Sup Forums tells you a game is shit

>Sup Forums tells you a game is shit
>Play it anyways
>It's actually pretty decent

>Try it with mods
>It's even better

Have I been memed? I thought this game was supposed to be one of the worst games ever, yet I'm having loads of fun playing it.

No, the game is terrible.

You're just enjoying a low quality game. Nothing wrong with that. I wish I could enjoy shit games.

It´s fucking boring, there´s only one "city"and the rest you have to fucking build

Yeah you got memed bro

Sup Forums is not always right

Actually, the game is really good. You're just a jaded faggot who can't enjoy anything without shitting on it.

>Have I been memed?

Depends on how you play it honestly. I made it 10 hours in and realized my approach to the game was wrong because I was too used to FO3/NV. I started my file over from there and had way more fun.

>There's only one "city"

Don't lie user, you didn't play the game.

Sup Forums automatically hates anything popular. So, yes. You got memed on.

>Hatred

said it was edgy
said it was a shit twin stick shooter
said it generic

It's fun as fuck and you all lean too far to the left. Fuck Sup Forums.

They said the same thing about skyrim and that fun also. especially with mods.
Sup Forums seems to think just because a feature was removed that was in the last game, the new game isnt fun anymore.

No, the game is awful.
The story is awful and badly written.
The quests are boring as fuck for the most part.
The guns are all awful except for the hunting rifle.
Power Armor is a wasted opportunity.
There is literally no roleplaying, there is only one character build and the skill system is several degrees of fucked up.
The worldmap is waaay too tight for a wasteland. It's more like an amusement park.

The only good bits are how it looks and the gun gameplay. Everything else is a straight up downgrade from earlier 3D Fallout games.

it's almost as if Sup Forums wasn't a hivemind and each one of us has different tastes

Imagine you like games about racing cars. You played Car Race 1, 2, 3, and 3.5. They were great, and your favorite part of the game was how you could customize your car any way you wanted. Then Car Race 4 comes out, and it takes away the ability to customize your car in any fashion except for the paint job.

That's Fallout 4.

>one of the worst games ever
Said no one on Sup Forums, why make shit up just to say Sup Forums was wrong?

You know, you could've just said Need for Speed and the analogy would've worked.

In fact, Fallout and NFS are hilariously similar in that aspect.

>it's almost as if Sup Forums wasn't a hivemind

Keyword being almost.

That makes me feel bad for fans of Need for Speed.

nah it's pretty fun

still firmly samefagging, shits a bland disappointment

It might be fun to spend some time with.

Is it good? No.

Why do you find it so hard to believe that there are multiple people that were disappointed with a game in this thread?

fallout 4 is the best bethesda fallout despite having the weakest story. gameplay is so much better than the garbage in fonv and fo3 and elder scrolls, and the places have really nice atmospheres despite them making no sense.
fallout 2 is the best fallout game thpugh

So's meth.

here shit means 'not as good as the previous one'
personally i found fallout 4 ok as a wander around and shoot at stuff game
found the base building and crafting and shit utterly repellent and with the worst possible interface, no idea how people enjoy that shit, especially with the 'x settlement is in trouble' shit which i now just ignore
oh and it's barely an rpg, the dialogue system is awful and the quests aren't particularly memorable, plus the boston wasteland is kind of boring outside of the city parts
far harbor was much more enjoyable than the main game though
also the modding scene fucking sucks

It's not as bad as Sup Forums says, it's just not as fun and full of choices as fo1/2 and New Vegas. So many quests where traits/skills/gear has no impact on how you complete it.
Far Harbor does it a lot better than most of the base game. The missions there link together, few have different outcomes depending on how you choose to finish them and that in turn affects other quests etc. The way Fo4 should've been from the start.

>the modding scene fucking sucks
Yeah what the fuck happened to FO4 that made it so weak compared to Skyrim?

>fallout 2 is the best fallout game thpugh

THIS x1000. But, I guess we are in the minority, since all these damn Millennials will shout us down into oblivion.

