EDDIE, LET ME GO BACK TO MY HOME
SH2 IS OVERRATED
SH3 is the real masterpiece
There was a good series here. It's gone now.
Fuckers
If silent hill takes place in the real world, where is all the people?
FUCK ALL OF YOU
Behind the millions of locked or "broken" doors you come across in game.
...
Circumcision
I don't understand if the town is supposed to abandoned or not
...
...
post silent hill characters that are literally you
i'll start
it's the only good SH game
...
I bet Heather got so scared in Silent Hill 3 that she peed herself haha I would totally sniff her soiled panties as a joke haha
nanomachines and stealth camo
Silent Hill clones.
Do they exist? Are they good? Why Konami is such a piece of shit? Can I buy a gyaru from the yakusa?
>Metal Gear and Silent Hill take place in the same universe
hahaha
Do you have any evidence to say they don't? Or that castlevania isn't in the same universe?
dont touch that dial now we're just getting started
>Big Boss was scared of vampires
>Vamp literally was a vampire
>the sorrow could bring back ghosts from the dead
>The Joy could ahegao at will
I recently watched Jacob's Ladder. I think it was pretty good. That train station scene at the beginning and the one where they take Jacob for an "X-ray" were 10/10. I wish most of the move kept that kind of atmosphere.
Are there any other similar movies?
did you notice the bergen st. sign in the metro station in the beginning?
so good.
Blue Velvet, Rosemary's Baby are 2 I would recommend.
Oh yeah, Twin Peaks if you haven't seen it already.
I've been wanting to use this forever, but never get the chance.
How did they make the look so good? Especially for 2001.
>Playing through SH3 again
>enter an area
>12 doors on the map
>8 have broken locks
>2 can't even be interacted with
>one is locked from the other side
>one opens up to another area with 12 doors
>play SH4
>enter hospital floor
>about 20 doors on the map
>each one works
>Do they exist?
yeah... sortta.
Forbidden Siren's a child of SH1's director, but not my cup of tea.
Afraid Of Monsters:DC & Cry Of Fear, both free HL mods, are top spooky.
reminds me of this
...
ded
>where is all the people?
They turned into those creatures that you keep hitting in head with your pipe.
Stop with the "Game quote abruptly cut off with game's name thread " shit. You're not clever, you're not original, you're incredibly cute, and you're certainly not doing the fanbase any favors spamming this shit on Sup Forums all the fucking time.
What? This is not my picture. This thread is getting spooky.
> you're incredibly cute
Thanks user.
Well I think you are cute too user.
I did, it was really cool how Silent hill 3 managed to create a similar atmosphere in the train station area.
Nice. I haven't watched any of those and am looking forward to it. Did they also influence the creation of silent hill?
Anyway, I'm glad I watched such a good movie because nowadays most "horror movies" are full of cheap overused jump scares.
Yes, they were big influences. If I had to pinpoint any 1 biggest influence it would be Lynch movies though.
Obligatory reminder that SH4 is shit and Eileen is the only redeeming part of it.
Like the ghosts weren't scary, they were just annoying for the most part. I liked the idea behind the swords of obedience though, that is a cool mechanics to stop enemies from spawning, but just no implemented well.
SH4 a shit.
To this day I seriously think they made a pact with some devil to create such a good looking game, especially when you consider the limitations of the ps2. SH3's facial expressions are 10/10
Why did he kill her?
Because she didn't want to be a burden, and he couldn't watch her suffer anymore.
What?
whats the name of the song that plays when you are moving through the resort as it decays after that scene?
That's it, thank you.
SH1 is the scariest of the series.
People love to mention that the fog in SH1 was to optimize the game for a short draw distance so the PS1 could handle it, but the same technique was used in SH2 and SH3 to optimize it for the PS2 as well.
That's why it looks so good.
I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
I've heard about that. I think it was clever of them to use fog to cover the ps1/ps2 limitations, but the facial expressions in sh3 are godtier. Just look at that Andromeda abomination and those lazy ass facial expressions.
Team silent was truly talented and dedicated.
The environments inside places look good too not just fog
The only horror games I've played before SH1 were RE2 and 3 and holy fuck was my brain fucked inside out with all the surreal shit happening in SH. I was expecting hollywood'y shit like in RE and got rusty, foggy fuck knows what with scary as fuck music/ambient and story that I didn't even understand at the time. What a ride that was.
Yeah and desu I don't even really remember any movies I saw at the time being anything like it either. It was truly original for me at that time. Most horror movies I would have seen at that point were slasher films.
I feel 3 is the scariest.
Somewhere else.
IDK user SH1 soundtrack is definitely spookier. And the sounds easily are up to half of why the games are so good. Just listen to this.
>play sh2 and barely get frightened the entire time
>barely got past the prologue in sh3 and i'm already scared of random noises
Am I just going to have to get used to this? I haven't touched the game in months.

