how can I challenge a p-p-p-p-p-perfect machine
Reminder it will be garbage, as older and wise does not necessarily mean they'll produce better games.
laughed for a good 10 minutes after that, completely unexpected
SS>SS 2>BS 2>BS
SS>SS2>Prey>BS=BS2
SS1 had better atmosphere/levels/music and was more innovative, but SS2 was a better designed game. All Bioshock games are filth, but BS2 is at least sorta fun
I never hear people talk about SS, only about SS2 and how great it is, almost ignoring that there was a first game at all, and I liked SS better.
that's mostly because SS was a pain to set up on modern computers until it got rereleased. Once it came out Sup Forums was filled with posts about how they preferred the first game
Agree, it's just because SS has clunky as fuck gameplay and it's not actually that deep comparatively. But I think everyone should play both games, I had an amazing time with SS when I first played it a while back. Better Metroidvania than Super Metroid, and released the same year.
but warren has had a pretty good track record
not recently
I thought SS was okay. It was just a lot more annoying to play though, SS2 felt more polished in that regard. SS2 had a couple of annoying areas, the cargo bay, and the part where you have to kill the eggs, but SS seemed to have so many more annoying parts. Plus the invisible enemies, getting to Shodan through that maze on rails cyberspace.
I really liked the cyberspace hacking in SS though, one of my favorite Source mods, Dystopia, seems to be influenced by that and I wish it was in SS2.
>completely unbalanced RPG system
>the most boring weapons are the most overpowered
>awful hacking minigame
>heavily linear map progression
>poor enemy variety
>unfulfilling mission design and story (go play lapdog to this rogue AI by accomplishing tasks with invisible/vague outcomes then kill this AI who was previosuly helpless)
>better designed
As compared with SS1:
>Awful controls
>Still awful controls with mouselook mod
>The most boring weapons are the most overpowered
>Awful hacking puzzles
>Enemy behavior is generally unchallenging and shit
>Resource economy is garbage, end game with 100 medipatches, 50+ clips of each ammo for every weapon, 50 grenades, inventory full of batteries
>Cyberspace sections tacked on
>Game lacks meaningful depth and tension in gameplay and player progression
It beats SS2 in the setting and exploration for sure, but it's actually a pretty shallow experience. SS2 wasn't balanced (try Secmod), but the game made you think a bit.
I prefer blue AIs myself.
I gotchu senpai. Pic related.
