Realising enemies respawn in System Shock 2

Yeah fuck those exploding robots.

Pain is scary.

Oh fuck, System Shock 2 scared me when I first played it.
>Cargo section where you go through a maze of crates and exploding robots. Then do it again.
>Those Robot-Human hybrid nurses with those chewed off faces. The ghost vision and the doctor's tapes only made it worse.
>Super arachnophobic, so spiders were the worst for me. Hell, the spider trap made me pause the game once it happened.

I don't understand why people pretend to be scared by Literally Nothing Happens: The Game.

lol these stolen motifs from Eraserhead

are you saying kojimas a hack?

>stolen
>every callback to film, books, and songs that doesn't have a disclaimer slapped on it is stolen

When my father stepped in

Nothing will ever top sinistar

And? Nothing happened. Does the shaky person ever actually do anything? Is there anything Michael J Fox can do that can cause a game over or anything? No? Okay then.

What is this?

HELLO MY BABY HELLO MY HONEY

Window breaking and hands trying to grab u in RE2

Fuck that guy

youtube.com/watch?v=p8KHPSFbwus

the mission in Halo:CE where you get introduced to the flood was probably the most scared i've been playing a video game

doom 3 was pretty spooky too

>He's very gentle
>but, ya'know... be careful, he might eat you

...

People say the hotel or grouts mansion is scarier but this part always fucks my shit up hard

This level was so good they wrote articles about it.

It could have been its own game.

...

Straight up spooped me

Once she's made contact with you, making any sharp movements will cause her to snap your neck.

You basically have to calmly finish the segment without turning around or jerking the camera.

It's not difficult, but that never was the point of a horror game.

Morrowind six house bases still scare me to this day.
Also pic related faggots are pretty scary in the dark.

I think we all know the true answer.

It'd be a tie between most of Alien Isolation and pic related, that keyhole scare was just cheating

And on top of it the part when you're in that corridor with cells full of those fucking monsters and the doors open...

I think the worst offender is don't look behind you.

I wonder if they purposedly tried to mimick the uncanny feeling from the ending of Monkey Island 2. Both games end in a certaon not-bad-ending-but-not-really-happy-either way that left me with a weird feeling when I was a kid.

Anything related to deep water in video games

-Subnautica. All of it.
-The sharks and the deep trench in Far Cry 3
-Nessie in Wizardry 8
-Dreugh in Morrowind
-Being anywhere near or in the sea in GTA

Fuck all of it.

Made me drop the controller.

>He didn't wear the secret shoes

The invisible monster in Amnesia TDD, the one that chases you in the catacombs or o whatever
My first playthrough of Clocktower when I was 10
Every fucking jump scare in Dead Space 3

DANGER DANGER
DEATH THE CRISIS
DANGEROUS ZOMBIE

The archaic sound makes it a lot more creepy than it should be. This is otherwise underwhelming.

>When you get so far out in Subnautica and it's just pitch black forever.

I don't think i've ever felt more uneasy than that in a game.

The music, the text, the images.
I don't think there has ever been a harsher game over.

Shit that stuff bothers me IRL too. Can swim in swimming pools just fine but afraid of deep water. I'm not getting a panic attack but I feel uneasy and scared.

>ITT people act like horror games are the scariest when the actual scariest things in life are ideas and unexpected despair which most horror games fail to do.

Light hearted games with a horrifying part > horror games

>>Super arachnophobic, so spiders were the worst for me. Hell, the spider trap made me pause the game once it happened.
i had to pause on that also and i am not arachnophobic

>playing through REremake
>heart slamming into my throat every time I pass through this hallway
>must've passed through 5 times, nothing happens
>learned the event only triggers if you enter the room from the opposite side
>only ever take the broken door exit in the adjacent room to return to the Main Hall

Well that's disappointing.

only real RE fans will know why this is scary

The morgue in Singularity. I did not sign up for that shit.

I never found it that scary, I was fast enough to just avoid them easily.

It's too late, I'm already succumbing to the void.

This one actually makes me laugh because it looks like a glitch.

...

...

>walk backwards slowly
NOPE

Nightmare House was ripping off Condemned with this scene, but the end with the SWAT behind the glass was pretty good.

scariest? prolly that one body dropping infront of me in that game where you're a reporter going to some mental institute.
most uncomfortable would be that crazy house in vtmb

Fucking Waxworks, man.

Harsh ass point n click.

Don't forget the 7th Colossus.

Parasite Eve's final boss's chase sequence.

That mannequin thing is so common in games now.

>the first time I played through that section I didn't realize they had weak points if you used the thermal scope
>blow all of my ammo just getting through a few of them
>mfw only knife for the last one

youtube.com/watch?v=DQ_59RBkZbM

I wish I didn't know this feeling.

>grew up playing horror games like SH and Resident Evil in my room alone late night for maximum spooks and rarely get fazed
>for some unknown reason I actually freak out when I go in dark deep waters in a game

I never got that shark achievement on GTAV, or played Subnautica for more than an hour.
I can go swim at the beach in real life no problem though. Unless the water is deep and dark as fuck.
It confuses me cuz literally nothing else freaks me out at that level.

...

i used to much ammo on this guy because i didnt know about the lens

CLANG CLANG CLANG

I was playing Gta IV and I was at the beach walking around in almost total silence and suddenly a fucking car comes from nowhere and explodes right next to me, the driver jumped from the cliff or something. I don't think I've ever being so scared in a videogame kek

Scared, or startled? There actually is a difference. Jump scares are not actual scares.

>when you hear the footsteps getting faster

>I-It can fly,
>youtube.com/watch?v=mWPTWahp-HA

...

youtube.com/watch?v=xsWfR1maSpQ
>all I wanted was a rotom, man

that music

Seriously what was he doing in there?

Nothing happens to you anyway. It's a video game. You're not getting hurt.

Seriously?

may have been betraying sadler, like the merchant, and got caught

>playing through the game the second time around with a fully upgraded broken butterfly
>wreck these guys in 2 shots

You may laugh at me but a very memorable recent moment was in SOMA when you find a woman scan copied into a damaged robot that is lying at the bottom of the ocean and she asks you if this is the Ark. Another one is the diving suit scene where Simon asks Catherine if there is something wrong and if she can run a diagnosis, that fucked me up a bit with the realization what's going to happen to you later.

Otherwise I am really scared when I am underwater or in space and my oxygen is running low so much it can fuck my controls, or in older games (like Resident Evil 3 or Parasite Eve) when I am dying and remember I haven't saved for a while. When I started playing Dota 2 I was startled every time Zeus used his ulti (it's a sudden lighting bolt on everyone accompanied with a loud crackle).

Yeah, pic related messed me up for awhile. I know it's cheesy, but that fucking heartbeat when it gets close.

>enter a room
>sudden close noise of something crashing
>never get followed up by anything

This whole sequence at the bottom of the trench was so fucking good.

I just sat there watching the credits roll and didn't want to go to bed anymore.

What the fuck man.
