Am I an autistic retard if I have no idea what the fuck MGS games were about after playing all of them? The story is complicated beyond comprehension.

Yes, you're a retard.

Yep you're retarded

Holy shit are you really that dumb.

Yeah you may think the other 3 posts above are just messing but you're actually retarded if you can't grasp the story of them.

nobody actually knows we just pretend to. in reality kojima is a hack and a shit writer but I still enjoy his games

Ignore the faggots, that shit is all over the place and if you'll have to read a shit ton on wikis to get everything straight. Especially with all the Philosophers/Patriots/AI/Cypher
cluster fuck that I still don't fully understand

surely you aren't really that stupid

Did the ending 4 really ruin the entire game?

You're either a retard or you weren't paying attention. MGS2 gets a little weird, but other than that they're pretty easy to follow.

What's wrong, user? Was my master plan too complicated for you to follow?

The every single explanation to any question you might have after playing MGS games is nanomachines, son

MGS 4 spends three quarters of its gametime explaining shit. You just didn't pay attention or you're shitposting

MGS 4 ruined the entire canon

metalgeartimeline.com

They're not complicated. They're just badly written.

It's a fucking convoluted mess but the gist of it is easy to follow.

Some of the smaller details are Star Wars EU level retarded though.

Conveluted.

>Some of the smaller details are Star Wars EU level retarded though.

You mean like the reason that Palpatine built a massive fleet of Star Destroyers and a bunch of superweapons was primarily to fight an extra-galactic race of religious zealots that threatened his power and the organised Rebellion was created inadvertently by a Vader plot gone wrong?

that's perfectly normal, dont worry. The writer of this bullshit is a nutjob surrounded by yes men.

anything after mgs2 doesnt matter

Thank god that's retconned

It's about a regular soldier who becomes a super spy by coincidence who is built up to be the strongest super soldier ever and has his jeans used to make perfect baby clones of his recessive and dominant traits but goes nuts because putting a literal autist on the battlefield is not a good idea and so he makes a sovereign nation of soldiers with his best buddies who are also fighting soldier autists and comes up with a plan to overthrow the world's corrupted powers by doing a bunch of pretending with a dude he forcibly changed memories of and his best buddies in order to make one of his clone babies kill his former commander and then himself three times

MGS story is about honor, loyalty, pride. And about how the Media and everything is controlled by the Illuminati. It's not that hard to understand.

Here Alex Jones will explain
youtube.com/watch?v=c8cFGX_YaiA

MGS games are proof that if the gameplay is good enough, you can get away with having a barely coherent story.

>Thank god that's retconned

Eh. Only Zahn ever did it well, like with everything else.

war is bad, AI is bad, human spirit is good

that's it

I enjoyed it user. But wasn't that music from deus ex?

there was a lady named the boss and she was a soldier and she was so rad that everyone wanted to be in her fan club

big boss was her disciple and he worked for the US government but then they got in a fight over principles and became enemies

big boss became a crazy warmonger and the US government became literally the illuminati

something something genetic testing, solid snake, super soldiers, solid snake mercs big boss and then rogue US super soldiers get mad and go apeshit in alaska with nukes

snake kills them and disarms the nukes but it was really all some big controlled event by the illuminati who is actually being controlled by AI because the government set it up in the 70s to run their shit when they couldn't

then the illuminati stages a terrorist event on an oil rig with the president who is actually a big boss clone and then it turns out the event was a simulation to make more versions of solid snake because he's just that good

then the government keeps pumping soldiers full of drugs because it makes them really cool and strong but then one of the guys from alaska comes back and wants to destroy the illuminati AI

also solid snake is a shitty clone of big boss so he ages quickly and then old men fight on top of a submarine and fist fight while cool music plays and then big boss comes back because he didn't actually die and they hug it out like father and son and talk about war being shit

some faggot just reuploaded the original with a different name youtube.com/watch?v=sUIcCyPOA30

Oh, well makes me not like it very much anymore. >:(

I like you

eh people made their own version of this clip a bunch of times now, there is even a Evangelion one

There's a soldier who goes rogue after his mentor dies and becomes a military dictator. He gets cloned three times and one guy is made into his lookalike to act as a decoy. One of his clones first kills the decoy, then him, then one of the other clones who went rogue, then helps another guy kill the third clone and then helps destroy an evil AI network made by the illuminati that has forced the world into a state of constant war.

Sure, there's more to it than that but, at the most basic level, that's what happens.

many of the plot elements are batshit insane, but the themes and messages are fairly evident

PC fag here, I want to try all MGS games, is this the best course of action?:

play MGS1 on PC
buy a used PS3 and play MGS 2-3-4-PW
buy MGSV on PC

Am I missing something?

