1440p60 IPS vs 1080p144 FreeSync

I know this is more of a Sup Forums question but I want an answer from a purely gaming perspective.

1440p60 IPS - bigger display with great color

1080p144 freesync - regular size, high frame rate, and freesync for my amd card

Both at the same price.

On the newest games, I can't reach 144fps, most are around 100fps. Is it still worth considering the 144hz displayinstead of the bigger one which will run everything at higher detail and with better colors? What do you prefer?

1440p

Because anything past 60hz is pointless and just a meme

stop being a poorfag and buy 4k already you disgusting piece of shit

1440p144 G-Sync

144hz

Because anything past 1080p is pointless and just a meme

I'd go 1080p if purely for gaming.

Overall I'd recommend 4k 60 (and then output games at the appropriate resolution depending what your PC can handle, 4k is brilliant for normal work/internet/movies)

10bit 16:10

if you go above 60hz, you risk becoming more and more allergic to both 60fps and anything below it.

Got the acer xb240h and god damn, the difference in frames amazing, remember switchung from a CFT to a TFT? Yeah, something like that.

All I have to say is: If you cant maintain 144fps, 144hz is pointless.
Yes 100 is better than 60 but your framerate will be oscillating a lot and constant 60 is still better than 80 to 110.
But this is just my opinion.

8K 60

This is my fear. That I won't be able to run some games with nice visuals at 144fps and being disgusted with 60fps.

>5000 dollars

pc gaming lmao

Master race

>implying that's intended for gaming

This but not because anything past 1080p is a meme but because refresh rate is always better than resolution

Unless you play mostly RTS games

I have that monitor, it's fucking great. Only downside is it's TN instead of IPS. Having gsync and 144hz and 1440p resolution is awesome for every game I've played on it

I can deal with 60 but not lower, after getting used to 144hz 30fps feels almost like watching stop motion footage

It's basically impossible to tell the difference once you get over 100. I'm sure some autists can but in the middle of a game I sure can't.

>ywn be american

every time i want to buy hardware i see it for something like 80% off and it comes with some AAA game

meanwhile any EU shop is retail price + arbitrary 25% markup

I wonder if it'd work out cheaper if i ask my friend who moved over to clapistan recently to buy a GPU and shit it over to me

Neck yourself console fucktard, it's for high-end video and photo editing not gaming. Not even 4k will be a standaed until well into the 2020s.

>Because anything past 60hz is pointless and just a meme

His eyes can't see

if you used it for a week you'd notice a massive difference between 100 and 144

really want to buy 1070, no point buying a stop-gap 1080ti or worse 1080. but having to buy g-sync is killing my student loads budget. been 1080p 60hz forever, want to upgrade to 1440p 120/144hz. is it worth waiting until next generation of graphics cards in 1-2 years? seems like new panels are really affordable yet for students.

Yes but can you maintain 100fps all the time?
Based on my experience, I had to constantly lower the max fps to 75 because getting 40fps drops on some games was fucking cancer (especially when you consider how poorly optimized some games are).

stick with 1080p 60hz until you get a proper job after college. It might be out of date but it's cheap and acceptable.

BOTH
Nvidia, AMD, and Intel are all American companies, so they don't have to pay import fees. The CD keys for the free games can be region locked too.

Is this the jackpot? This is approx 350 eur/390 usd

>not having 1440p 144hz G-Sync IPS
Why not both

Only if you're buying high-end, but at that stage you may as well spend the extra 50 or so bongs for the faster delivery and less hassle all around.

Anyone here played with 240hz? If you have 144hz with lightboost is there still a difference?

GSYNC FAGS OUT OF THE THREAD
THIS IS A SAFE SPACE FOR SMART CONSUMERS

>TN
>Freesync

IPS G-sync is the only way to go. Freesync is just inferior.

>Smart consumers
>G-sync is literally better than freesync

Fun fact, you can still get screen tearing with freesync, unlike G-sync

I've seen a 240hz monitor but it wasn't for gaming so i really couldn't say if there's a major difference or not, it was in some RAF open day thing.

>HUARR DUARRR THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 60 AND 144HZ
>t. bronze league shitters

>All these people not holding out for quantum dot backlit 4K 144hz

>what is ironic shitposting

I have two 1080p60 monitors same model, the only way you can get me to upgrade is by making 4K cheaper soi can buy two of the same, The 1440p jump isn't big enough.

Remember don't fall for the gsync meme if your monitor goes above 60Hz. You can find a nice 1440p 144Hz monitor for roughly 300 bucks that doesn't have that overpriced gsync attached.

>All these people not holding out for 8K 500hz SED TVs

If i held out for every new thing that comes out i'd never get around to buying anything.

These are the monitors I'm talking about

If you can find anything better for the same price, I'm listening.

Maybe not, but the 144Hz jump is.

>meanwhile any EU
Try being middle eastern, fuckboy.

I only buy second hand, i just bought a 6600k for 180 euro's used. It will last me years.

SED is dead, all R&D has stopped.

You're lucky you weren't buying shit second hand a decade or so ago, 90% of the shit you'd buy was likely used to mine.

1440p60 IPS, easily. Better experience all around outside of those high fps games. Lots of games don't even care about higher FPS, like those console-ported 60fps locked games.

You'll only benefit from games like what, CSGO? That's it.

VS an IPS's image quality, along with a higher resolution for everything on the market.

The real choice is 4K 60 IPS, though. They're only 300+ on ebay, and 400+ at official retailers nowadays?

Human eye can't see past 30Hz, get the bigger one unless you're buying it for you're cat.
