Were gonna see if the Classic Sonic fanbase really are worth caring about with Mania. If it somehow under performs while appearing to be amazing then SEGA should pay no mind to Classic Sonic fans anymore.
>SEGA should pay no mind to Classic Sonic fans anymore.
Even people who enjoy the 2D games tend to hate Classic Sonic's gameplay in Generations and Forces. I wish they'd stop pandering and including Classic Sonic as a crutch.
All I want in a sequel, if it's not already part of Mania:
>Chao Garden
>Sonic Spinball
>Mean Bean Machine
>Chaotix (From the 32x)
Put these in, and I'll be interested.
>Chaotix (From the 32x)
More characters is indeed the only thing I'd want. I really want Shadow and Blaze to be playable again and the Chaotix (at least Espio and Vector) already have a template to go off of with their abilities in Knuckles Chaotix.
I hope the game fucking fails and we never get another classic sonic game again. The series needs to move forwards not backwards. And fuck the people who will get offended by this. It's time modern fans took a stand
Modern fanbase is too fractured to make one.
I want them to bring back Nack.
>When Mania will be Sonics swansong before it never has a good game ever again
I'll miss ya Sonic, you were a cool dude, at least we could do things one last time.
>A sequel's guaranteed, isn't it?
Watch as Mania is more popular than their mainline game, so Japan gets bitter and buries it out of spite.
If it sells well. I might double dip for both the PS4 and Switch versions. Maybe.
>Move forwards by making bad games.
I don't think some of the modern games are outright bad, but none of them are as good as CD/2/3&K. If 2D platformer is outright backwards to you I have nothing more to say to you as I find it preferable.
>2D genesis era chao garden
Fuck, that could be incredible.
A Genesis era Shadow or Blaze would be really cool, but I know a lot of purists even on Sup Forums would throw a hissy-baby-fit because "not muh Sonic" modern characters.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out Taxman was in their camp.
As much as I'm hyped & hoping for the best with this game since I'm convinced it's going to be good it's probably only going to sell well if the price is low like $20 maybe $30.
I hope the sequel has most or all of the Sonic the Fighters playable characters playable
Psst.
Tails Gets Trolled is updating again
>100% new stages
>the same supposed large amount of stages that Mania already offers
>new elemental shields
>one more playable character
Besides the revisited stages Mania's pretty much perfect and everything I wanted from a new Sonic game.
The fans will continue to pick up the slack even if Mania fails
The series has been moving """""forward""""" for two decades now and not a single game in that time frame even compares to 3 & Knuckles' shier quality. Returning to form is objectively the best course of action for this franchise right now.
>muh physics
They got it perfect with Sonic 4 part 2. Old trash should be left behind.
>Sonic 4
Return to form and go from there, more like. Yes, 3K is the peak of the series' quality. But the games also need to grow. We can't rigidly reproduce the same game time and time again. Fortunately Mania seems like it understands that, though it looks like it could springboard off it more than it did.
>They got it perfect with Sonic 4 part 2
Nice try Dimps shill. Show me footage where you can do any of this in Sonic """4""".
>A sequel's guaranteed
Wishful thinking.
>What do you want from a Sonic Mania sequel?
Less remix levels and more originals, bring back the insta-shield/w-kaiten attack. All it needs.
>>A sequel's guaranteed
>Wishful thinking.
>implying
That's not even taking into consideration the positive reception from pretty much everyone who's aware of the game, which is at least over two million people.
A better-designed game would have had several deathpits to avoid in that section. You know, to make it an actual platformer.
>changing the subject
kek
>$70 in the us
>£80 in the UK
Fuck SEGA
>The series has been moving """""forward""""" for two decades now
It stopped moving forward after Colors, now its just nostalgia pandering.
>It stopped moving forward after 3 & Knuckles
Fixed.
Come on m8. The more successful it is the more of an embarressment it will be to Sega that a bunch of fanboys managed to beat them at their own game. It will be buried.
That's fine. We can always go back to the best Sonic game.
Do you think a map screen would kill a classic Sonic game?
>Adventure secondaries
Oh give me a brake.
fix the camera issues, smooth out the sonic/shadow controls just a touch, and remove the secondary playstyles and it's literally a perfect 3d sonic game
this is the peak of 3d sonic controls
What do you think this is, a Metroidvania?
Nah.
