Congratulations, you've been hired to make a Souls game

But you can't use the settings used in Demon's/Dark Souls or Bloodborne.

How would you make the game, Sup Forums?

I take the money and run.
No way I'm going to deal with the autistic fanbase, but I will anounce it has vita exclusive before leaving just to fuck with them.

A Rune sequel

Wild West setting with cryptids as enemies.
No faggot ass straightswords or thrusting swords.
There'll be gunslingers and STR weapons.

Scifi horror souls

Native American folklore.
They have some creepy stuff.

I call From and inform them that someone is trying to run a scam with their IP.

Mecha Souls. Just to spite the ac fags

I make a souls game in the Armored Core universe.

...

Heartless bastards.

Set it in the future after a nuclear holocaust. Enemies consist of mutants, bandits, robots, and mutant bandit robots.

Pitch 3 Ideas.

Revive the Tenchu Franchise and Blend Souls style gameplay and Level design with Tenchu stealth and Mobility

Make some Greek style Souls game with all their fucked up mythology and have the main character be just a play thing of the gods.

H.P. Lovecraft Borne Like game in set in WW1 times

Demon's Souls with poise

>Make some Greek style Souls game with all their fucked up mythology and have the main character be just a play thing of the gods.
Isn't that just Apotheon

Sultante Souls

Deserts and shit.

BUY IT

Dark Soles, it'll be an intense game about intuitive slave based combat against a horde of cotton plants.

Warhammer setting you play as Chaos Space Marine.

So Prince of Persia but more souls-y?

Oh shit. I had No idea that was a thing.

The entire game is set in a poison swamp.

You could have gone a feet fetish route but you didn't.

Weak

Maybe because I'm not a degenerate like you

Metastreumic Souls.
License the EYE IP from Streum-on and consult them for lore. Make a souls game with lore even more confusing and batshit than usual and combat that goes cuhrazy at high levels.

This setting is so fucking ripe with possibilities it's not even funny, all the gods and human sacrifice shit, especially for a Soulsborne game. It would be incredible. Needs to be used in more games in general, really

I'll buy it before I buy your game, Todd

>every weapon is a volcanic glass nailboard

>he takes a lump sum instead of a steady cash flow over time

In a giant moody dour and raining mountainous forest. Some cave segments here and there, maybe an old abandoned village or two or some cabins spread here and there. The player is a fox that battles and gets help from some other animals, wolf packs could work great as enemies as do owls. Wasp nests could work as traps and platforming segments would be really easy to implement as the fox climbing a ravine or something. Bosses is a hard one though... One could maybe be a bear, one could be a forest fire and I guess one could put in some mythological stuff like sprites and that kind of stuff. Bonfires/save points can be fox-earths/holes in the ground where the fox can sleep. Weapons and customization might be the boring part as you are a fox, but longer claws, different furs and that kind of thing might work. Maybe shift animal to a badger/wolverine or something also

Theme is some cosmic event is collapsing time in on itself. Places from different times and world's mixing together.

One section could be medieval Japan and the next an apocalyptic future

You can collect gear from each area. So you could have a Katana with a Riot shield wearing a high tech helmet and Spartan armor

Use Hindu/Buddhist lore for the setting and monsters. Instead of souls, you gain karma. End goal is attaining enlightenment or an end to the death/reincarnation cycle. Bring back world tendency and tie it into good and bad karma. I'd also like to add more unarmed combat options.

Ass Souls. Game where you fuck every thing up the ass for massive damage.

That's just regular Dark Souls though

a 3D remake of chakan the forever man

Dark Souls is medieval themed
Ass Souls is gachimuchi themed

it is sickening how you can push this lame gameplay into any setting you like....

why would I make a souls game ?
this game line is fail.
would not list this game on job application.

The mechanic is that universally transferrable. One could make a souls game in the Bayonetta/Devil May Cry setting but fuck the person who does that.

Anyone can push gameplay into any setting they like.

I can make a pirate-themed rail shooter, a stealth game set in the Crusades, a CUHRAYZEE set in the Metal Gear Solid universe, etc.

Set in a cyberpunk Nazi era where you play as a demigay wheelchair-bound black jew systematically fighting all the big bosses such as Adolf DEMONLER, Afroebbells, even TURBO-JEW, the backstabbing goyimlover.

Only you can't actually win, even when you stop playing jews somehow keep dying (up to a max of 60 gorrillion), and if you defeat all the bosses, you still get oppressed.

the sad thing is that this garbage rolling, healing and slashing simulator is selling like hot cakes despite the fact that your average medieval dude is now a robot

I make a medieval fantasy setting of dragons, swords and sorcery, but the setting itself is different.
Probably something similar to Warhammer in tone, a crazy ass world with way too much magic and mortality.

I'd style it with brighter/cleaner environments. The type you see in SNES fantasy games like LttP, Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger concept art.

I'd dramatically improve character customization and look to Soul Calibur 1 and 2 for inspiration on character and armor design.

