Final Fantasy VII Remake Team Urgently Recruiting

>For this project, we aim to surpass the original work in terms of quality by increasing the number of staff to strengthen the core company development as we head into the development progress phase.

>as we head into the development progress phase.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS IT ALL A DREAM?

Okay guys, today we're going to re-make Madden 2005.

But, this time around, it's 5 on 5 basketball instead of football.

We're trying to capture the same audience.

Sounds more like polishing.
Mark my words release March-June 2018

Man i love slowly jumping back and forth

>t. didn't even play FF7

Daily reminder there are people who bought a PS3, a PS4 and a PS4.5 for FF7remake
They also will buy a PS5 and whatever comes after that for it

>play anywhere title for Xbox release

Just wait, I bet we'll get a Shenmue-style Kickstarter to help "gauge interest" for the game.

GOD I FUCKING HATE SQUARE

this piece of shit Nomura gets decades to fail but they put IO out of business because one game didn't sell enough. I fucking hate Japs

Yeah yeah, just don't buy it then.

Jesus crhist you people are stupid

Either FF7R or Kingdom Hearts 3 will get cancelled, or worse, get the FFXV treatment. Nomura's spreading himself too thin as usual.

didn't plan on it

They didn't put IO out of business, just laid off some stuff, a lot of companies are doing the same recently and it makes sense since they're only working in the Hitman chapters now

I hate Enix, they put Square out of making good games.

IO was shit from start to finish, Square didn't suck until 2001.

>as we head into the development progress phase.

Yes, that's what they said. I don't get your outrage, what seems to be the issue here? You understand the concept of pre-production in development cycles, right?

And thats why you update your fans about what you're doing instead of doing a 2 year post production and having 3 interviews where you say that the game is still being developed instead of the game is still in its testing phase.

They literally spent 2 years rewriting the script, finding and modifying a game engine and then created prototypes to see how it would feel like.

And just now 2 years later they finally settle on the story, engine, character movement and combat and the scale.

Dont expect part 1 to get released until 2020.

They used UE4 right away though

retard

Yeah i'm sure they just started development NOW.
Man summer is real

Not to defend Square Enix but IO was a purchase while Nomura is a part of the original Squaresoft inhouse team.
They can sell IO under the reason that it was a bad purchase despite it looking unfair.

>merge with Enix
>the CEO of the merger comes from Enix, when Square is worth more, has more games, and is more iconic worldwide
>Square IPs treated like shit for a decade, even when they're flagships
Modern CEO Matsuda is pretty cool though. He rolled back a lot of bad decisions Wada made. But the damage still hurts the company to this day. Like the FF13 trilogy. The games are okay but not everyone liked them.

It's an unfortunate translation but it's not hard to see what he meant. They're not starting development, they're entering the "progress phase" of development. They have been developing the game and reached the point when just about all the creative work is done so all that's left is to increase the rate at which they churn out assets and actually make them work together as a game.

so optimistic

>jp.square-enix.com/recruit/career/group/1bd/
>we have increased the staff to strengthen the in-house development which is the axis, and entered the development phase
Welp, delayed to 2020 here we come!

Want HD normie graphics? Get normie game development practices.

Do you think they'll show more from the game at E3 next month? Hoping for Tifa, or at least Aeris.

>2020
Try 2023 and only if they don't fuck up and actually meat the 25 year anni deadline.

Screencap it

Sure is summer in here

If they show Tifa at E3, we'll find out.

>Tifa
Moment of truth lads. Buy or no buy depends on this.

>Aeris
Also something to consider. "s" fags might be btfo.

You must realize this remake is not for FFVII fans. It's for the secondary audience who only know FFVII through Crisis Core, Dissidia and whatnot.

I bet all of you want the huge as FMV tits even though her ingame model looked way better

Jesus get out of your bubble kiddo. I can easily play both, it won't take away from the original.
Why is it always allowed to only like one thing here

It's mainly for people who are unfamiliar with FFVII. They say so right in the interview.
>Twenty years have gone by and the number of generations that aren’t familiar with Final Fantasy VII is increasing

That said, I liked FFVII a lot and I really look forward to this. Glad the long awaited remake is finally happening.

The one in your pic related is perfectly fine. The smallest I would accept is Dissidia Duodecim Tifa size.

