What are people's opinion on Zeroken? I disliked him at first since he sounded like Sonic the Headgehog, but these little in base cutscene thing are really helping me take a shine to him, he's honest and pretty cute, and good friends with Usalia.
I'd kill for D4 with this kind of character interaction, Fenrich and Desco for example barely ever talked to eachother.

As much as I liked the D4 crew they didn't had much interaction overall except for the normal group talking. Fenrich was the worst though. His whole character was too much focused on Val.
That's like the complete opposite of how I felt.
The crew in D5 really doesn't come across as friends at all to me, they barely talk or interact much with one another and in the grand scheme of things half of them are completely irrelevant and might as well not exist. Each of them gets a "growth" chapter where they are supposed to overcome their past and character flaws but during those the rest of the group always just straight up becomes irrelevant, they are only there to say "we support you" right before the climax of each of those chapters pretty much.
D4 was the polar opposite of that, they all helped each other grow over the course of the ENTIRE game, not just a single chapter each where they did pretty much all their character development on their own, and were constantly interacting, bickering, and bantering with one another and talking about their problems.
Huh? Do you have the games mixed up? D5 is all about the cast interacting. D4 had almost nothing, Fenrich told Desco to shoot a beam one time in the moon chapter and that was about it as far as their relationship went. The height of Fuka and Emizel's '''friendship''' was that Fuka stood up for him one time in the Evilection chapter, but besides that he would just call her stupid.
I'm not even sure what kind of bond Artina and Desco have, nor Artina and Emizel, they both fill the 'relatively normal person' role in the party but have talked to each other maybe once or twice.
You say they all help each other with their issues, but that's really just Val who sets everyone (but Artina) off on their respective character arcs, and I love him for it, but D5 blows all this out of the water just by showing how the characters behave around each other in a casual setting. I especially like how Magus gets along with Christo, and how Seraphina is very subtly warming up to Magnus, even saying S U P E R in some of her lines. Really, did you ignore all the explanation marks above everyone's head when you played through D5?

Those little side events are nice and I hope they continue doing them, yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that even if none of them had ever met and traveled together the plot would have run the exact same course. Red Magnus would have overcome his guilt regardless of Killia&co being there, Seraphina would have realized that her father being a worthless sod and her being momentarily poor doesn't fucking matter regardless of Killia&co being there, etc. The other cast members are basically nonexistent in anything but their own dedicated chapter and when the story nears its end and it's all about Killia and his revenge they don't contribute anything either, they might as well not have existed.
