Is Kickstarter doomed?

idk how you can fuck up a rhythm game. I doubt it's gonna get funded. Screen cap this pls

I'm fairly confident it can make its goal, but I'm less optimistic about hitting any of the stretch goals. Maybe if after re-shuffling the stretch goals, a Switch port comes in at less than 2mil that might give it more momentum.

If someone wants it to succeed all they need to do is start a fake shit storm over have "Make Rhythm-Action Great Again" at the top of the kickstarter being a pro trump message in disguise. Make idiots fight over it on twitter and many people will throw their money at it "out of principal".

It's only gone up by about 10,000 in the last day and most successful kickstarters are funded in the first few days.

Most Kickstarters make the largest part of their goal during the first day or the last few days. This one hasn't made near enough in it's first few days.

Making it some weird ass historical Japanese setting was probably a mistake. A lot of eople outside of Japan will dismiss it just because of that.

When will the Kickstarter meme die?

The age of
>Hey it's me, game creator who hasn't done anything in a while but in the past made a thing that a lot of people love. Please give money now

getting whatever they want is over.

>855000 quid
Fucking lol

It probably won't make the amount it wants, due to asking realistic amounts of money, while also aiming for a very niche market.

It would benefit from a demo of some sorts, which I think should be the standard now for kickstarter games asking for x amount of funding, since most of the time it is cheap indie games or devs testing the water to outside investors looking at reception.

>I have no concept of how much it costs to make a game
Fucking lol underage

After Mighty No. 9, Shantae and Yooka Laylee I would not trust Kickstarter ever again

>gitaroo man
Yeah sure
>parappa
No.

So it's gonna be half a decent game. Like every kickstarter.

>Shantae

Did it not end up good? didn't hear much about this one.

people realized shantae games arent so great to begin with

>Shit character designs
>Shit setting
>No real gameplay to show

>edo japan
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
THIS
IS
SO
FUCKING
INCREDIBLY
O R I G I N A L
AND APPEALING TO NON JAPANFAGS
like holy shit wow literally never seen before setting before!!!!!!!!!!

Pirate's Curse is literally the only good Shantae game

It's obviously rushed and the DLC such as playable Risky is stuck in Wayforward "SOON" release status.

It should have been called Shantae: Half Finished Game.

>Inspired by "Epic Rap Battles of History".
It deserves to fail.

It's an unfinished mess of shitty design decisions.
It's fucking terrible.

Beats idol """""""culture""""""" desu

>Rap Rabbit
>not Beat Bunny
>or Hip Hop Hare
Dropped.

Looks like they rightfully got a bunch of shit for asking for 5 million to get a Switch port and one difficulty setting being higher than the Xbone port.

And here are the original stretch goals.

Must be way easier to port to Xbone. Not to mention nothing 3rd party sells at all on Nintendo.

Why are they even doing an Xbone port?
Nobody who owns only an xbone would buy this.

>backer exclusive level
but why

>backer-exclusive shit two goals in

Nah it was OK, that's absolute best I'll say about it but didn't really grab me. I had hope after pirate's curse they'd make another decent game but nope. The best thing about the series is the girls/porn anyways

Of course it'll make it. It'll get to around 600k with five days left, and then they'll start getting the "Anonymous" donations of 20k and 30k until they're pushed just over the line. It's almost like they already have the money to make the game and are just taking more money off of retards because Sony only gave them a video on Youtube.

>backer-only costume
Why is that a stretch goal? That should be an incentive for donation tiers.

Should focus on more content over porting it to dead consoles.

>Shortest game yet
>A ton of odd choices in stage design, with powers that become redundant just shortly after obtaining them
>No balance to speak of, retarded combo's of equipment and dances combined.
>No difficulty to speak of even if you don't cheese your way around. Stuff does almost no damage to speak of to be a threat, and you quickly become a rapid killing machine.
>Only thing left is the Animations and Voice acting, with one being tween animation that just ends up janky half the time, and somehow worse then the pixel stuff then before at the best, while the VA is phoned in for what few lines said and just are annoying to hear all together.
It was depressing that this was a fan funded game and it was the worse one yet.

>A Million for 6 fucking levels

They can fuck off.

this desu

>short
>too easy
>crappy backtracking
besides visuals its much worse than pirates curse and the original game.

its not too bad if they use unreal engine. Heard switch ports shouldnt be bad for unreal engine either now, but I wont know for sure until I get a dev kit

He already made his best game as nothing will have a voice synth rapping like this ever again youtube.com/watch?v=31gl7QrIB1w
Just emulate it and I'm sure it'll be better then whatever the fuck this Rap Rabbit's is.

>protectionism is bad story
>supposed to be very japanese
wouldn't have backed it anyway but God damn how much of a basic fuckup can you make

>500,000 for localization in 5 languages

What a fucking scam! Fuck Kikestarter!

>Backer-Only shit

Goodbye

I prefer Jazz Rabbit.

