I played for like 15 minutes until I encountered people and couldn't figure out how to avoid them and open some door. I'm trash at fps stealth games.

Not Sup Forums but my brother hyped up that fps Strafe. He was suckered by the trailer, it's an incredibly bland and shallow fps roguelite. Three main weapons and 0 meta progression. I got Ziggurat a week or two ago for comparison and that has tons.of content. No idea why they thought a twenty dollar price point was acceptable for that.

The problem is that the game is too repetitive. When the Alien isn't there, it isn't very interesting. If it was either shorter, or more varied with stuff people who like Alien haven't seen before, I'd be more interested in continuing.

Ironically, it's only the reboot that rises slightly above mediocre.

But when the alien is there it becomes "hide in a locker" the game, and none of your weapons or craft able items are worth a damned. Seriously, you're better off crouching and playing like it's a walking simulator 100% of the time.

The only two games that were generally praised around this site that I found to be almost irredeemably bad were Alan's Wake and Max Payne 3.
In general I have absolutely no idea how anyone can praise Remedy's design approach these days - Remedy's designed approach combined with the vapid Rockstar overproduction seems like a truly deadly combination.
I haven't paid for either of them, so I'm not really mad. I just can't understand how those games can be so often praised when games like TLOU get shat on. It's weirdly hypocritical. Though as time goes on on this site, Sup Forums shitting on something is becoming increasingly irrelevant, I guess.

Dragons Dogma is also a game I've noticed to be a bit overrated and praised for all the wrong reasons, but Dragon Dogma is at least creative, and I can kinda understand why people dig it.

Alan's Wake and Max Payne 3 are just bad and there is nothing to excuse that terrible, terrible design.

This. You need to learn how the alien works and what it's ai can do and it becomes a lot easier, but at that point it's just spending 2 hours in lockers afraid to move at all.

You play A:I for the top notch aesthetics. No one ever said it was good. If being able to walk around in a Ridley Scott set isn't appealing to you of course you aren't going to like it.
