This is possibly one of the weirdest and ambitious games I've ever played, but at the same time it's just terrible. It's like Silent Hill Team took the feedback of the first few silent hill games but made a complete parody out of it. I love how uncanny everything is but sometimes it's just too much. The pacing is also just terrible. How did this niche game even get fully released?
Noah Robinson
I've no idea, I started playing it on the recommendation of some posters in a horror game thread here, gave up a few episodes in though. The potential is there but it really isn't used effectively at all.
Nicholas Harris
You made this thread yesterday Stop it
Christopher Green
it's an art
Uninronically.
Kayden Myers
The controls are simple, but the way they teach it to you is just terrible. They also try to teach you the controls while jumping between a bunch of different characters while trying to escort them. This is the worst opening to any game I have ever played and I was constantly confused as to what the fuck was even happening.
Why when you die does it have the weird crosshair effect on your eyes? Why do I have to open a menu for literally ever single action? Why is each level tiny as fuck?
This game has some serious potential and could've been a cult classic if it just took a more normal exploratory direction with its gameplay. The atmosphere and sneaking mechanics could have played nicely with it. But it felt more like a weird experimental indie game on the Dreamcast.
One of the weirdest games I have ever played for many reasons. I never hear anyone talk about either. Which is odd because it was developed by team silent when they were still together.
Nicholas Thomas
I did, and it got no responses. I want to talk about this game that no one talks about. What's wrong with that?
Ryan Reed
maybe no one talks about it cause it's shit. but not shit enough to be enjoyable
Jordan Bailey
>and could've been a cult classic It is.
I mean, there is videogames audience besides casual cattle you are part of. For you, it is Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
True gentleman appreciate Siren series.
Don't fight it, just stick with simple stuff.
Leo Miller
I absolutely love this game OP, but it's so weird that casuals hate it and Sup Forums never got into it. It is a cult classic for sure though.
Did you even play Forbidden Siren 2 OP?
Connor White
care to explain what's so good about it that we humble plebs are missing?
Julian Harris
Does it get better? I do want to stick with it, it's just the first hour of the game is a complete mess of gameplay and story introduction.
I have not, what changed in the sequel?
Nolan Powell
Try to explain tier3 quantum mechanics that is still deeply theoretical to soccer mom
Brody Gutierrez
>Does it get better? I recommend to try Siren 2 first, it might get you accustomed to Siren idea
Cameron Phillips
it's wave collisions that mimic particles, particles were ALWAYS the illusion bitch.
Owen Parker
I've just realised the game I was thinking of was Siren: Blood Curse. How is that game compared to this one?
Nicholas Martinez
Alright I'll give it a shot. Is it a different set of characters in the second? I don't wanna get more confused about the story than I already am.
Wyatt Hughes
I think there are some from Siren 1.
Also, don't be afraid to read some wiki stuff and articles/literature related to it.
Kevin Howard
2 is a little easier than 1. Introduced a light vs dark mechanics, there are 2 rivaling groups of shibito this time (one isn't called Shibito though IIRC) and there are more guns in the sequel, but it's still a very good game.
I'd say 2 fixed a lot of flaws of the original, but was also slightly too actiony since one of the MC's is literally a Japanese army soldier. On the other hand if anyone here loves guns, Forbidden Siren 2 is one of the only games in existence than features modern Japanese military weapons as they are notoriously hard to get access to in order to put them in video games. The main Jap private has modern Jap army weapons while his sergeant has cold war era Jap weapons which are also rare. There are other characters in the game too that don't have any weapons but the soldier missions are a bit action heavy.
Carson Moore
So is this a stealth/horror game?
It looks pretty good.
Elijah Bailey
i only played blood curse, it was cool, the atmosphere is good, but the gameplay was meh
Luke Russell
Nothing far fetched about giving quantum mechanics explanations to a soccer mum if she asks for them. Go for it, user.
Mason Adams
Blood Curse is just terrible compared to original, but the art and graphics are great.
Ayden Cox
I don't understand why people have such a hard time with Siren1/2, they're great stealth/horror games.
Matthew Powell
one of my favorite survival horrors of all time senpai, shame it'll never come back since sony dropped the ball hard with it on the ps3
this and fatal frame are genuine goat series that have been all kinds of fucked up by their respective publishers
Juan Garcia
2 has different characters to 1, and is a bit more forgiving and easy. But playing 2 first, it might be harder to go back to the original.
Maybe start with the remake, Blood Curse, then play 1 then 2.
Austin Hernandez
I don't remember exactly, but it's funny that the first or just the second mission is one of the hardest in the whole game.
Camden Collins
it's pretty much exactly like you said. Never quite got into these. S1 is plagued by terrible Eng-dub & controls, and the TV series style is just distracting. The 3rd game's a total joke. FYI, the director of SH1 did make Siren too.
Christopher Wood
That's an odd choice for a traditional horror jap game. Would you recommend Blood Curse first?
Xavier Jenkins
Blood Curse is borderline garbo so no
Hunter Young
I haven't played Blood Curse.
Just play 1 then 2.
If you want to play BC first since you are worried about the PS2 games being too hard, then do it to acclimatize yourself. But the main difficultly is basically figuring out what you gotta do to progress, it's better to just use a guide for that.
In a way it's kinda a puzzle stealth horror game as you have to figure out all this timeline stuff about how to distract enemies to get past to do all this list of things that is lucas arts adventure game tier crazy.
Blake Bell
>Siren 1 >TV series style
???
Cameron Hughes
probably stuck on the use of "episodes" throughout the game, brainlet probably associates that word with television and only television lmao