You mean jazz jackrabbit? Those games were pretty cool, shame about the unfinished 3rd game though

But third parties are selling great on the Switch.

If you can't find funding for your game with publishers it's probably shit

Really makes you think

It's even worse
>Hey it's me, game creator who made this thing in the past and then made like 20 fucking terrible games that you probably don't even know because they were shit or didn't come out of japan (because they were shit). Please give money now, this game will be like the one I made in the past, not like those 20 failures.

>Tamagotchi
Ouch.

I am not defending this kickstarter shitfest. But those games are unironically fun.

Scary stuff.

Vib-Ribbon is the shit.

I remember pointing that sort of stuff out for pic related.

Just want to say everything after Mojib-Ribbon is ether Passable or bad outright. Vib-Ripple was a cute idea, but beyond it being some tech wank, it's a very bare bones game. The Tamagotchi games are all just Warioware minigames with Tamagotchi's, but at worse quality. Musika was just shit. Major Minor's Majestic March was a musical waggle game, you can guess how little of a good game this made. I only know about Haunt in passing, but it's apparently shit as well.

i can understand call of duty or fallout or another triple a game made by a huge studio needing a lot of cash

but how does an indie game need £855k ?

Voice Acting.
Really this game is just going to be a voice actor wank, but chances are without the camp that made the Parappa Series so enduring.

>kickstarting a console exclusive

who does this?

I don't think it'll succeed. Kickstarter delivered too many lackluster results by now for people to get really hyped and continue to throw their cash away.

shantae was never good, it's just waifufags overhyping anything that gives them a boner as usual.

All of his musical games were excellent, so I don't see the point of posting this list.

>but I'm less optimistic about hitting any of the stretch goals

They'll just pull an Inafune and open up post kickstarter donations.

>They updated stretch goals to prioritize Switch version

Yesssss

I doo

Neither do the chucklefucks running kickstarters apparently.

Remember Tim Schafer wanting more money because he blew through the 3.3 mil?

>idk how you can fuck up a rhythm game.

by making the timing for inputs have nothing to do with the music you're hearing. which is what parappa is.

Very mediocre but so was every previous Shantae game. You can really see the limited budget show through, though. The amount of pointless backtracking was considerable. They also made it BRAINDEAD easy and that was a huge flaw.

Charming and playable, but not really worthy of a recommendation.

>It's only gone up by about 10,000 in the last day and most successful kickstarters are funded in the first few days.
Don't worry. Just like Indivisible, if it looks like it won't make the goal, they will "force it" to get funded via lots of cross-promotion, like adding Shovel Knight as a guest character, again...

How do you properly do stretch goals?

I gotta ponder: why the fuck do people ask for ports to specific consoles, instead of buying the console that has the goddamn games they wanna play? This is fucking retarded.

Parappa the rapper is not fun as well.
take out the music and u can truly see how shitty the game is.

>take out the music
>of a rhythm game
>it becomes garbage

Interesting conclusion there, user.

Such as? I honestly don't know. I only heard that Bomberman shipped (not sold) 500k but actually sales were apparently satisfying for Konami (not that it had high production costs in the first place)

PC port begging worked so PC fags continue to beg. Consolefags start begging too.

This might shock you, but no one functional wants to spend $300 on a game.

Disgaea 5 hasn't released yet stateside, but NISA mentioned they have over 110k preorders already.

That's why you buy a platform with a bazillion games you wanna play. You don't buy a Zelda machine and then start praying that you'll actually have something else to play on it.

OSU! isn't a fun game if you take out the music there as well.

And even when you do have music.

Bomberman. Puyo Puyo. Blaster Master. And Disgaea.
Are all doing very well at the very least. I don't know about other games but I have no real reason to assume they're terrible.

This. 5 game rule is pretty reliable

this.
i'm glad someone pointed that out.
u don't need half the budget of making a full game just to translate some words. even with voice acts (on cutscenes only)

>That's why you buy a platform with a bazillion games you wanna play.
No such thing today. You pick a few games and hope you don't regret it in the future.

but take out the music on o2jam and u can still how decent and tight the gameplay is.

or change the music in parappa the rapper, then you will see how shitty the game is.
you guys liked the music, and you thought u liked the game, but the fact is it's a horrible as fuck rhythm game.

Don't get me wrong but those are low budget production which don't need to sell much to make profit but I'd like know some numbers if they're available yet. As long as games make profit everything is fine. I'm just curious about the actual numbers.

I hope PPT sold well, I got it on PS4 and I don't own a Switch (yet).

Doubting unless a big company like Sony pitches in at one point.
Day 1 is the big one - websites shill it like they have and most people that have an interest donate, then funding trickles down from there where others slowly discover it any might donate.

Given it's reached only a tenth in a day and a half I can't see it getting funded without another company.

Reminds me of the Shenmue 3 kickstarter. How long did it take to get funded?

Less than a day
