How come KOF characters manage respectable, high paying jobs but not Street Fighter characters?

KoF is a mess.
Because KOF characters manage to actually have some character while SF mostly has a bunch of walking tropes. At least old KOF did, they've kinda fallen off with the newer characters.
It seems like in Street Fighter you're either some sort of cop, evil, or unemployed.
There are more SF characters with "normal" lives than KOF characters.
SF only has a couple kung-fu hobos like Ryu and Akuma. Everyone else are cops, entrepreneurs, millionaires, or part of a multinational startup.
Most of the KOF cast are people who explicitly live for fighting, teachers, students, sanctioned fighters, specialist assassins. Only a few like King have an actual life beyond fighting.
Chun-Li and Guile are the fuzz, Zangief and E. Honda are just professionals in their sports, and Ryu and Blanka are unemployed. I guess Dhalsim might be too? I know Ken's rich, but what even is his company?

Most of the SF cast is rich as fuck. Dhalsim is the richest indian in his poor as country. Ryu lives off tournament winnings. Hell, Dan inherited his father's dojo money. No one is poor in this universe except for Cody and Ryu.
Either that or he was kicked out for not showing up.
I also forgot that Benimaru is a model.
Ken makes money off of licensing his image to shit like posters and toys.

I've read a lot more "it works really well" reports. That's kind thing with PC games and why PC-ports are not so trivial thing as Sup Forums believes, different hardware fucks shit up in different ways.
