The RTS genre was pretty much dead when it released. They tried dumbing down the gameplay from the first so it would be accessible for more people but it backfired horribly.

>Smaller scale
>Dumbing down the options you had
>No tiers
>Experimentals essentially build in factories
>Trying to make it more accessible

Not that it's bad, but only as it's own RTS. Yet it is a blight on the SupCom franchise.

My thoughts exactly, user.

And don't get me started on the plot...

On the other hand I liked the research part of the game, as well as the fact that you could beef up the ACU with some serious power and turn it into a literal one-bot-army.

Pity the rest didn't live up at all.

I really wish there was another SupCom that instead being a sequel to SupCom 2 it retcons the latter and makes the scale of SupCom FA EVEN BIGGER.

Planetary Annihilation wasn't also good at all. The expansion actually fixed everything, but it was WAAAY TOO LATE and the damage was done.

did revamp ever come out

>The expansion actually fixed everything

It didn't fix the bland, soulless units. I even remember the tier 1 cute tanks in FA even tho I haven't played the game in 5 years.

>SupCom has a unique formula in the market
>Loved by everyone
>Critics appraise it
>Fuck it up completely in the sequel

>not playing FA Forever
what are you doing user

I love the units added by mods, especially blackops. Can't ever go back to vanilla MP after that.

Still nothing beats TA's PeeWee.

MOTHER. FUCKING. PEEWEE.

they got rid of everything unique about supcom and made starcraft with no unit caps

>post yfw when you were trying to learn the game and the AI sent you a CZAR

>You just got to T2 and this guy slaps your commanders ass what do

>not posting the mavor

STRATEGIC LAUNCH DETECTED

My mistake i forgot about it. Reinstalling supcom2 as we speak though

Don't. Supcom 2 forgot the most crucial part of a RTS game design.

Bigger is always better.

Which SupCom do you recommend for a noob?

>mexes upgrade manually
>stupid research
>buiding units/structures uses instant resources instead of steady draw
>no tiering

garbage

Even more painful if it's a Seraphim Experimental Nuke.

But then again if you let the enemy Seraphim build it, then you deserve the pain.

Go straight for FA.

Supcom is 10 years old

One time I disagree with the hive mind.
The campaign sucked, which is a shame since I'm an RTS SP fag, but multiplayer was much better polished. Being able to stick to roughly the same unit and just constantly upgrade and customize it is better than to forget obsolete units. For MP the game is just better than the first.

Google FA Forever

Even comes with improved AI. Community is pretty friendly to noobs/baddies like us.

>hating TA2
Eat shit fag

SupCom2 is nothing like TA or SupCom1, KYS

The previous game I playred RTS was generals and superweapons in that were weak sauce.

Didn't expect the nuke to have a tsar bomba radius completely shitting on my base, was even more furious when I learned I could build an anti nuke.

bonus story: I thought of the commander as a beginner building unit and losing it inside my base wasn't a big deal. Guess what happened next.

>t is better than to forget obsolete units
There were no obsolete units in FA, the T1 had their role and worked until the end

T3 were expensive and took serious leaps in production where T1 well placed units could DPS the SHIT out of everything

SupCom2 is literally exactly like TA, you've just never played it so you'll never know

>no rate based eco
>TA-like

>One things different
>All other similarities cease to exist for the small minded pleb

>literally exactly like
>one thing different

wew

double nigger

>Honing in on semantics since his argument is so shit
wew lawd

>one thing different
Bitch if your DNA was 1% different you'd be a dolphin or a banana.

No way apeboy

It's enough to change how the macro scale of queuing tons of units on repeat worked in TA and SupCom and becomes CnC on the SupCom engine.

It flopped for a reason and Taylor was a retard for ignoring the fans he made with TA and SupCom1.

it really reminded me of starcraft in the worst ways

also squeenix story lol

The economy is what makes it interesting you dumb dumb

This guy explains it quite well, and I'm inclined to agree with most of what he wrote.

Where the fuck did Chris Taylor disappear to
Who owns the SupCom franchise, anyway? THQ Nordic?

THQ no longer exists.

Some of their franchises ended up with THQ Nordic, which still exists.

>just getting to T2 and the other guy already has a Duke

How
You can shit out a half dozen monkeylords for the price of one duke