Some say people are more into the fantasy setting, which doesn't make sense since FNV and FO3 had comparable modding scenes to other bethesda games
isn't the creation kit still in 'beta' or something? that might be a reason
most FO4 mods are just sexy clothes and new guns which don't mean shit if you don't have interesting quest mods to be sexy and shoot guns in. the new vegas bounties mods were some of my favorite quest mods for any bethesda game, complete with well voice acted dialogue and plenty of choices, which honestly now seems impossible with the fucking 4-option system and requirement for player voice acting that bethesda has forced
most quest mods just chop up other dialogue so your character can speak which obviously leads it to being weird sounding and poorly written.

all that plus the game just isn't as compelling as the previous ones, so i guess a lot of people lost interest

I shat on this game for months. And I was right, and still am. Its a fucking shit RPG and a shit fallout, and new vegas is one hundred times a better game.
But I tried again, throwing my expectations of rpgness out the window. Modded to hell and back: just survival things, realistic damage, tuned the game to my liking. Removed the MC shitter voice, removed the opening sequence (alternate start), and it actually became a fucking solid survival game.
>wander into the desert, almost no food, only water I find is fucking radioactive af
>guns have almost no ammo, two shots kill everything, including me
>have to scout terrain and find high ground to kill a few ghouls
its fun. You dont need to believe me, but I tried really hard and I found the enjoyment hidden in this game. also i didnt buy it

took one year to release the modding kit

people just got bored and went back to making skyrim loli porn mods

>quit liking what i dont like!

It's alright borders on being bad. It's bad if you focus on writing and dog elements. It's all right if you focus on exploration And fucking around

Except not really, because exploring this barren, empty world is entirely pointless.

As opposed to NV where you get a fun 2 lines of dialogue after a generic quest amirite?

Why are you suddenly bringing up NV like that?

NV being empty and barren doesn't make FO4 a good game with worthwhile exploration.

Yeah man, it's actually pretty fun.

All the voiced protagonist memers are fucking retarded. You play the same fucking story regardless, being upset they can't imagine their whiney, pathetic voice spewing from the main character's mouth seems as autistic as you'd expect of Sup Forums.

Always do the opposite of what Sup Forums says.

It won the most prestigious GOTY awards.
To be fair it was a weak year for games.

Sup Forums always says it's shit. never trust Sup Forums as a critic.

It's not about hearing our voices, it's about the protag's voice conflicting with the character we want to play.

It's a fucking role-playing series, that's an objectively dumb decision for them to make. why would you undo what the series is loved for?

The "Mods will fix it" meme died when consoles got them.
They know.

>millennials

unless you were born in the 70s you're a millennial. Stop this shit you fucking retard

Yeah, the reception to this game from you pricks convinced me that most gamers are whiny entitled turds. It does have some weak points but that doesn't mean it deserves to be looked at like it some modern day Daikatana. Its world is easily the most interesting to explore out of all Fallout games.

>BRO TIER
Valentine, Hancock, Deacon
>HIGH TIER
Codsworth, Dogmeat, Ada
>GOOD TIER
Curie, Longfellow
>OKAY TIER
MacCready, Gage, Piper
>LOW TIER
Cait, X6, Danse
>SHIT TIER
Strong, Preston

>Most gamers are whiny entitled turds

The story is hamfisted as fuck and most of the quests are mediocre

The core gameplay however is a very big improvement over previous games, shooting is fun for once instead of dice roll garbage

I found it severely lacking.

The plot was laughable, the roleplay elements were pathetic, the "humour" was embarrassing and the characters unengaging.

At release the game was a buggy mess.

The gameplay is much better than before but only when it actually works as intended.

Some good ideas here and there that ultimately can't save this hot mess.

5/10

Probably a bait through but it's worst fallout I've played. Haven't played Tactics or BoS though, although I understand Tactics is good.

For me, it's hard to say. Writing-wise I'd say it is

1 > NV > 2 > 3 >4

2 is mechanically superior to 1 though. Gameplay I'd say maybe it is closer to

2 > NV > 1 > 3 > 4

1 > 2

I don't understand how despite all of its fuck ups and general shittyness, FO4 also managed to give us one of the best companions/NPCs ever conceived.

It's probably a better fallout game, but 2 has more to it and more mechanics. I feel a bit conflicted.

I prefer Bioshock 2 to 1 since it is so much better mechanically and in gameplay. But it feels wrong to list fallout 2 over 1 for the same reason somehow.

IMO Fallout 1 is quality and FO2 is quantity. They're all good though, even 3 and 4.

Agreeable, but I didn't really care for the DLC companions.
I'd put MacCready a little higher just for his affinity companion perk and asshole mercenary attitude (I always roleplayed as a bottlecap shaking merc in this game).

>those early days where MacCready's perk was bugged to give you guaranteed 95% accuracy on headshots no matter how far away the target is

Where should the next fallout take place?

Because it fucking sucks. whats with that dumb ass town building shit?? and the worst of all the VOICED CHARACTER HOLY SHIT. and the dialog options

3 is a pretty good Elder Scrolls game, but it isn't a good Fallout game if you get what I'm trying to say.