I'm pretty sure you can buy mgs1 on the playstation store on ps3

Play them all on PS
get a Gameboy and play ghost babel before 1 though

Soldiers didn't get better. There was no soldier gene.

Big Boss and Venom Snake were good because they thought on the field and were comfortable in hostile territory.

Through the years being a soldier was less about ability and composure and more about how much tech you have inside of you.

Some old guys want to rule the world. Some not old guys don't want the world to be ruled by some old guys. The old guys pretty much win the war, but the not old guys win little battles here and there.

Old guys want to use nukes because nukes aren't as expensive or temperamental as soldiers. However, everyone has nukes so the old guys want to figure out how to get the best nukes ever, only that is expensive and it requires people to make those for you, and those people are temperamental.

So the old guys decide to just do away with nukes and people by making artificial intelligences who aren't temperamental. However, they are expensive, and you need temperamental people to make those AIs for you, so they just decide to pay everybody because everything is expensive anyways, and they try to make people less temperamental with drugs and robots and stuff, but people are still temperamental so it all breaks down.

They're still paying everyone though, so it's okay.

It's not that hard to understand.

Legendary soldier called the Boss dies for her country. (MGS3)

Her fans, Big Boss and Zero create the Illuminati. Zero wants to unify the world, thinking that's what the Boss wanted. Big Boss disagrees. Zero clones Big Boss (Solid and Liquid Snake) and becomes enemies with Big Boss. Zero sends Solid Snake to kill Big Boss. (MGS4 backstory, Peace Walker, Metal Gears 1 / 2)

Liquid tries to create a military state on Shadow Moses Island using a nuclear weapon but Solid Snake stops him. (MGS1)

A third clone, Solidus wants to try and take down the Illuminati by stealing one of their weapons but is stopped by Raiden. It turns out the whole game was orchestrated by the Illuminati to replicate Shadow Moses to prove they could control information on such a massive scale. Solidus dies and Raiden / Snake / Otacon decide to take down the Illuminati. (MGS2)

Liquid lives on by possessing Ocelot because his severed arm was attached to his body. Liquid wants to take down the Illuminati and the whole game is him manipulating Solid Snake into doing so. The Illuminati is destroyed and Liquid dies. Big Boss is still alive because Zero secretly kept him into a coma. Big Boss kills an elderly Zero, has a tearful goodbye with Solid Snake and dies. (MGS4) Also Ocelot wasn't really possessed by Liquid, he was just pretending to fool the Illuminati into sending Solid Snake after him because they would repeat the pattern, because Solid Snake killed Liquid in MGS1, Ocelot wanted the Illuminati to think he was Liquid so they'd send Solid Snake after him who Ocelot knew was the only one skilled enough to bring down the Illuminati but you better forget all this bit because it's fucking stupid.

Simple, no?

you might just be dumb, start with harry potter

No cause the MGS series is like the exemplar of shit writing.

So, basically, this chick has a son who is taken from her by her dads friends and given to the Russians so he can spy on them, while at the same time, electro-man has the most money evar.
Skip a few years, said chick got a new son who she calls 'Naked Snake', and they go on adventure where he kills all her friends, herself, beats up her son and Snake leaves with all the money which is stolen by a Chinese spy, but no, not really.
Later, Snake gets a new name, that being Big Boss and makes a gay fanclub for himself so he can molest children, but it gets blown up by a guy named Skullface, so Big Boss tries again but this time makes 2 and gives one of them to his creepy stalker look-alike.
Few years later, Big Boss' kid destroys his frst base, his robot, his stalker, and then a few years later his kid does the exact same thing but also kills Big Boss.
Big Boss' kid, Solid Snake, decides to retire, but Big Boss' weeb friend and Snake's buttbuddy want him to infiltrate another remote base run by a guy who at some point had the codename Snake (but this time it's Liquid Snake).
The two fight and Snake kills all of Liquid's friends, and then Snake kills Liquid and leaves with his new weeb friend, or a chick (if you're a fucking faggot).
A few years later, Snake and his weeb friend try to take pictures of a new robot but one of Liquid's """"friends""""" shows up to steal it, and then Liquid's """""friend"""""(ocelot) starts getting mind controlled by Liquid's arm he had put on him to replace his old one.
In short, the robot destroys the tanker Snake was infiltrating, and escapes with the robot.
2 years later, a trap infiltrates a base where the tanker went down only to find out that he might be in a simulation and that maybe nothing was real and his fake-dad (also named Snake) killed his real parents, and he gets mindfucked so hard he becomes a robot.
Then Snake and the trap robot, as well as Snake's weeb friend go on some fun adventures and Big Boss dies attheend

Used PS3 and the legacy collection and gz/tpp on steam i suppose

Yes, you just lack the capacity to properly understand text, dialog and visual explanation of the events the games depict, it's okay though, a bunch of people pretend they understand.
