It's also a very respected job outside of fat computer science neets on a message board

Hope you like wallowing in human shit. My experience is probably skewed since I deliver pharma exclusively to retirement homes but every fucking nurse I meet is exhausted and it's pretty common for the stench of human waste to permeate throughout the halls.

Honestly, the hospital was my favorite area.

Because you actually help people, even in a very distant way. It's a meaningful job, like it or not.

Doing jack shit in front of a computer (by that i mean all the jobs requiring to be in front of a computer) isn't meaningful.

its not though, after wiping people's shit for 2000 hours it wont feel that way to you. no jobs are meaningful, its something you either do to survive or because of peer pressure. its a crap job that pays shit wages like any other service job. why do you think 90% of nurses are women and minorities? its because theyre unskilled workers who are too stupid to get a BA.

if you're too stupid to get a college degree, then just learn a trade. fixing people's toilets is every bit as "meaningful" as wiping people's shit. except it actually pays a livable wage. and you'll be treated with marginally more respect.

I was trying to find another one in which some lardass was stuck to his couch, and when the nurses tried to pull him out his back "came off" as it was glued to the couch, with his flesh having deteriorated from being in an almost plant-like state for far too long. I don't remember the details and naturally it sounds like a load of bull, but it's interesting nonetheless

dude, just because you have a shitty job you hate doesn't mean that's how everyone else feels.

and I've spent extended amounts of time in hospitals, so I know how meaningful even some of the most menial jobs there are. meaningful enough that tearful family members will thank you gratuitously for caring for their loved ones. somehow, getting your toilet fixed isn't the same as someone caring for your mother/father/brother/sister/spouse.

Serious question, what drives people to become nurses?
The job is shit and stressful. You'll have to work nights, shave people's pubes before surgeries, insert catheters in their urethras, change diapers etc. and the pay isn't fabulous either
