Really I love Vietnam but honestly it just doesn't feel Vietnam to me. It feels like RS with more full-auto guns and helicopters. Half the levels are boringly desaturated, and every role just feels so much less purposeful and important than RS1 too.
I refunded it and MIGHT pick it up again after they've made it more unique. For now it's just.. ugh.. samey.
I kinda feel the same way. The gunplay is satisfying, the weapon variety is great, the graphic fidelity is good, the music is of course great, and it can be loads of fun at times, but it really does feel like a Vietnam mod for RS1.
I can tell they put effort into it but they skimped out on parts that I don't understand. Great helis, but no other vehicles at all? Two subfactions for both sides, but no real differences between them? Great graphics, but still using UR3? Gorgeous and immersive maps, but boring and often unbalanced?
For $15 it'd be worth it, but a $30 pricetag is too much. I'm holding out some hope though. Tripwire already said they'll be adding in Anzac (Australian) and ARVN (South Vietnam) as DLC later, so maybe they'll also add more vehicles and refine pre-existing content. It'd be nice in particular to see the NVA get some air power, since they did have a lot of pilots flying old surplus Soviet planes, and even a few modern jets flown by Soviet pilots themselves saw action. At least giving the NVA some air power options and maybe expanding those of the US would be good imo.
>Tripwire already said they'll be adding in Anzac (Australian) and ARVN (South Vietnam) as DLC later,
If it's not free it can fuck right off. I don't give a single flying fuck if it's "cheap" or not. You shouldn't charge for shit like that. An entire fucking faction??

I want this, but I also hope it's done gently. The fun of playing VC for me was running through the jungle knowing I am an ant fighting lions, ducking from helis and attacking as.. well, guerillas would.
>shotguns actually work past 10 feet
nice feeling
>Open beta coming soon
When?
dude yu should be able to jack helis like in bf2 vietnam expansion.
Wtf why wouldn't they add the ROK in the game? They were a bigger force than ausfailians
The only bad thing in the game imo is squad leaders being randomly assigned. It should be like the old games where you pick it so you don't end up with some shitter who dies all the time or doesn't build tunnels
Just ask him to promote you in squad VOIP user. Most people i've found are happy to pass it on to me when they don't know what to do.
I doubt they'll not make it free
that would mean splitting a low 4-digit community
how to improve rising storm 2 vietnam
>completely rework spupremacy with larger maps, clear routes to attack, and no capping for objectives not currently linked
>completely rework the UI so it's not an overdesigned piece of shit
>decrease gun model size to an acceptable level
How do I get good flying? It just feels like
I am flying a noodle flopping around everywhere.
And landing is even worse.
>shit map design
>shit gunplay
>shit OST
>supremacy is shit
>red/blue UI clashes with the green environments, looks like it was designed by a child
>doesn't feel like RO2/RS
>feels like a cheap bargain bin game at worst, a cheap cashgrab at most
people will defend this
They said all DLC will be free.
Also doesn't help that the controls are dog shit either.
>"Muh RO2/RS"
>implying RO2 isn't an abomination compared ro RO:OST
>muh RO is better than RO2 meme
I really fucking hate this. It doesn't fucking matter if RO is better than RO2 because RO is deader than a doorknob and people only play RO2.
If RO2 is such an abomination, what is RS2 then?
Cancer incarnate, that's right
Accept it, Tripwire fucked this game up massively
Just play Squad instead
>Squad
Why not PR?
prob because it's a western game for western audiences
HY68A-33AH4-HR0B4
enjoy
Thank you user!
is squad as good as PR yet
I'm fine with it to be honest. It doesn't open up an entirely new role that everybody jumps to simply because it has the better gun.
Have they announced anything that will be in the full game but not the beta? does the beta have all the maps?
PR is fun too, but the harsh truth is that it's slowly dying user, check PR spy, then check steamcharts for Squad and keep in mind that PR is free and Squad costs 40$. Still Squad has four times the playerbase and growing.
The Battlefield 2 engine is also horribly dated, everything from the visuals, to the gun handling, to the menus. Squad still needs polish and more content, but I already prefer it over PR.
It already has much more fun gunplay a much better UI and less clunky menus I'd say it's close
Once the new animation system gets added with V10, aswell as a new coreinventory that will allow stuff like secondary armament on vehicles, smoke launchers and many other improvements, I'd say so, then it just needs more content.
>fuck huge gun model taking up 1/3 of the screen
>still no fragmentation modeled
>ue3
It's shit
bump
PR is one of the most abominably bad shooters I've ever played.
