Really? No one is going to comment this humdinger of a joke?
So the shitpost aside, I just started this game last night and holy shit, the atmosphere is already great.
>that music
I don't get it.
this game was fun at first but after about 4 days of playing its starting to feel quite repetitive and annoying at times.
Still better than most FPS games I've played recently however.
The game's pretty good.
Will not ruin anything but the ending and tweest is a bit of a let down.
Would play next Arkane game though.
>Sup Forums actually thought this game was going to be bad
>gameplay trailer comes out
>hurr powers look boring
>hurr looks like a Doom ripoff
Naysayers BTFO
8 hours in and I'm still praying for the game to start being fun.
I never thought that anyone would be able to top bioshock infinite for bland, repetitive combat, but this seriously takes the cake.
>the first 95% of the game is fantastic
>the missions with Dahl and Kaspar throw hordes of infinitely respawning operators at you
Was the lead gameplay designer on leave that day?
sometimes you put in sections that are sub-par to make the rest of the game seem better by comparison
seriously
Samefag
It's total trash compared to the bioshock, dishonored and deus-ex series. I can't imagine how anyone could think that this game is acceptable compared to what came before, particularly given that Arkane used to know what the fuck they were doing with games like Arx Fatalis and Dishonored.
I really like it.
Its the survivor horror game I needed after being disappointed with RE7
Imo they must have ran out of time and just quickly filled in the final couple of quests.
That said i had around 26 EMP grenades and disruptor batteries saved up since theirs barely any electronic enemies until the end of the game so it wasn't so bad.
The pacing is great as well as the atmosphere until you get to Dahl and that it just feels like reading a book where as the story starts to hit it's stride and it ends with and then he defeated the bad guy and everything was alright again the end.
Played for 3 hours and und uninstalled.
all you fucking do is read emails :/ fucking boring as fuck
As a side note they should make your minimum combat abilities more effective and the later game abilities slightly weaker in order to not feel ridiculously gimped early on and ridiculously overpowered later.
It's a nice feeling mowing down phantoms and nightmares that would have wrecked your shit some hours ago but completely trivialises the difficulty and tense atmosphere after the halfway mark. The Nightmare phantom could have been much better executed with a smaller more hunter-esque creature that can stalk through the corridors and fuck your shit up similar to the Alien in isolation.
it is for few hours and after you leave station in your space suit all magic is gone, from this point i got bored to death and i have trouble to finish the game
also 10 quests at once LMAO so i have no clue where the fuck i'm supposed to go
>not loving games that have readable material to discover more about the world/environment/characters
Fuck you
>hordes of infinitely respawning operators
Place large objects in front of their operator stations to stop them from spawning.
this is a tasty bait
best part of the game
>that bass
hey that ain't bad
Scenes like this one and others were really fucking with me.
I'd been occasionally thinking up this sequel to System Shock to pass time, and what parts/set-pieces it would have and Prey ticked of a ridiculously high number of them. Including the 'Fight off enemies in a disco/club while a catchy techno soundtrack plays'.
Does taking Typhon mods affect the story/ending of the game in any way, or does it just make turrets hostile?
I wish the station had been a lot longer, with the G.U.T.S. being bigger and more elaborate. You only end up going through there once or twice before unlocking the upper airlocks, so there's no reason to go back.
Changes some dialogue afaik, but it shouldn't make you get a bad ending.
I feel like the issue with G.U.T.S and the spacewalk segments is that you can just boost your way past any enemies and there's no real sense of conflict. It is hella fun to navigate in zero G though, I won't deny that
How many emails do you have to read to get there? Also what happens there?
Judging from what I've seen from the game, you have to read an email there.
Do you get a cheevo at least?
You get one for doing one playthrough with only Human mods and one with only Typhon. You probably have to buy at least one to get it, so doing both by picking none probably won't work.
You get a different achievement for no neuromods though.
*another one (need to do 2 playthroughs for Split Affinity)
>set up for a sequel it will never get
Good, I love showing them online that I did.
Where the fuck does the """chef""" go after you escape the freezer?
That Danielle chick will send an email to your office telling you where he is at some point.
Bridge escape pods
Wait a bit and then check your email. She will tell you his volunteer number, allowing you to track him through the security station in the volunteer quarters (power switch is in a vent above the bathrooms).
Wouldn't you like to know, M. Yu?
Well, they did give Dishonored a good/decent sequel, so there's still hope.
We probably won't be playing as the Typhon thinking it's human, though.
seriously every single enemy besides operators and technopaths in the game can be super trivialized by
>psychoshock
>kinetic blast
>finish off with shotgun blast or q beam
as for technopath just psychoshock to remove his abilities then spam disruptor
psychoshock is just ridiculous honestly because nullwaves are so rare but psychoshock is only 25 psi AND does a good amount of damage.
>Dishonored is now considered good
What the fuck happened?
>It's total trash compared to the bioshock, dishonored
How is it not?
>operators and technopaths
Elecrostatic Blast
>jump scare noise intensifies
oh you are right, I slept on that ability because I didn't expect to see much techno enemies at all, also superthermal seems to do more damage than kinetic but you unlock it much later
The first two require that spend points in Typhon neuromods. Try running with a self-imposed challenge if the game is too easy (no mods, no security weapons etc.).
le reading email game
>he installed typhon mods
You can toggle them off tho.
