Because some people find the system to be interesting & find some of the games to be worth it. Personally I want the system just for Super Mario Odyssey since that game looks amazing to me but overall the line-up is meh, I can understand both sides with one saying it looks good and the other saying it looks awful, it's a real mixed bag. Hopefully E3 brings a lot interesting to the table, I want me my Pikmin 4 and Metroid (although I doubt Metroid is happening).

I think because Wii U was a failure, Zelda finally released, and it's not some low res 3DS screen. And blind faith. As an idort I see no reason to get one.

It's weird. On here, people shilled the Wii U with every decent release (no clue why W101 is seen as a great game). And then the Switch comes out and the only justification I see for buying one is "I never owned a Wii U." And everyone who owned a Wii U won't admit that they bought the Switch as well because it makes them look like a fanboy. Which is moot because their favorite game is still Sm4sh

Being a specialized game device is enough of an advantage to grant some hope that Switch will become great in the long run.

Not really, all the worthwhile games so far are ports.

game's animations are locked to 30fps. I ran it at 60fps and it ran twice as fast.

It likely never will due to the programming being locked to it, and you can't use a dsfix style program to fix a game running under an emulation environment.

Whether or not the Wii U appealed to you didn't really matter because it's all subjective anyways, but Nintendo really fucked their own fanbase with it, even if some of the games on it were sleeper hits. The Switch is more or less the exact same thing as the Wii U but with much better marketing so the thinking is that this time Nintendo won't outright abandon the console because no one bought it because making a catch name is too hard.
