You know damn well they are perfectly aware of it and that this game is going to make fucking bank because of the OC feature.

Not that user, but the people who would be interested all hate it for a myriad of reasons, and the people who actually make sonic make money, parents buying shit for their kids, don't give a shit either way. It's gonna sell as well as any sonic game, which means it'll probably break 1 million, but be underwhelming compared to the last one. However, this will be an improvement considering the last one was boom which sold like crap because it was both on a ded console and because it was super bad.

I think Sonic Team realized that they can't please their entire fanbase with one game, so they made 2 to cater to different parts of their fanbase. Mania is going to sell like hotcakes to the oldschool fans who want more Genesis-like games, and Forces is going to sell like hotcakes to the DevaintArt crowd.

I doubt it. The CaC will probably be incredibly limited in what you can do, meaning turbospergs can't make their half-demon hedgefox or whatever. There's also the obvious plot twist where Buddy is related to whatever power Eggman seized, ruining the self-insertion.

Xenoverse is a clusterfuck of different ideas, characters and plot taken from a bunch of the more obtuse dbz games in Japan (most notably the MMO and the card battlers).

Xenoverse 2 is literally the same game with a new scenario, a few extra missions, and a hub. It's a 1.5 and not a true sequel but autists ate it up all the same.

From a marketing perspective it was a good idea to make a game catered to all the dbz autists who've been wanting to self insert themselves since the series inception. It was just executed poorly.

Sega are trying to replicate with Forces but I haven't been impressed with what I've seen so far.

They know their core audience and they made a game tailored for them.
From a business perspective it's the obvious choice.

People want a CaC that plays like Sonic. Instead they're getting a gadget wielding CaC that plays like a modern Tails. Autists will fall for it either way.