>get to the ending
>it installed so many typhon mods, it surely wants to go back to it's roots
>only installed mimickry
OK
Also I kinda saw it coming from the first flashback on. Meh. I think it's also double Meh because that entire end sequence was pretty shitty and basically consisted of me running through everything. I get that you can't just throw boss fights in people's faces if they want to go with a play like you want it approach but fuck, this was boring as shit.
7/10, I wish the game was either more linear or had a stronger story. Gunplay was ok, off in a way I can't describe, besides the input lag.
>he played an fps on a console
bioshock is shit though...
>survival horror
wot
>Yfw
>Most overpowered perk in the game isnt even a Typhon ability
Stop fucking adding slowmo to games it's always bullshit and OP
For whatever reason nothing in this game spooked me.
>Find the Fatal Fortress meetup in the Rec Center.
>See the world map and then the console it's hooked up to and think "Oh that's rad as fuck, I thought it was just pen and paper."
>Notice the world map looks kind of familiar.
>mfw five seconds later.
I literally never even completed the game, but I could recognize that shit almost instantly.
So this...is the power...of the ps4 pro...
>also 10 quests at once LMAO so i have no clue where the fuck i'm supposed to go
>Can't toggle quests off
>Can't see the huge as fuck "main story" category under the "Objective" tab.
Moron.
>those ability icons on the character sheets
>that text font
It's happening, isn't it?
It's not an email. It's a club and you can set the computer nearby to replay a musical performance some crew member gave.
>mfw the nightmare is hunting you
Christ, I was not expecting that shit. I was just going off on a sidequest. I hid in a vent like a bitch, I already had enough trouble with the tecnopaths and telepaths. I assume it comes out again later.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Prey. I got it for free due to Steam share, and I've been liking it more and more as I continue playing.
>I assume it comes out again later.
ye
Do you have something against the idea of turning into a coffee cup, teleporting around, or causing explosions with your brain? I don't know about you, I found all that fun as HECK
Whenever you're doing something repetitive and scripted you know they're gonna bust that shit, I called it a mile off.
Still jumped though
It was all fun and games until i got bored out of my skull.
I don't know if the lack of enemy variety or weaponry or what but i'm having trouble picking it up again.
I'm in the reactor parts, must be near the end.
How long would you estimate i have to go still ?
Really want to drop it
I hope so.
Remaster, sequel or spiritual successor, I don't even care.
I like how I went in completely blind, I didn't know those existed. So far I haven't installed a typhoon mod, but I saw that there's one to remove mind control. I left some guy that was mind controlled in a cell alive and I want to free him. I'll try to throw some null waves grenades first, if not I'll have to become infected by filthy xeno garbage cells.
As long as the magic system isn't as finicky.
Stungun and nullwave work fine
Nightmare is easier than *paths.
I want nu/v/ to leave
I'm finding the game interesting, certain mechanics are concepts pretty cool.
I like the Mimic enemy type, but every other enemy is pretty lame, they are trying to be spooky scary but they aren't actually that interesting. All the creepiness is purely the disjointed music.
Prey is a decent game, but it really just makes me wish for another Dead Space.
so in the looking glass guy's office there's an email requesting a coffee cup of a specific weight, and a switch that would be triggered by that specific weight
so i went around his office, none of the coffee cups did anything
does it pay off somewhere else?
i am making a point to read emails and i don't see much aside from the game auto-logging keypad codes
Why do they call it the Xbox 360?
>get to the Technopath fight near the Power Plant entrance
>have maxed Mobility and plenty of ammo
>clear out the small rooms on the right and left to make sure I have room to maneuver
>kill the Voltaic Phantoms
>spend the entire fight jumping around the rafters at hyper speed
>sliding under the thing and hitting it point blank with the Margrave
>slapping Recycler Charges on the girders beside it and getting away before they can detonate
For fuck's sake, this game has some really ludo moments.
>also 10 quests at once LMAO so i have no clue where the fuck i'm supposed to go
this is the target audience for most people
DISGUSTING
The cup is in other place, watch the videos in that room and you'll see.
>hating System Shock 3
Talk about nu/v/.
>later on in game
>find audio log with Morgan
>he introduces us to October, another robot with his personality
Who the fuck was October??
Anyone tried the magic that let's you spawn minions from dead bodies?
Sounds cool on paper but haven't seen it in action yet.
>his
Cancerous retards are the reason modern games are hallways in terms of level design.
Literally too dumb to breathe.
It's bretty fun I guess but I just outgrew this type of game.
Prototype for later versions.
was december even real or was he just something alex coded into the sim?
It just spawns a Phantom to follow you. Better version spawns elemental Phantoms. They mostly die in mirror fights with other Phantoms.
So since the game warns you not to install the Typhon Neuromods, I assume it has a direct impact on the ending?
Also, when you complete "Who is December" and get your ending, the screen that pops up looks a lot like the one at the end of the game. The IGN Easter Egg page says to compare it to the end of the game, but it doesn't fucking say why or what the connection is.
The cool part is that the phantom has the name of the human you used it on.
Nope, just a dialogue line at the end.
The only difference is that turrets shoot at you and nightmares start spawning regularly.
>everyone talking how this is an immersive sim
>watch gameplay and webms
>PRESS E TO USE every time the player gets close to stuff
Swing and miss Arkane
>not knowing what an immersive sim is
I feel fucking ripped off for
>buying
this game
>Sup Forums actually thought this game was going to be bad
But it is. I couldn't stand playing this shit for more than 30minutes. It's a fucking FPS where nothing happens and then furniture attacks you, you kill it and then it goes back to nothing happening.
Well, it ends with "It's not the one. Start again," just like in the bad ending.
