loved this game when it was active and still playing it sometimes

Yeah I log on just to kill Shiro sometimes, that bossfight was fun

It was my first MMO since it didn't have a subscription fee, but then I just went to play WoW anyway. Now I don't play any MMO. It's pretty nostalgic since I'd never played anything like it at the time, but I remember enjoying the freedom of WoW a lot more.

I loved the big explorable world. Honestly this game was the best for that, despite people saying "but it's not really an MMO!"

Going on a largely undirected quest to steal a skill from a monster in the middle of nowhere was the best. Nowadays MMOs breadcrumb and handhold until there's no joy left

Yeah, that fight was fun.

Sometimes I just clean some areas in the uw

fort aspenwood was ahead of its time lads. it was like a one sided MOBA

I really miss doing this. No MMO comes close to GW

Is the american channel still somewhat alive? I remember a few years ago i installed it again and it was still completely dead. But then i got the idea to check all channels and i found out the american channel was crowded as fuck in the bigger cities atleast. I had been europe before that and there was literally nobody.

FOR ASCALON

PRINCE RURIK!

>jeremy soule
>mfw he always delivers on the clarinet solos

muh dik

youtube.com/watch?v=RMvcglKzCgE

Guild Wars in the Factions era was all but perfect; everything good about GW got turned up to 11, aesthetics, music, mechanics, excellent PvE to play, fun scrub-tier PvP to git gud at, top-shelf GvG to observe while wishing I was good enough for it.
Fuck ANet for letting it die, and fuck the painted corpse with a cash shop inside that is GW2.

Luxon was the patrician's faction. This is not to be contested.

Kurzick all the way man.

>Luxon was the patrician's faction

luxons were the somali tier niggers who rode around pillaging

kurzicks were the ones with an actual culture they had cathedrals and gothic architecture

>Luxon

curious to know this as well

Don't listen to these disgusting Kurzick scum.
Luxon lifestyle was the way to go, chilling in the sun of the jade sea.

>Kurdick players

The American districts of Ascalon City and Lions Arch are usually packed
Same with Kamadan, Shing Jea, and maybe Kaineng

I seem to remember assassins being shit then again i just ran around as a ritualist spamming spirit turrets everywhere, but god guild wars expansions back then were great

As one connecting from Scandinavia the ping makes group playing really bad, but I still try to have some fun before the game is completely dead

>Scythe Assassins when NF came out

I swear, faggots these days. What part about "not to be contested" was hard to grasp? Literally the only thing better about the emofag 'zicks was the Warrior armours.

Luxon had the open spaces that were actually pleasant to explore, the live free or die ethos, turtles with motherfucking cannons, superior music and superior missions.

>spear assassins were even better

>GW2 is a complete shitfest but you feel compelled to play the story forward even though it's absolute garbage

They'll eventually be releasing a fucking Elona expansion, might not even be that far off, and I'm upset at myself because I know I WILL still buy it

Yap, can confirm that.
American districts are the only one, which are populated.

>The old unnerfed as/rt dagger spike fun pvp
Especially fun in AB killing players left and right in half a second

>AB

Oh these good old days.

My favorite PvP mode towards the end of my playing time was Fort Aspenwood. Sahem Jade Quarry NEVER took off.

Aspenwood was so fun

I thought about this game recently. And I was thinking about the final missions in prophecies, and how if you combined two different hunter spirits (Greater conflagration? and Winter?) it would make all physical damage into fire, and then all elemental damage into ice.

So everyone in your group would be doing 100% ice damage to all the titans, who take more from it.

And thinking about those packs of imps where you'd have to pre-prot a player and then have them run in to soak all the initial spike damage before everyone else could come in with the clean up.

What happened to interesting PvE in MMO's. When did shit get formulaic and boring. Getting to pick skills for missions and shit was the fucking best.

>Try to find old GW video
>All this GW2 garbage everywhere

>get home from work
>get comfy, put some music on
>have few minutes to kill before the world championship
>see a GW thread on Sup Forums
Fuck you, boys. I didnt plan on getting fucking mad today.

What is the best gw1 theme and why is it Overture from Eye of the North?

youtube.com/watch?v=ejafLR6jb0g

WoW. They launched at the same time but WoW formula became the more succesfull one.
GW wasn't a small game. It sold quite a bit, it lasted for years, and had a large playerbase, but even all that is completely insignificant next to World of Warcraft.
And if you copy someone you copy the biggest thing.

You did get GWAMM right? you did get 50/50 HoM right?

working on it most of my bots dont work anymore

Opinions this wrong should be illegal

youtube.com/watch?v=0vihVoxiqMg

I will never ever fucking understand this. You make a game that is pretty much the opposite of WoW. Its not as popular, but it is still a huge success and the formula worked for many years. And then 8 years later, when everybody is fucking thirsty as fuck for GW2, you make a fucking WoW copy. And its not even good as far as WoW clones go. And worse, you shit on everything that made your game good/popular for no fucking reason at all. There is literally no reason for what they did to Guild Battles.

>Still doesn't have them
>Actually trying to bot them and fails at it

If i were to go about buying this game how should I?
There's a fuckload of expansions. Do I just have to buy them all individually or is there some sort of battle chest?

Factions has some of my favorite zones in an mmo ever. Jade Sea comes to mind

>50/50 hom
of course
>gwamm
No because I needed like 2 more titles and didnt have the money or effort to farm up the party animal/sweet tooth ones.

battlechest is on steam it goes on sale sometimes I think

trilogy or GOTY edition?

Best you can do is get the "trilogy" Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall as one package, but you must get Eye of the North separately.
Steam has them. Might be you can't even buy directly from Arenanet/NCSoft

good times. I loved this game

word, thanks.
Just bought it. Anyone wanna play?

>That Kaineng area design
Factions is fucking great

I agree with you except for Suxon

youtube.com/watch?v=1oFGagjD18o

Crystal Oasis is one of mt favorites, ariving at the desert after all the business on Kryta was a cool moment.
>you will never explore the world of GW1 for the first time again

Suxon my Kirdick

Someone make a fucking GW spiritual successor oh my god please , Sup Forums is popular enough that there is bound to be some dev reading this.

Will there ever be a game that gives the player as much freedom in shaping your character's role and gameplay style? Nothing beats combining skills and classes and finding clever synergies, NOTHING
I loved GW because of that even though I absolutely hate MMOs in general, as the force you to play a cookie cutter character you have zero influence on beyond fake choice like 3 specializations to choose from or some shit

>combining skills and classes and finding clever synergies
Secret World came close. It was also relatively difficult for an MMORPG from 2012. But the game's combat wasn't as good as GW because it was in the middle ground of old and new design sensibilities and it wasn't as expansive as GW.

>Kurdick can't even write properly
How cute

Step aside
youtube.com/watch?v=ejafLR6jb0g

Word.

Luxon had better armor designs for the classes I played and I liked the whole Jade Sea aesthetic, never cared about tree hugging goths.

How do you guys feel about this?

youtube.com/watch?v=ejafLR6jb0g

Aren't they releasing some kind of remake with revamped combat soon? The game always interested me but I never bought into it.

yep

secret world legends on june 26th

You should try it then. No idea how the combat will be but it hardly can be worse than what it used to be and that was passable.
They're "improving mission and story flow", but it essentially stays the same. Better, in fact. They're including all previously paid-for content for free and that shit was integral to the main story.