Setting can be fantasy 17th century. Instead of a journey through ruins and empty castles, you travel through a prosperous Empire, working with the military and church to fight an evil pouring into the land, corrupting forests, villages and cities. You can also go to uncorrupted cities and towns for side quests.

Very basic story, but that's the Dark Souls way.

Miyazaki only did two themes and he's done with the series, so I'm guessing anything that strays too far from the medieval knights and monsters theme or lovercraftian steampunk theme isn't going to work.

But I feel we need one more Bloodborne-esque game, and after seeing a really good suggestion and giving it some thought, it should be set in the Old West. It's the best comprimise I've heard between new IP and spiritual successor, while retaining a majority of the gameplay elements, overworld aesthetic (only thing you miss out on is large cities and castles) and instead of the main lovercraftian twist being aliens it would be more centered on powerful paranormal entities that have very simple names like 'Jim' and 'Adam' in typical western fashion. Most of the outfit and weapon designs from Bloodborne would still work as well.

As far as gameplay goes, I don't see much changes from Bloodborne being needed, even regarding transforming weapons, aside from upping bullet damage and making ammo more sparse, unless for some reason dual-wielding guns becomes a thing.

I would also like for poise to be active against gunfire at least, it can be really annoying how long they tend to stagger. There'd be lots of bar fights.

Cyberpunk Souls

Dumb weebs the lot of you. Souls games should never be set in the future.

WW1-era Bloodborne sequel set in not-Innsmouth, lots of Lovecraftian baddies and bosses, etc.

give it level design that isn't shit (like all the Dork Souls games)

give it a fucking map so you don't have to be an autistic manchild to play it.

remove the shitty WOOPS YOU LE DIED XDD shit that you couldn't possibly predict.

remove the multiplayer reddit shit.

there, fixed your trash game.

Higher people on the team that can actually program and design a large monster boss where in the camera doesn't absolutely shit the bed.

I wouldn't.
Three games were enough.

So how many times did you die to the Taurus Demon, user?

40k title playing as an inquisitor Witch hunter hunting Xenos, Daemons, and heretical mutant cults in the grimy underbelly and luxurious spires of an Imperial Hiveworld. You can have your pick of being a tanky space marine melee and heavy weapons, an agile jumpy gunslinger assassin or a psyker wizard.

>I never got past the Taurus Demon

How about.... Dark Souls in 1980's Miami?

Anime Souls
It's pretty much the same thing as normal souls but all the dudes are Kenshiro (and Patches) in armor and all the girls are cute waifus (and Patches)

Also there's a lot more girls

South American aztec themed game where you begin by fighting against different tribes, and end up fighting American cryptids like Big Foot, Chupacabra, and others.

>implying patches isn't a cute girl

the surge but warhammer 40k setting. You wake up from a pile of corpses last one alive from your squad and continue to delve deeper into the hive world to finnish your mission.

Urban Fantasy set in a fantasy world that advanced to modern times.

Apart of standard fantasy races seen in Japan's rendition of fantasy, there would be a lot of non-standard fantasy races.

Also everything is falling apart, the streets are filled with techno-organic abominations and it's up to you to fix this shit.

Also bonfires are replaced with biological copy machines that will recreate you molecule by molecule when you die with your memory intact and from the moment of your last death.

Can play as a melee oriented class, magic class, a ranged weapons specialist or any combination in various doses. Thus you can play as a pyromancer samurai cowboy with a skeletal horse motorcycle with burning wheels (to make Ghost Rider feel envious).

That would be cruel.

Will there a set legion/warband? Or can you choose your legion/warband?

Death Space Setting with the armor and the Xenomorphs.

First I make it Switch Exclusive and rename it Metroid Souls. Then, after receiving fellatio from Nintendo for saving their garbage flagship console, I hire CD Prosjekt Red and the Eden Rei hentai artists to code the game and design the assets, then Nobuo Uematsu and Daft Punk to make the soundtrack. I also get the old guy from Dungeon Keeper to be the narrator for the intro. After about 2-3 years we release the first DLC: Primal, and DLC: Origins. Then I bathe in gold.

Sci-Fi souls I'd ape the idea of constant death driving undead mad in dark souls lore for a post singularity thing with people as ai living forever.

On a derelict mining ship or something in deep space where everyone's gone insane cause of the constant dying.

going full autist here

>Set in the fall of Rome
>your job is to light the pillars to alert Constantinople that Rome needs aid
>you fight undead barbarians, war elephants, giant wolves, cyclopes etc... bests that adhere to roman lore
>'When Rome cries, the heroes of Rome come to her aid' or some shit... known historical figures wake up to aid you
>Marcvs Avrelivs is there for nerd points
>you gather men and resources as you light the pillars
>ends with a gigantic battle for Rome
>Constantinople forces arrive
>They came to conquer not liberate
>end scene of the pillars and famous Roman buildings being destroyed
>end game

late middle ages with muskets and plate armor in an south american setting

DARK WARS !!!!!1111unouno

I'm not making your shitty Sci-Souls op, your limiters mean nothing because I'll be making modern day japan souls.