Sega would see it as "people want more 2D sonic!" and start having new ones made by "proper" sonic developers. Like DIMPS.
>the peak of 3d sonic controls
ahem
Amy
I meant something like Mario or DKC to go between levels and return to ones you want to replay. Maybe you could switch characters mid-playthrough.
Fuck, I forgot about this preorder bonus. Is it still going?
You know, I was fine with seeing the old levels redone and shit because I mean, those levels are fucking classic and Nintendo redoes levels constantly and no one says shit.
But I think I'm starting to actually agree with the loud mouthed faggots that cry about using the same levels now.
Seriously. I know the reasons they do it, I'm just sick of the first few levels being remakes in every sonic game now.
They actually need to try and step away from recycling the old levels now.
Not fast enough. Sonic 3's system is good enough and quicker to select levels.
Oh good, the Utopia hipsters are back.
>everything needs to be a sandbox!
Fuck off.
Sonic Adventure 9
Sega outright requires either Green or Emerald Hill Zone. Can't be a sonic game without one.
Same
After all, isn't Sonic Mania supposed to be like a "long lost Sonic game" from the Saturn era?
Depends on the region, check Amazon.
Utopia's not a sandbox game. Plus we're talking about controls here, get some reading comprehension.
>taking painfully obvious bait
Yes.
>Plus we're talking about controls here
Oh right, that game that never came out is truly the pinnacle of control. What a verifiable statement.
Hey, if you don't ever point out anything then a poor unsuspecting user might be suckered into buying shitty games like Sonic 4 just because of some shitposts.
No one said sandbox. Utopia controls better than a lot of the other 3D Sonic games and the demo shows twisty levels and branching.
The demo's right there, you know. Nothing's stopping you from playing it, unless you're a dumb mobileposter of course.
I'm going to reserve judgment til it comes out, but I'm also not going to hail it as the pinnacle of anything til then.
I'm pretty sick of people treating it like "Sonic is saved! See this fangame that will be finished in 10 more years?"
>Tfw Classic Sonic Heroes > Mania
Is there any way to enable widescreen in Kega?
>Tfw Classic Sonic Heroes > Mania
You never played Mania though.
>Is there any way to enable widescreen in Kega?
I don't think so but that'd be cool.
>Ever having access to spindash in Sonic 1 levels
Stay mad, this fixes the irredeemable pile of shit that is Sonic 1
It doesn't though, the level design is still the same.
>irredeemable pile of shit that is Sonic 1
Woah there, contrarian.
Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles
the same games
widescreen
that's it, 16:9 rendering, no more 4:3
please and thank you
>Spin dash fixes Spring Yard and Labyrinth Zone
Classic fanboy faggots need to fuck off and die. They're delusional fucking retards. Unleashed alone is better than any classic sonic game, fuck you, you stupid fucking idiots.
That already exists for 1, 2 & CD thanks to Taxman and Stealth. 3 & Knuckles is never ever though.
Unleashefag is back.
This poor coder. He must really love games as a function rather than playing games. he's got way more motivation than anybody else who has actually played the games. His dedication WOULD be mockworthy but he's actually doing it for good, instead of completely pure self interest, making other experiences better than his own.
reading the infographic completely now. he might turn out to be a fag
...
sorry I'm really drunk and read the first paragraph before replying.
ignore me and my posts, you can do so through the drop down menu
Adaptation of the Mega Drive arc from the comics. Legitimately solid zone, badnik and boss designs that would work perfectly for an actual game, and the arc was completely separate from the rest of the comics so no dumb comic continuity to deal with.
NEVER EVER
So how about that Flying Battery?
But the controls are all fitted for a sandbox so I don't know what you niggas all talking about.
It's like wanting DMC to have Arkham Asylum controls. Yea, it's smoother but at the point of completely nullifying any intensity to it.
The classic games aren't fun why do people like them so much? is it the chibi artstyle? It can't be the gameplay. Honestly I ahd much more fun with Sa1,Sa2, Heroes, and Shadow than any of the classics. Sadly after those games everything went to shit. 06 was supposed to be Sa3, it was supposed to be the magnum opus of Sonic Games, and it just failed so hard. I think because of this Sonic Team is completely afraid to touch anything in the "sa3" area and it makes me sad.