Fallout 3 is a better Elder Scrolls game than Oblivion.

2 is almost a remake of 1.
It's bigger and has improved mechanics, sure,
but that's to be expected of a sequel.

The story is largely the same but lacks most of what made Fallout so great.
The dark humour got replaced with pop culture references and the end boss was just stupid.

Alaska
>Plenty of reason for there to be military bases, intrigue about the Great War, etc
>Husky for the obligatory dog companion
>Could have a Chinese Remnant ghoul companion too
>Group of tribals descended from Inuits

Miami or Orlando. I want to shoot mutated crocodiles and fuck up gangs that think Tony Montana was a real guy and act/dress like him

I don't really care since it's going to be made by Bethesda.

>boring ass scenery
No thanks.

Fallout 4 Dialogue isn't that bad, it's just streamlined. Most people pick the same choices anyway.

why even bother replying then

I guess I've gotten so used to sequels having less and worse things than the original games that I rate it higher than I should when a game actually improves over the original mechanically.

"Barren wastelands and bombed-out buildings" are a-okay but "snowy wastelands and bombed-out buildings" is boring?

it's ok if you're an fps babby
(ie low iq faggot)

Alaska doesn't have buildings.

>Power Armor is a wasted opportunity.
Good god, this. I came in expecting another mediocre 3 experience but with a PA simulator on the side, instead I got a resource management simulator on a much, much worse version of 3. I'm not exaggerating when I say the only good things about this game are art direction and ditching that input delay when firing manually that both 3 and NV had.

Same dude. I understand why people don't like FO4 but to me there's really nothing inherently wrong with it. I enjoyed the fuck out of it and while I can't say it's a flawless game, it's nowhere near what it's made out to be. I guess in this current age of massive game hype, people automatically assume anything that doesn't live up to the stupidly high expectations they set for it is dissapointing. So we have a Christmas present type situation where people are automatically dissapointed because it doesn't live up to incredibly high expectations, and then people automatically label it as being shit.

Well duh
You can't listen to Sup Forums when it comes to popular games. Everyone here is too contrarian. Look at stuff like the Last of Us, Witcher 3, Dark Souls. All good games, but oh no, they're popular and mainstream so looks like they're bad according to Sup Forums
Then you have the 3x3 threads with games like 8 or 9 people on earth have played that these retards claim are the best games ever cause no one can bash them cause no one has ever played them

you are a retarded monkey subhuman

Been playing it recently. I've been able to have fun with it after heavy amount of modding to make base building and exploration worthwhile. However I am avoiding most main and side quests just because of how bad they are.

>listening to retards that hate everything

It's a shitty Fallout game. It's a decently fun game if all you want to do is shoot things and build towns. The story and writing are garbage either way.

Its fun, but the general hate comes from
>its not FO3 or new vegas and it feels dumbed down and less of an RPG with shooting

The first thing to understand about Sup Forums is most of the people here bitching neither have a PC nor console capable of playing AAA anything and barely have rigs capable of playing low req indie games. Are we really supposed to believe it's a coincidence everything worshipped here is old or low req?

people hate it because of its extremely dumbed down RPG mechanics and story compared to the previous games

it's the worst bethesda open world game yet

If Bethesda makes it, it will probably be Philadelphia. They love the colonial American Revolution theme.
If anyone besides Bethesda makes it, hopefully somewhere out west in the desert.

There has never been good writing in a Fallout game, not ever. The best it's ever been is how you could make a compelling argument for any ending in NV (except Legion unless you're retarded) but even then individual characters and lines only range from decent to fucking horrible,

"Nobody's dick is that long, not even long dick Johnson, and he had a fucking long dick, hence the name" omfg XD

So you finally developed a narrative to counter the rampant anti-AAA culture after years of abuse. Took you outsourced pajeets long enough.

No, you just have shit taste and are content with bland games.

>what is anchorage

dumb nigger

Ah, the old "SHUT UP IT WAS NEVER GOOD" argument.

Anyone saying it is among the worst games ever is using hyperbole and you should have been able to see that.
It's an ok game, but a disappointing Fallout game.

No, I am correct.

>game is bad
>game is an even worse [franchise]
>but it's a good game because I really like [franchise]
This meme is very stale at this point.

t. tasteless fagoot

Most of the problems people point at in Bethesda Fallouts also exist in the Black Isle/Obsidian ones. Fallout 4 is a new low but double standards are inexcusable.

