple status ailments, multiple same stat increases), that adds a layer of depth to where you have to learn both proper stat and arts allocation, but imo it makes the game more metagamey than it has any need to be.
I think a decent middle ground could be made where some quartz give specific arts but no/low elemental value and have stat quartz that give elemental value so you can have multiple arts.
That's a screenshot from a conversation between Arios and Renne. During the conversation, he namedrops that she's an enforcer, that Estelle and Joshua came to Crossbell to look for her, and ask if she intends to keep running from them forever. Cassius Bright is also namedropped.
Elsewhere it's dropped that Estelle and Joshua - who recently came to Crossbell - had helped with the "Liberl Disaster" that occurred the year prior. Everyone in the SSS are aware of what had happened.
Earlier than that, you run into Renne's father. There are hints about what had happened with his family in the past, such as how even though they're successful now they don't feel blessed.
This all happens early on in the game, That's a lot of spoilers. Which ones did Erebonia have towards Sky? I'd say it's fine to play Erebonia before Crossbell, or even Erebonia before Liberl, but you really need to play Liberl before Crossbell.
>to jump to Calvard
Why not a prequel set in Ambria next? That ends with the protags dying in salt hell.
I don't see that as an issue. If anything I'd think it would get people more intrigued to perhaps go back and try those games.
Eh I like Fie and Jusis. I do however have small hope Falcom, will turn it around Gaius and Rean since there is frame work to make some good stuff if they stop messing around. The others will sadly take a good deal of work, the fact that Victor is more interesting then his own daughter is telling, and that's probably Cold Steel 1+2s biggest problem. It's the secondary characters that are interesting, not class VII except for a small few.
The new orbment system is much better since it finally eliminates the needless spell list bloat.
The amount of spoilers that Crossbell has is much higher than the spoilers that Erebonia has.
To put it another way, Erebonia is "the other side" to the Crossbell events, whereas Crossbell is "the continuation" of the Liberl events. Cold Steel III is looking to be the conclusion to both Crossbell AND Erebonia's arcs, so it would be wise for someone to get Crossbell translated sooner rather than later.
>mfw fishing minigame third chapter
THIS IS FUCKING RIGGED
speaking of orbments I am so bad at them.
any chapter 2 orbment quartz build suggestions? also who's slots I should focus on unlocking?
feel like magic was pretty effective in the prologue/chapter 1 but its kind of dropped off and I have like no group magic attacks
Reminder that Towa is winning via proximity.
How deep is the Abyss? Are there any checkpoints throughout?
Also, where is Star Door 15?
I'm going to suffer through it because I'm an autist for completion but it can honestly be skipped after the first round. You only need to finish that for the achievement/door 15 and the reward is pretty shit.
>mfw getting hit with Earth Shaker using a team of Ries, Estelle, Kloe, and Josette.
Not even a fan of Towa, but I'm loving the fact that Alisa was thrown to the side where she belongs. Hate or love Towa, at least she's active in the overall scheme of things.
15 is right at the bottom.
I will forgive ironic weebs for all of their shit taste if them latching onto Cold Steel allows for a Steam port of CS3.
Ironically, the serial headpatter gets headpatted.
It's about 20 screens of the same copy-pasted spiraling downward pathway with a boss fight every 5 floors.
Star Door 15 is at the bottom.
...
>Oh man it's Cassius! Cassius!
>Richard murders him 1 on 1 spamming crafts
Is Richard SSSSSSS tier? He's so fast you cant' even see his sword after all.
>Final Choice and Parallel Universe
Only one you didn't post was The Crimson Stigma
youtube.com
I feel bad for anyone who didn't get the Jinu for Anelace. Cuteness truly is justice.
Calvard when?
My favourite is the Jade Corridor music.
FALCOM
The best is easily the one that plays in the forest and Monochrome Schoolhouse. Dunno what it's called but it's fucking perfect.
