>play a fun game
>ends on a cliffhanger
>the game sold so poorly it never gotten a sequel
Play a fun game
you rest sweet prince core design
The Darkness 2?
>game ends on a cliffhanger
>sold extremely well
>no sequel anyway
>Creators actually thought their shitpile was actually going to sell
Now Kingdom Hearts has been going for over a decade
Feels bad man, fuck Microsoft.
Damn that was a cool game. It's been so long since I played it, though. I don't remember a cliffhanger.
This game was like a proto-Nier.
MS should just port it to PC.
Lost Planet 3 exists.
>Metal Gear Rising
The game didn't sell badly, but it's pretty obvious there won't be a sequel because of how fucked Konami are. It'd probably just be another typical Platinum game, anyway.
>game sells unexpectedly well
>cultivates a solid following
>even gets remastered
>studio closed it's doors
>no sequel
>tfw there's never going to be a Psi-Ops 2
It was fun too which makes it hurt even more.
Hello bulletstorm
The cliffhanger was Seth gets sucked back into the immortal realm when they defeat the final boss and is seemingly stuck there
A sequel could've had Kaim and co. trying to travel over there to get her back, only to find Gongora wasn't defeated and has taken over that realm or some shit. Would've been cool.
...
It hurts not knowing what happened after the enemy team took over
That game was shit
>play a fun game
>ends on a cliffhanger
>game got pirated so much it ruined any chance of sequels
>play a fun game
>ends on a cliffhanger
>the game sold so great the devs don't need to make a sequel
Half Life 3 when?
>Darkness 2
>Fun
Hmm, made me think.
best game of my childhood FUUUUUUCK, I was like 9 when it came out and played with all my friends on the gamecube. The soundtrack was excellent too
kill yourself
You mean like this game?
I'll take shit that never happened for 500 Alex.
>game finally gets a sequel
>its a reboot/re-imagining that barely mentions the previous games if at all
>play a fun game
>meat circus
>Space Marine
and I am still salty
>years later, the miracle happens
>game gets sequel to finish the story
>it's fucking shit and makes you wish the game had stayed on the cliffhanger
Fucking I-Ninja, even though it didn't end on a cliffhanger
>mfw no sequel with another Tekayama beat-down boss fight
That first boss fight was so fucking cool
...
Not really on a cliffhanger, but fucking God Hand. I probably replayed it like 15 times, it's so fucking fun
It's an old one, but I thought it was fun as a kid.
>vehicle combat
>transforming guns
>great soundtrack
>spess mehreen style big armour aesthetics
>interesting although scant lore
>cliffhanger mentioning new gangs gearing up to attack
>still available on steam and still has some fans
>panned by critics, and publisher folded a couple of years after.
>no sequel
Too Human?
...
muh nigga
made you think how much we need a "the darkness 3", right?
...
>play a fun game
>ends on a cliffhanger
>devs got better source of money so they gave up on sequel
>creator rewrites the whole final game and changes his original story plans entirely so he "wouldn't get bored"
Why the FUCK is this allowed
>play fun game
>ends without resolving plot
>sells barely well enough to get a trilogy
>second installment is a step down in story
>third installment fucking ruins the whole goddamn series
Fuck I'm still salty. 999 should've never gotten any sequels.
Operation bluebird was a mistake
CoD campaigns are usually shit but I am sad that we didn't get Ghosts 2
>>second installment is a step down in story
kill yourself 999fag.
I came here to post this.
>Game ends with a teaser for the next game
>Next game is never made
...
Hoping this doesn't happen to Shenmue but I also don't really care about the story in those games because it was easily the most boring part of them
999 is the better game. VLR is the more enjoyable game.
terra nova strike force centauri
shattered steel (the only good bioware game)
countless, really.
;_;
>ZTD the worst
>not grateful for getting a game that wraps everything up instead of a game with a unresolved cliffhanger
I had a good time with Bulletstorm once it was $20. I don't even want a sequel though now that Gearbox is in charge.
>ends on a cliffhanger
>sequel never comes
>10 years later, the writer explains what was going to happen after the cliffhanger
>it's disappointing and shit and you're almost glad it didn't get made
I just wanted to play more of this, I really liked the music and gameplay. Even if it was frustrating as balls.