My point was that FO4 wouldn't get half the amount of shit it get if it wasn't for how much the series had been dumbed down over the years.
I'm not saying it is good, just not horrible. It is awfully average.

But the fact that you think DaS2 is garbage period and simply not just the worst of its franchise(followed rather closely by DaS3) makes me question if you're able to not always go with the extremes when taking a stance. It is easily among the top 3 games of its year.

Why do you bother to live?
Same reply

Alright then, paragon of neutrality. Justify a shoddy, buggy, broken, conceptually flawed action RPG reaching Top 3 over:

>Bayo 2
>Shovel Knight
>Stick of Truth
>Talos Principle
>Legend of Grimrock 2
>EDF
>MK8
>Strider

Also, F4 is a very boring shooter and open world game, even more so than usual.

Wait, why am I even replying to someone so utterly dense to think 2 is even comparable to 3?

I don't like Fallout 4. From what I remember, heres why, in no particular order:

>1. Bad Quests
I barely remember that many quests that I did. The kabab one, the robot ship one, the deathclaw one, thats all I remember really. All the others were just kill the raiders or gunners.

>2. Bad Dialogue
The illusion that your choices or responses matter is gone. In previous games you never had 100% control over what happens, but they at least tried to hide it. In FO4 if feels like all of the NPCs are deaf.

>3. Bad item maintenance
Tout you removed the tedious maintenance system and then proceed to make power armor even more tedious to maintain than feature you removed? Requiring power cores is one thing, having to constantly be picking up LITERAL JUNK to repair power armor is a complete and utter waste of time and weight.

>4. Bad Builds
Most high level perks aren't needed enough and it's quite easy to pretty much be good at any form of combat. There aren't requirements for weapons, some puny dude can use a minigun. It's clearly catered to people that play through the game a single time, especially with no level cap. How are you supposed to make a build when there is no level cap? You just get everything, especially with Idiot Savant.

>5. Bad Perks
The perks are all boring and uninspired. All of the damage perks are the same 20% incremental increase with an uninteresting bonus for fully leveling one. There is not a lot of perk innovation, it's a lot of stuff we've already seen.

>6. Bad side-grade weapon system
Due to the side-grade weapon system you never find any new weapons. Just the same weapons with a different receiver (which looks the same BTW) but does more damage because. Also: Pipe. Guns.

>7. Bad Unique Weapon System
The legendary weapon system is one of the worst changes to the game. You can need a certain gun or armor piece for a build and need to grind for potentially for hours. On the other hand you may be given a completely broken gun right out of the gate that makes even the hardest encounter in the game trivial. Also a lot of weapon/armor modifiers are just completely useless. With this system you are ridiculously overpowered or have traits that are so niche they might as well not exist. With the legendary weapon system you knew how to get weapons for a specific builds and had requirements for them sometimes. Oh, and THEY LOOKED UNIQUE. Legendary weapons look no different than a normal weapon - why?

>8. New critical system is incredibly over powered.
If you spec into luck and get the weapon from one of the first incredibly easy BOS mission you won the game. You can hit enemies from a mile away with 1% chance to hit AND do a critical hit every two to three shots in VATS. Who did this? Who thought this was balanced? Who?

>9. Essential NPCs
Nothing more to say here. Essential NPCs take the R out of RPG.

Thats why I remember I stopped playing it. If you like it keep playing it really is a horribly unbalanced, normie nightmare of a game with little to no substance so don't fool yourself - it's pretty much objectively worse than previous title because of these reasons. I like good food, but I also like McDonalds from time to time too.

>The perks are all boring and uninspired. All of the damage perks are the same 20% incremental increase with an uninteresting bonus for fully leveling one. There is not a lot of perk innovation, it's a lot of stuff we've already seen.
Even worse, they're mandatory at least up to halfway through. And even still you have to get creative because damage sponges will chew your resources.

Legendary items are such bullshit. They basically function like magical enchantments. And I always end up getting shit like "leather shoulder piece that protects against ghouls" when I'm already wearing a full suit of combat armor. Or dumb weapons like "walking cane that does more damage at night if you're on drugs".

Fallout 4 is just allright, though it just suffers from a severe, severe case of 'previous game was too good and as a result it makes the next game seem to be absolute shit by comparison' syndrome
It stands on its own feet allright, but when you compare it to the game that came before it it brings down the whole game.
If NV didn't exist and instead fallout 3 was the last fallout before fallout 4 people would probably be praising it instead

But 3 is better than 4.