...

theres literally nothing interesting about modern japanese culture

It'll be the setting, not the focus.

Aside from the liberal use of Roman historical figures and their actual names, this could totally work.

Mesoamerican

Aztec gods because they're basically DS bosses already, Mesoamerican, Indonesian and Indian architecture, lots of jungles, rivers, lakes and rainforests

makes a egyptain setting with ayy lmao illuminati pyramids and shit

or since from likes forest i can makes african setting with voodoo curses

Pre historic (ancient Egyptian or Roman) bosses themed after the 12 zodiac signs / constellations

Deep Souls

the game is set in the age of deep sea. In the intro, you're a soldier with an army fighting towards the first throne (a giant cinder throne forged from thousands of bonfire swords. Your army is slaughtered in battle by the forlorn before they can reach the throne, and you are fatally wounded. As your character dies almost within reach of the throne, they reach out and a solitary spark lifts from the faded throne and enters your body. Dark water then swarms into the chamber from the outside, snuffing out the first flame and beginning the age of deep sea.

You begin the game at the bottom of the ocean, and have to fight your way through all sorts of abominable lovecraftian deep sea creatures on a quest to reach the only point in the world still above water, and retrieve a key of avowal to open the gate to the great bridge into the realm of God, who harbors the last remnants of an ancient flame and plans for the final death of this world.

As a character, you are no longer an undead you are something called "the blessed". You rest at anchors embedded in the sediment instead of bonfires, and instead of tranforming into a hollow when killed you become some sort of skeletal squid/crab creature. There are two hubs, one in the real world and one that serves as a sort of pocket dimensional realm you keep inside a shell on your back, like a hermit crab.

You can enter your shell any time you want and level up, retrieve items, change your loadout, buy items depending on the NPCs you invite into it, ect. If you go into your shell during an invasion, invaders can find your shell and break in and fight you inside it. And if you're in danger from enemies in the real world there's a time limit for how long you can stay in the shell before it breaks and you have to come out. Shells get worn with time and you can find/pick up and try out new shells as you go along, like a hermit crab.

Just do an HD remake of the first game with new textures and stuff like that. Fuck the sequels

Industrial Revolution-era England.

Bosses are versions of Jack the Ripper, Mr. Hyde, etc.

The main theme would be transition from human to some fucked up monstrosity, just like some bosses from BB (Ludwig for example) turned into abominations. You would start as a human, but slowly "evolve" into something else with some spoopy abilities and look & moveset straight from uncanny valley.
It would be a tale about how pursuit for power ruins your soul/

cosmic science fiction doing with biblical angels, demons and reckonening

Play darksiders nigga

this is a good idea

the better you do the better you are reborn/with buffs/as a diff form???

THATS IT. NO CHARACTER CREATOR. YOUR NEXT CHARACTER IS GENERATED BY VALUES FROM YOUR LAST LIFE.

All of these are good answers

Australian Outback.

All the bosses would be based on Australia wildlife.

Final Boss is a Drop Bear that fell from the moon.

>shitty zelda ripoff
>size of tonka figures
>piss poor combat
nah bro we're talking about souls style games

Not a bad plan, no-one owns a vita so no-one will possibly be able berate you for not making the game.

/tg/ reporting:
i'd love to see them do something in a desert/ruined earth setting.
the aesthetic is tough to beat

I would play any modern DS game, really.

Sci fi souls but guns viable; make the gun mechanics really good while keeping the formula.

I would make an action-packed DS in which you fight countless Knights (The ones alive who behave as other players) in a holy empire with the objective to kill the Pope.

No more sewers, tombs, swamps & bullshit. Only cities, castles, and gardens in a place touched by light and high in a mountain

it sounds like you guys just want to play a game other than DS honestly
mite b cool tho

I'd slide out some shitty game about fighting in exo-suits with distracting electric chainsaws that just look like Transformers slapping against each other.

I love dark souls's gameplay, but i completely hate the locations of it apart from some exceptions like the boreal valley, dragon shrine, etc.

I'll just just remake Zelda II as a Souls game.

Zelda II already feels like one already, being hard as fuck and the "Experience Points" mechanic that is very similar to souls gathering.

>You can make a souls game!
>But you can't use the settings from other souls games
>Bloodborne is a souls game
I tell them to fuck off.

Basically Souls style SMT; fight creatures and deities from various mythologies.

i dont even mind a labyrinth or two. they just seem cramped in DS generally.
They could learn a thing or two fromHalo as far as ambiance goes

I'd call it Fag Souls. A game about OP set in his house where he fags things up all day by fishing for full penetration "backstabs".

I go for a science-fiction horror game. I'd make it kinda atompunk at first, with a grimy, hidden horror underneath. So you start off fighting robots, and end up with body horror and the breaking down of this setting as other threats are revealed.

>Forgetting volcanic glass daggers and stone hammer/great hammers.
