Here's the cables I bought.
dunno why but ive never been able to get the optical out to work in anything
are you dumb? white goes in white red goes in red and yellow goes in yellow or Y
no shit, I wouldn't be here if that worked. thanks Cap'n obvious
If those are the only ports on that TV those cables won't work.
can you not read? do what I told you and it'll work
yellow goes in green if your TV supports composite
>not knowing what component video is
really? should I have gotten the non-S-Video kind? was told there were 2 kinds, s-video and another kind
You must be 18 or older to post here
I got yellow in green, with white and red in audio ports. nothin.
You need component cables or an older television that still supports composite input.
why did you buy an s-video gc cable if your tv doesn't have an s-video input
What is your IQ OP because you seem to be subhuman
Get a CRT TV and fuck off normalfag.
Used to have a similar TV when I was younger, I just kept popping the cables in and checking which spots worked
I'm 24, hence why I have a GC in the 1st place. The condescending remarks are unneeded, I'm well aware this is a simple question but it's giving me a hard time
>or an older television that still supports composite input
an upconverter would solve this
should have bought KMS cables instead so you could kill yourself with them retard
great job, OP
What's being 24 have to do with owning a gamecube?
now go to your TV's settings an make sure composite is enabled. if your Tv doesn't support composite, then you're fucked and need component or a composite -> HDMI/component
you sound like you're seconds from taking a shit and have no time to explain. fuck off I've been using chan for 10+ years, where the fuck else am I to come for help
>The condescending remarks are unneeded
no, they're pretty important
You were really 24 you'd have enough brains to figure this out.
thanks man I'll give it a shot.
Its called googling retard or having basic PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
or even A. popping the yellow cable into either the green or blue ports
Or B, opening the tv menu and enabling composite then popping the yellow cable into the ports till one works
Or C, googling your tv model number and fucking finding our if it supports copmposite
christ, this is basic stuff
i dont think it will connect.
the red and white cables are audio left and right.
yellow is video. you could just hook it up and turn it on them try the yellow in each of those other holes. doubt it though.
was not in the AV club sry will try again next life.
well its S-video and/or composite. which will work if his TV supports composite. you arent much smarter than OP
it's called being older than 7 lol
Whenever I see Charles Dera in a video from this decade I know it's going to be a disappointment
can you restate that in terms I can understand
Yellow goes in green, white in white, red in red. Those are shit quality s-video cables btw, don't even bother using the black part, your tv won't have a port. Turn the gamecube on and then choose composite video on your tv, viola.
>doesn't even know how to hook up a console
then why the fuck are you even here??? Like, holy shit fuck off back to r/pcmr already
well it was either come here and get directions from those who find these questions easy , or post on yahoo answers and wait for my dad to tell me red is red and yellow is yellow
thanks dads
component isn't backwards compatible, faggot.
youtube.com
You are a lost cause
I'll post some pictures
thank you, good man. The type of person I hoped would read this. unlike everyone else who shit themselves and had to quickly suck off cheeto finger dust in order to berate me
Give it back, Tyrone
is this a cathartic experience for you young virgin?
>I'm not stupid, everyone calling me stupid is stupid
good lookin out
>24
>Can't figure out how cables work on a tv
Sorry you're such a fucking retard dude. 15 seconds in Google would probably solve your answer anyways
what are you talking about?
you could have googled this shit you dumb fuck being 24 and not understanding how to solve simple problems means you have no fucking hope in life.
Ok OP, out a yellow in green and White and Red in the two audio ports at the top. Then go to your TV and flip through the channels until you come across the one showing your game.
If all that doesn't work, you'll have to go into your TV's settings and manually set it to component
next time you fuckers have a question about the trans-atlantic slave trade, don't come crying to me
These are the three cables you'll need
I think I'm good. So, did it even work?
yess
>Svideo AV cables to hook up to my Vizio
Yellow into green.
How does it feel to be plebeian?
Red into red
Is that even the backplate to a gamecube? wtf
Won't this give you a really fucked up image though?
White into white.
you should be able to solve this
Nevermind, I just noticed that the green Y input is labeled Y/V, so it should support both composite and component, my bad.
OP here, its plugged in what do i do now it doesn't turn on, can you take more pictures.
not so fast, I aint an engineer
Choose composite connection, for me it was called video 1
>he doesnt watch My Life In Gaming
Huh, how do i get that menu?
(OP)
> I have never in my life seen a cable for this output or speaker/amp system that accepts it
>it's somehow considered important enough that it's been added to virtually every piece of electronics that delivers A/V in some way for a decade
it depends. some Tvs have a shared component/composite.
Op is apparently too dumb to know
Viola.
um TOSLINK, sweetie...
Careful with turning it on without dusting it off. My power box exploded for being too dusty.
If you have your TV's remote, use that. If not, just manually go through the channels until you hit it
You do realize a set of GC component cables are north of $200
...
Imput button, here it is on my remote.
Yea but how do i use the remote? There are buttons on the tv? What
Wow. I figured this shit out when I was fucking 10, OP you're retarded
plug yellow into green.
>there are buttons on the Tv?
sweet lord almighty
It's for a TOSLINK cable, which is used for digital audio. Basically it's just a fancier version that supports stuff like Dolby's surround formats. Any non-antique A/V receiver will have it, but usually people just use HDMI now since it's less cables to worry about. I use it for my pc since the USB blew out on my cheap Chinese dac/amp.
Yep realized that literally as soon as I clicked post.
It provides pretty good audio, far beyond what the TV speakers provide, but I wouldn't consider the investment to be worth it.
Also, this. The video (yellow) cable goes into the Y/V (green) port. If that doesn't work and there's no separate composite port then you're screwed with that TV. Forget about buying Gamecube component cables unless you're willing the shell out an arm and a leg.
real OP here
switching to component didn't work, gonna try the channels
some of you guys depress me and I'm already depressed
it's antique reviewers that have it at this point, it's obsolete.
*antique receivers
It's composite, you get what you get, at least idon't have to explain anything like this to him though, lmao.
fuck off you ain't Op. get a life
>Forget about buying Gamecube component cables unless you're willing the shell out an arm and a leg.
What? Can't you just use any composite cables? It's not like it's the xbox that has a proprietary connector.
Upside down photo whoops. Phones are the worst on this site.
Yeah, I didn't realize it was shared composite/component
It's absolutely obsolete, but it's still included on any new receiver I've seen.
Never mind, I'm retarded. Thought OP's picture was of the gamecube not his tv.
>spend a trillion bux on a framemeister
>don't know how to use component cables
summer already
>Can't you just use any composite cables
>composite
He said component, and Gamecube uses proprietary component cables. My understanding is that they but the chip for digital encoding in the cable itself, so the only option is to reverse engineer the cable and make your own (which you could only sell blackmarket since it's proprietary).
This guy is allegedly 24 and cant google his tv number to see if and how it supports composite cables.
Its fucking high levels of stupid in here.
Lol that's me helping him, not the OP.
the fuck is a frame meister
sometimes I hate the fuck out of you nerds
summer already?
OP is why gaming has pic related
