How good is PS2 emulation on the original fatass model?

>emulation
It's real PS2 hardware inside it

Still not as good as an original PS2. There are quite a few games that have bugs/crashes.

Only the earliest NTSC models. Second gen was emulation then they completely scrapped it.

yes but how well does the fat model run PS2 ISOs?
I've heard the slim is the best, but still not perfect

American 60GB have real-deal Emotion Engine & PS2 GPU in it, so they run them NATIVELY, and perfectly.

The PAL version ditched E.E. completely, and replaced it with official emulation. It's a-OK quality, I'd say 70+ % compatibility. Some games don't start at all / freeze at beginning (Jak&Daxter, Fatal Frame 2), while some just have various, minor issues, such as graphical glitches (James' leg randomly disappearing in SH2, minor Alphamap shimmering in SH3, MGS3:S runs worse than on PS2 at times...)

I still have it tucked away in one of my rooms. It was better than the remasters for sure.

Thought about buying one. If i maintain it, it won't get ylod I guess.

What about the JAP model? Because that's what I have, a CHECHA12

>Still not as good as an original PS2
Hmm..

Is rewarding early adopters with extra features like backwards compatibility the best marketing decision sony has made?

AFAIK, Jap 60gb is the same as US 60gb, meaning full bw compatibility.

They paid for everything good with the PS3. Now they went full jew with paid online and $15 PS2 games + rentals.

60GB and 20GB model PS3 literally have the PS2's CPU and GPU inside, it's not even emulation at that point, it's the same hardware.

The 80GB and the European 60GB models of the PS3 had half of the PS2's chip inside, so it was a hybrid emulator. That's the one with like 80% consistent good emulation of the PS2.

How can you tell which is which? You can't unless you test it out or the original owner never swapped hard drives (which is insane). The only thing you're able to tell is that ONLY a fat Playstation 3 with 4 USBs slots in the front can play PS2 discs, it's sorta of a designer's footprint about the hardware.

Every model of the Playstation 3 can play PS1 games, physical or digital without problems. It's just not region free.

PC emulating PS2 has issues with animated cutscenes.
PS2 hardware is the original hardware.
PS3 20GB or 60GB is just a PS2 boxed inside.
PS3 80GB and European models are hybrid, which is still a B+ in emulation of PS2 games.
Every PS3 can play digital PS2 Classics.

>Every model of the Playstation 3 can play PS1 games, physical or digital without problems. It's just not region free.
wasn't it region free before 3.55?
i guess none of this matters once i put cfw on it

>emulation

there's a reason you paid for this noisy piece of shit

>emulation
that is the reason

PCSX2

Really good. The only issue is that the fat PS3's roar like a fucking jet engine, and if you use them for too long the thermal paste inside tends to evaporate and causes all the textures in games played on the system to go fucky.

did you really just say that you stupid little fucking kid? is that honestly what you think is happening or did you just say that to make me angry?

I'm gonna get it modded with that fan increasing 30%, will roar a shit ton more but probs worth it for an early model PS3 that's 10 years old

This
If you have a fat PS3 you should definitely open it up and replace the thermal paste. I did that a few months ago on mine from 2008 and it runs a lot better.

How come E3 Flashers are $70 yet the rates for sending your PS3 off to have someone solder and sort it out for you are all like half the price