KILLING A PERSON AIN'T NO BIG DEAL
i think the room had the most oppressive atmosphere
I was shitting brick all the time. It was very stressful playthrough but so enjoyable. Get used to it man, the game is pure terror if you dig the atmosphere.
i think the monster sound is more important than the music itself
it's makes new sounds scary
the radio parasite aren't really useful in 3 though since monster are so loud
But ya know what? It doesn't matter if your smart, dumb, ugly, pretty... it's all the same once yer dead.
And a corpse can't laugh.
>SH thread
>no SH PC Guide + DL links
lets fix that:

SH2 DDL:

SH2 torrent:

SH3 DDL:

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
If you use the NEW widescreen fixes mentioned in guide, the sh2proxy's EXE works as no-cd crack too.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.
You can now see fine emulator settings for SH1 in the guide. You may also try the newer PGXP emulator for wobble-free PS1 graphics.
I agree. It does look good, especially for 2001.
Indoors interiors are much easier to use culling techniques that the player will never notice.
...
>Want to play SH games but too pussy to do it
I mean shit, SH1 is the only game I completed and even then I make small progress at a time.
If this is how I react with SH1 with its blocky graphics, how much can I handle with SH2 and the rest?
SH2 isn't even scary. SH3 is intense and honestly, the monster design is much better than SH1's monster design, the fleshy creatures make the otherworld look like a genuine hell.
It's gonna be really hard for you. If you can't handle it in the night time try playing during day. You will still be scared just not to the point of dropping it.
Don't let Silent Hill die.
So was this fake or not?
...
The series stopped being scary when you realize if you can go full gun-ho for the rest of the game if you just melee enemy's for the first few hours.
I had enough resources to kill everything but it was scary as fuck anyway. Some people just easily scared.
SH2 isn't scary, is a depressive road trip to your own personal hell. It's one of the best games you will ever play in your life.
>SH2 isn't scary
but it is
>SH2 isn't scary
That's fucking subjective.
Sorry, SH4 is.
>and even then I make small progress at a time.
just like I did on my 1st playthrus all those years ago.
Embrace your immersion & tackle those horror classics!
The apartment entrance was deeply scary, i give you that. But as soon i found the pistol, the fear disappeared. The rest of the game was just an atmospheric ride, especially the prison-mine part, which was spectacular, they could've reduced the hole jumping stuff a little bit, then it would be perfect.
Did anyone else get SH4's bad ending on the first playthrough? I'm in no hurry to replay it for the good endings.
Aren't there like three layers? Reality, fog pseudo reality and hell. People stay in real world but can wander into the fog world I guess.
And no I don't care what the movies or any game after 4 says, but it's how I interpreted it.
Hardly, the atmosphere is still strong even when you do have an arsenal.
the part with the elevator was the scariest thing about SH2

>PARKING LOT!
...
nope, got "gOOD-''
>Play game, that only resembles a piece of meat on a wooden door
>See that image, it all clicks into place
God damn, i never noticed this before.