>be military soldier
>walk off 4ft. high roof
>hit ground and take severe damage
>entire screen goes black and red and flashes every 2 goddamn seconds and never stops
kill me
>Helo buzzing our point
>Whip out my noobtube
>ram a rocket up their tailpipe and get a quadkill
>pic
>40mm buckshot round in the M79
The devs are Australian iirc.
>first game
>doing decent popping some gooks from the treeline
>eventually lose cause noobs were squad leaders and they kept crashing the helis
>2nd game on other team
>Everyone on voice chat starts doing shit like this
>"GO HOME GI"
>"GET OUT MY RICE"
>"CHINGCHINGCHONG"
Game is dope but could be better
>that chromatic aberration.
RIGHT INTO THE TRASH
I wish there was a way to toggle auto-level on/off in the helicopters.
I think that's just for the trailer, or at least an older version of the game. As far as I can tell there's no CA in the game.
Apart from the hitdetection sometimes being fucked it's ok.
ROK Arsenal would just be standard US weapons mixed with WW2 hand-me-downs ported from RS, they'd cop shit for being lazy and they just wouldn't be a fun faction to play as.
Australia offers a more distinct arsenal with the SLR, Owen gun and a top loading version of the Sterling SMG
>get in helicopter
>hit back blade on something
>spinning and can't stop
>entire server is laughing at me in public chat
>can't stop spinning
>commander is mad at me
>vote kick started
>vote kick failed
>still spinning
>5 minutes pass
>no one is helping
>end up building enough momentum to flip the helicopter and crash
it was a fucking nightmare
this game is fucking fun.
How's vc gameplay?
they can place booby traps, and their squad leaders can place spawn tunnels
aside from maps with helicopters, the gameplay is not quite as asymmetrical as RS1
hopefully it handles like it does in the BF games
BFBC2 was pretty good to handle once you got used to it
Didn't ausfags tear shit up in nam?
>needs more vehicles
What? Like tanks? Please. Imagine the incessant bitching from shitty tankers that got blown up because they got caught on a rock while trying to drive through dense jungle filled with gooks. Tanks would add nothing other than another layer of fuck that the devs have to attempt to balance.
>rework spupremacy with larger maps, clear routes to attack, and no capping for objectives not currently linked
Thank goodness you're not a dev
Ah so this is where all the hate is coming from.
Fucking Squad shills, nobody wants to play your dead game. Fuck off
Welcome to `nam, bitches
The heli controls in RS2 can be adjusted to be like Battlefield controls, though they are still more weighty than BF helis since BF is more arcadey.
The only problems with helis in RS2 are the auto-level that can't be toggled/disabled, and the fact that the netcode seems a little spotty with them. Flying them in the offline practice range feels less jittery than flying them in an online server.
Obviously they can't just throw tanks into the existing maps, but tanks and other ground vehicles were used plenty in Vietnam.
They just need to make some larger maps designed to accommodate them.
The same maps would accommodate the helicopters much better than the small infantry maps we have now as well.
>only special maps have tanks
It would be RO2 all over again
Half assed and poorly designed
Where are the PT boats and the Green Berets (and their hats)?
>It ain't me intensifies
Holy fuck, they finally learned to optimize their games. RS1 ran like utter shit for me, meanwhile this game is pure butter.
I really don't mind that they used UE3. I'd take a better running game over one that they're unfamiliar with and could potentially look a little better but also perform like fucking shit because they can't optimize for shit with it like 99% of devs using it.
I think a lot of the complaints people have will be worked out as people get used to the game.
"Too many autos! Maps are too cramped! Too much running and gunning! TWI wants the CoD audience!" People were saying the same exact thing after the release of RO2.
My problem with the game is the squad system. It doesn't encourage squad leading. It's less of a problem on the Viet side since their SLs can just drop a tunnel and forget about it. For US, there's less of an incentive for an SL to act as a dedicated spawn since he'll only be able to spawn 5 guys at the most. In RO2, the larger squads can spawn 8-12 guys. Quality SLs in charge of those squads can make the biggest difference on the outcome of a match.
Maybe it's something we just have to get used to and we'll start seeing more squad cohesion like in PR/Squad. I'm not that optimistic about it, though.
PT boats
>no maps at night
>no flares going up
>no tracers
>no terror
dropped
There are tracers, there also screams and banter. I doubt they'd leave out night maps in the full game.
I refunded. Game is pretty boring and feels terrible because of the free aim mouse look. Doesn't feel like vietnam at all either. The arty/air strikes are worse than cod levels of bad. Sounds are terrible on every weapon, and weapons feel weak. Suppression mechanic means you spend half your time with a blurry screen too.
