Demon's souls is subjectively the best game in the soulsborne genre. It created a platform, a great story, a standing ground for greatness to be built on. Without Demon's souls Bloodborne, Dark souls wouldn't exist. Demon's souls II will the rise of the Phoenix from ashes

None of the Souls games have good lore. It's just the thrill of being able to put two and two together, like a jigsaw puzzle or Where's Waldo.

You'd have a point if there was actually more stuff worth picking up in a single level than you could carry.
In the case of the Souls franchise, I generally do play exclusively for gameplay outside of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, and that's because those games DID have good lore and interesting worlds and some really memorable characters.
And the reason why I care so much in the case of Dark Souls 2 and 3 when it comes to lore, especially 3, is because they are sequels to my second favorite game of all time. And they are both extreme steps down from the worldbuilding and characters of Dark Souls 1. And not only are they major steps down, but in some cases they go out of their way to spit on the first game. For example, the not one, but TWO instances of "hurr is an illusion" with Ornstein, and the absolute change of the lore of the Firstborn in Dark Souls 3.

I'm so baffled about how you guys are so desperate for them to make yet another Souls game. I'm way more interested in seeing what else they are capable of doing after all the success.
Personally i would prefer a new IP from Fromsoft, for me after playing over 1khrs over the last 3-5 years soulsborne is just too repetitive at this point.
I would like a game that still features a depressing dark fantasy story but nothing with big monsters that need to be fought with that same gameplay mechanics soulsborne featured.
I would prefer a 20-30hrs story based singleplayer game that draws me into the story and makes sure im fascinated by the world and the characters rather than expecting me to explore the story myself like soulsborne did.

I don't think we played the same game. Demon's Souls sticks to 30 fps for the most part and the carrying weight was never an issue, the game lets you get a ring that greatly increases your item load in the first area.