>Harpies will always dive bomb me if I start casting
>Slimes will literally always juke out of the way if I try and attack head on.
;_;
>ends on cliffhanger/sequel hook.
>sells poorly.
>gets a small quasi-sequel that more or less confirms that they ain't finish yet.
>sells poorly.
>devs get put on other projects by microsoft, fans say they'll wait.
>devs put out video straight up saying the series is on hold.
>original game loses music lisences and is now being pulled from stores.
I there is rumors of a sequel being developed and I saw the tease in QB but until an official announcement comes out my balls remain blue.
You sure that's not the Mass Effect series?
Because that's how it went
Bulletstorm
I'm replaying Prince of Persia for Elika.
I'm not even sure if it sold that poorly. Maybe it's just that it was overshadowed by AC.
Man I'm so pissed Darkness 2 ended like it did. I considered picking up the comics but I dunno if it's the same story lines
Didn't PsiOps also end on a huge cliff hanger too
>Half Life 2
I guess you could count the episodes, but...
I only knows this exists because the producer of Video Games Live is its only rabid fan.
It was shit.
...
>play a fun, self-contained game with lots of replay value
>there's a sequel anyways
...
Megaman Legends 2!
Eh, wonderful game but I wouldn't call the ending a cliffhanger. It left things open for a sequel with Seth for sure but no impending doom or anything. Seth lends help to the party from the other realm to escape and makes an "appearance" at the wedding, so I'd say she was able to take care of Gongora once she crossed.
I just discovered this the other day while reading up on some Daikatana info. Excited to start it soon.
What game?
Even the original Dreamfall should never have existed. Chapters ties up the cliffhangers, but as a whole the story is still inferior than just TLJ taken on its own.
Ghost Masters?
>fun game
>sold well, had a strong fanbase
>EA or other cancerous publisher buys rights
>fucks with developer so much that the studio closes down
>game never gets a sequel
Maybe they shouldn't have named it like that.
>What game are you playing?
>It's called eight
>Eight?
>Yeah, check out the cover
>But it say Vee Ai Ai Ai...
hi
;_;
>Game ends right as the story is revealed
>There is confirmed to never be a sequel
It's not fair, it's not right
That's 13 not 8 my dude.
>game
Silly, 8 is VIII and 13 is XIII.
Does Prince of Persia 2008 count? Actually had a real good that a real grey choice with saving the girl but letting the evil god or whatever free.
Too bad it only got some real shitty DLC that shouldn't have existed.
D4
Not even the PC port saved it
>mfw jericho will never get a finale season or movie
gotcha force
you can use witch borgs with the power to enlarge or shrink allies/enemies
what is advent rising
I thought you said fun user
See
...
This and Darkwatch were both supposed to be this whole elaborate "media event" but the debut games flopped so it never came to pass. Advent was more successful on that front though I guess.
sleeping dogs
Aren't there like 4 or 5 splatterhouse games?
rip United Front
Came here to post this
I see you bought Vanquish on Steam too.
>tfw the sequel will NEVER come out
>play a fun game that ends on a cliffhanger
>dev goes on to make dogshit like the Conan games
>sequel is eventually released but you don't care anymore
>play a fun game that ends on a cliffhanger
>a sequel is allegedly coming but it's made by nU-bisoft and it's guaranteed to be a turd
>play a fun game that ends on a cliffhanger
>lmao number three DOESN'T EXIST, NOW GIVE ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER
Got a reboot in 2010.
So many unanswered questions/a pretty interesting world that was second banana to an unengaging plot.
I still hate you for this Capcom.
> Fans try to create a passable sequel with their own hands
> It actually looks cool and well made
> Gets C&D
Well at least Remedy is free from Microsoft now. Maybe one day there'll be Alan Wake Director's Cut that'll be the game they originally wanted to make. It's stupid how Alan Wake suffers from openworld-itis (dogshit encounter design, repetitiveness) despite being a linear game. But looking at the maps it's pretty clear that they had to make it a linear game quite late into developement.
>play a fun game
>ends with a satisfying end with no real room for a sequal
>the game sold so poorly it never gotten a sequel but then it did