Its the first one he posted Parallel Universe
Has anyone listened to the 3rd Evo OST? It's so bad
youtube.com
That's not the one. It has a guitar in it.
Found it
The Sora Evo ost remixes have been pretty hit or miss for me. Really weird since I liked the Zero/Ao Evo remixes.
I really hope so user. I really hope so.
My bad was thinking of the wrong one but that was also definitely one of my favorites.
What confuses me is Ao's evo was good for the most part, yet every evo Sky ost has been :/
How have you guys been building Ries? I've been building her as a straight physical attacker since my party for the final boss will already have two arts users. Infinity Sparrows has been really helpful in the abyss for AoE damage.
Also curious if anyone has tried building Kevin as a physical attacker, his new crafts in the 3rd seem like it could work pretty well.
What did Towa even do except to steal Viktor's spot as captain because shes a special snowflake or not showing up retroactively during the terrorist strike on Crossbell's Trade Conference
You're playing the wrong series
It's more VN than game
>go to bottom of hell for Star Door 15
>where you get to witness Renne's Paradise unfold
Like pottery
About to finish Berseria, strongly considering picking up Trails in the Sky after. Good idea?
How's the level design? The battle clips I saw seemed reasonable.
youtube.com
i love this one
Pushing Alisa to the side still won't make Emma/Laura/Fie win user. Falcom just needs to pretending that they're going to do anything else.
Far more then Alisa ever fucking did. Even in Roer, she got her role stolen by Angelica not once, but twice.
>Gain nothingness
I feel bad for those who didn't upgrade it.
She's just the stereotypical anime student council president that people in Japan seem to love. Perfect grades, cute to her peers, kind, hardworking, etc. Anime seems to love to idolize the student council, so being that Cold Steel panders more to that audience, Towa gets to be special.
I love Sky, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. You have to enjoy reading and enjoy lore to enjoy the game. 90% of the fun from the Trails series is running around and taking in the characters and lore of the world. Music is great and the graphics are well done for basically being sprites (in Sky/Zero/Ao). But the actual gameplay is nothing special. It's not awful, but it's just standard JRPG fare. Cold Steel 1/2 are more modern gameplay-wise, but they're also generally considered the worst by fans since they sacrifice a lot writing quality to be more anime-like.
I always tell friends that Sky/Zero/Ao are kind of like the Golden Sun series and that Cold Steel is like a watered down Persona. So maybe you can use those for comparison.
You get this from the nightmare arena right? Also I still get this if I don't bring Anelace?
Do you prefer it (remain?) brother/sister or turned romantic when Tita's of age?
when do I get the item for moon door 5?
I don't care for Jusis x Millium but I sure as hell want Jusis to show up sooner rather than later.
I like reading and lore, and I'm fine with a standard JRPG combat experience as long as there's enough to play around with. I think I'll get it.
There's really not many other series out there that has this much amount of plot continuity. Even if things get shaky by the time Cold Steel occurs, it's still one hell of a fucking ride.
Alisa's arbitrary as fuck relationship with her mother with her absurd amount of expectations for her came up irrelevant in both her bonding events and actual plot events.
I actually find her the worst girl of Class VII and I'd rather have Rean go with Altina or even fucking Juna.
Even with the shaky stuff, it's impressive how little the continuity errors are. There's series that can't do proper opportunity after one game.
*continuity
Do I have to beat arena on nightmare to unlock star door 14?
Got any tips for a new player?
No just the normal mode, same goes for the fishing mini game.
For Cold Steel or Sky?
They probably got all the big events set in stone while they work out the finer, smaller details that happen to vary in quality. Moreso with CS since they had to limit their scopes to highschool
For Sky. I'm starting at the beginning, Senpai.
Not him but speed is king. Clock Up/Clock Up EX are the first buffs you should be using. It's not as important in FC since the gear in FC does very little besides add defense but it will come into play in later games.
Earth Wall is also extremely powerful.