Yes, it's quite excellent. Wish they made the compass visible at all times though.
>t. "I haven't actually played the game" shitposter
It does feel like they combined the worst aspects of RO1 and RO2 suppression
>join territories
>having a blast
>game ends and it changes to supremacy
>uninstall.exe
so is this like a more hardcore Battlefield or what?
ok serious. this or playerunknown's battlegrounds?
-thanks
>muh feels
Come back when you have a real argument
Yeah they're in every FPS thread marketing with webms
project reality got shilled here too so it's probably the same guys
Isn't territories the aimless battlefield mode where everyone just wanders around the map capping points? I prefer supremacy because teams actually have to be strategic by flanking to cut enemy points off
Gunplay sucks in PR
Why do they stoop so low? It's like Battleborn all over again.
Isn't there a "realistic mode" for helicopters you can turn on?
>Everyone can snapshot despite suppression
>sound is fucked so sometimes gunshots make no noise
>SAMs are hideously overpowered
>Hit detection is fucked
This game (other than being a reskin) has nothing to do with RS / RO2, it feels like a janky call of duty clone.
>just looked in my email
>had a beta key from 3 days ago sent
Fuck man how long is the beta going to last?
I had fun playing it, but I found that for one reason or another I've been way more prone to getting sniped at spawn than in Rising Storm which can be enough to make me quit after so many times. I also miss being on the Japanese forces and screaming BONZAIIIIIII as I ran into battle... at least give me a scream command
ever hold an m16 or an ak in real life user? they're not small and light.
tell the devs.
holy mother of fuck you mean this thing?
this game kicks ass and anyone talking shit about it needs to go back to battlefield one or battlegrounds like the gook shits they are.
If I prebuy now do I get beta?
And how long does it last. Is it just the weekend.
Absolutely agree.
Helicopters are fun, but fuck me, I feel like I'm sitting in a flying death basket. If the Viet Chongs don't send my bird swirlin my own piloting skills will.
game feels janky as fuck, movement is terrible and so is vaulting over things
I remember when I was 15 years old and playing this game while I go to filelfront and download a mod that allows you to have 124 bots in a map. Crashed many times but it was glorious.
It's UE3 and basically early access, what did you expect?
Some of the weapons seem useless or just plain bizzare.
Why use the SKS over the AK?
Why use any AK but the AKM?
Why fold the stock on anything since it means it's got worse recoil and you can't use the sights properly?
Why use any shotgun but the duckbill as murricans?
Why use the mosin over the SVD?
W H Y?
Are people still playing this and is it as good as it's made out? I don't know if the new Rising Storm's right for me, but I own Bad Company 2 and only hear good things about this
A better game after RO2
tripwire have been making shooters in unreal forever, how can they fuck it up so badly
this game is gonna die quicker than killing floor 2
>Why use the SKS over the AK?
higher one-shot kill probability
>Why use any AK but the AKM?
dunno, I just use the standard one, what's the difference?
>Why use the mosin over the SVD?
much more accurate imo
just like an m14 is better than m4 or m16, the sks is better in open terrain with better precision. An assault rifles is more better for close to medium range combat but if you're close to the enemy you'd rather just use a shotgun.
How did they make this game look so ugly, the character models are nightmare fuel.
>what's the difference?
AKM doesn't have a hooded front sight. Makes shooting at longer ranges a bit easier, especially if your target is moving.
Range. The SKS and M14 have longer range than the AK and M16 and I'm pretty sure the M14 does more damage too since it's chambered for 7.62 and not 5.56 like the M16 is. Can't say the same about the SKS and AK's damage though, they use the same ammunition but I'm sure Tripwire, those autists for detail, took the time to code that appropriately. On top of that, they're semiauto only so there's no chance you'll panic and magdump or waste ammo on something.
>shitting on the SKS
Confirmed bad at the game
>Why use the SKS over the AK?
Better stopping power. Good for long distance shooting as rifleman
>Why use any AK but the AKM?
The foldable stock one is overall best
>Why fold the stock on anything since it means it's got worse recoil and you can't use the sights properly?
Hip fire, especially in tunnels
>Why use any shotgun but the duckbill as murricans?
Good luck hitting shit on Hue.
>Why use the mosin over the SVD?
Optic rifles are for homosexuals
Did you even read my post
Yes but it doesn't get rid of the autolevel.
I've made some suggestion posts about it. Will continue to do so.
That shell might put a squirrel in the hospital