I would even be happy for a Sonic 06 reboot that replaces the mach sections with the hedgehog engine and replacing the engine altogether with the hedgehog engine, replace the elise gameplay with normal gameplay, and overall fix the technical problems with the game. I think if they were given more time they could salvage the game.
>But the controls are all fitted for a sandbox
They aren't.
>Adventure secondaries
>Is there any way to enable widescreen in Kega?
Seriously?
How do people not just fucking hate Sonic from the bottom of their gut
THIRTEEN games in fifteen years that have all, every single one of them, been a complete waste of fucking time and resources
What is the fucking opportunity cost of creating the mountain of burning shit that has been the last 15 years of Sonic games?
Thirteen fucking sequels to Panzer Dragoon, Skies of Arcadia, Shinobi, Shenmue, Golden Axe, Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio, Gunvalkyrie, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Tennis, Sega GT, Phantasy Star, Samba De Amigo or Chu-Chu Rocket that weren't made because Sega has to shit out another 3D Sonic abortion
>But the controls are all fitted for a sandbox
What does this even mean.
I played this expecting a quality title and it's fucking painfully amateurish.
It's like it was made by amateurs or something.
>that weren't made because Sega has to shit out another 3D Sonic abortion
It's pretty simple user. Sonic makes money. Those games didn't.
Nowadays Sega is in a lot better financial situation, so they can afford a few experimental titles here and there instead of just relying on Sonic or Alien just to stay afloat.
Dude relax jesus christ lmao, If sega would have stuck with Sonic Adventure style games, we would still have those other games too and possibly a Dreamcast 3 right now. But shit happens, the world is unfair. Sonic Team brought it upon themselves by changing the gameplay every game, and sinking deeper and deeper into debt with each release.
Legitimately one of my all-time favorite zones. I hope their act 2 remixes it something crazy.
>Constant downward sales trend
>New games selling literally 1/10 of the Genesis games because of how badly you've mismanaged your series
What a great fucking position to be in
Sega only still exists because of fucking Football Manager btw, not the 500,000 copies of the latest Sonic turd that barely broke even
It's a proof of concept, if it were an actual game the levels obviously wouldn't be built like that.
>Do you think a map screen would kill a classic Sonic game?
That's exactly what Sonic 4 had.
The only problem with it was that after you beat an Act, it asked you if you wanted to "Press Y to go to the next Act" instead of "Press Y to go back to the world map"
So just make sure that doesn't happen again and a world map will be fine.
>Sega only still exists because of fucking Football Manager btw, not the 500,000 copies of the latest Sonic turd that barely broke even
I didn't say Sega's current financial position is thanks to Sonic, Sonic just kept them afloat when the Dreamcast failed and they decided to go third-party, which is why they kept the series around when they later had to cut most of their published library down to three or four IPs.
Now they're not having the same issues, likely due to the company's new president
The only reason why Lost World and Boom sold so poorly was because Sega was stupid enough to do an exclusivity deal with Nintendo for Nintendo's worst-selling console to date. You can't even blame quality when even 06 sold millions.
The fact that Forces and Mania will be multiplat on all major platforms will guarantee that both will be massive successes by Sega standards.
NO
CLASSIC
STAGES
fucks sake Sega
>Dude relax jesus christ lmao, If sega would have stuck with Sonic Adventure style games, we would still have those other games too and possibly a Dreamcast 3 right now.
Yeah, that's why Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 helped create the Dreamcast 2.
Same art style, all-new stages, not a single stage from past games, anime cutscenes, Masato Nakamura as the composer, higher resolution graphics and Garou-tier animation, no nostalgia pandering.
Oh yeah, bringing some characters back would be good. Nack is really cool.
That's SA2's fault, with the mechs, watered down stories, and lack of hubworlds.
Sa2 was shit compared to Sa1, and the 3D games just got worse and worse and worse...
Instead of improving on what made sonic adventure good, they stripped it of everything that made it good.
It should do well. Reviewers want classic Sonic.
Triple Trouble was great. I love that they introduced another rival character like Knuckles, only who wasn't designed to go soft and join the heroes. Dumping him was a mistake. He'd make a good treasure hunter rival to Knuckles and now Rouge.
Reviewers want to dump on modern Sonic more than anything. It's their favorite passtime.
Bullshit, the metacritic scores on all the modern Sonic games are unbelievably generous
Reviewers dump on modern Sonic because every modern Sonic game is a steaming pile of shit