Oh, just realized that Square hasn't started working on the game yet. So its possible we might get a playable Tifa, and not get stuck with Cloud for 80 hours since its apparently ARPG now.
I secretly hope they hire people who can make ATB. And that it can be fully playable in ATB. With dynamic camera of course, for those types who want the camera behind Cloud for 80 hours.

>huge ass fmv tits

That would be nice, but the fact that they were bigger in the FMVs was always weird. Tifa's tits are (thin) Kat Dennings tier, not Christina Hendricks.

Well it's already gonna be an episodic release might just mean the rest of the releases

But hey I guess I'm fine with it taking longer considering the combat vid we have was shit tier in terms of fps and design

Gotta love how Sup Forums always acts like they know everything about management and development whenever something like this happens. Did you guys ever look at the fucking Blizzard job sites

They're still completly clueless on what to do, expect a shitshow ala FFXV

>expect a """""shitshow""""" ala GOTY 2016
Uh, ok.

Was it hard to choose between no mans sky and ff15 as your goty 2016?

>this piece of shit Nomura gets decades to fail
Wait, how did Nomura get decades to fail? If you are talking about total career, KH was a massive success. If you are talking about FFXV, it wasn't in developement for very long, then he got taken off the project. I've seriously never understood the hate for Nomura. Do you guys just put his name in front of everything that goes wrong with the company, even when he isn't part of a project in any fashion?

>it's been 2 years
>they're just starting development

So what have they been doing? Figuring out how to have the menu commands in an action game?

>another game directed by Nomura
>another game taking way longer than it should

AAA games should take 3-4 years max. How have they not learned their lesson after all these fuck ups? They're not even using that garbage engine and yet no real progress in 2 years since they announced it.

He'll forever be blamed for XV even though a big problem in that case was 14 1.0, 13 development and overall the management behind Wada at the time. Now people act like every single one of his games took 10 years, even fucking 7R even though it's been less than 2 years.
It's a meme at this point

Can't wait for E3 so dumb threads like this can stop

Maybe we'll get a big trailer and info dump like FF15 got in late 2014, only 2 years before it would eventually release.

>we aim to surpass the original work in terms of quality
>Using Unreal4

Where is KH3?

2 years is enough time to actually have something substantial, they basically haven't started and track records only show he isn't fit to lead projects anymore and is already begging for help.

>Where is KH3?

Congratulations, Sup Forums. You learned the truth about modern game dev.

Projects cannot meet their hype, so devs milk the publisher as long as possible to keep a steady income, then dump and run with a shit game.

The leads all have ties/sex with their bosses and get to keep their jobs, hire more suckers, and the cycle continues.

Please show us the inside scoop on how assets are currently being allocated between projects at squenix, and how Nomura's time is being spent between all those projects.

If he needs programmers, how the hell do you expect a game to be made without them? Is this mother fucking rocket science to you whiney bitches?

The only reason they keep Nomura around is because it would be a PR disaster if he left.

i will always prefer the older graphics
they give me that comfy feeling

Then why are FFVII and KH3 in dev hell?

No excuses. FFVII's code monkeys are CC2 which are one of the most efficient jap devs. KH3's made by the BbS and 3D team with 3 HD remasters on their hands.

Nomura is the perfect example of a "no talent" designer getting put in a development position because of his time at the company. His original ideas have always been mediocre, he's just coasting off the success of a game from 15 years ago.

FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and FFVII are indisputably Square's finest and most critically acclaimed games. They all were developed 20 fucking years ago. Since that time, all Nomura has done are creative and production work on AA titles masquerading as AAA. Nomura is just not as good a developer as his predecessors from 20 years ago, which is insane considering how far the industry has come in 20 years.

Is that true?

Sounds like you were burned by Star Citizen, Mighty Number Nine or something and now you think every studio is like that.

>Chrono Trigger
Well thanks for showing your bias early on. CT was too niche for all the grandeur you want to give it. You need to spend a little less time on Sup Forums user.

And yet he played a huge role in FF7
Who the fuck else should the use, there's barely anyone left at Square

>big problem in that case was 14 1.0, 13 development and overall the management behind Wada at the time
Actually the main reason that connects all of these together is Square's decision to make crystal tools, that engine 13 and 14 1.0 used and the engine versus xiii (xv) was going to use.
For some reason square decided they wanted to make their own "universal engine" that would be used by all of their big budget 3D games, they were originally going use it on two of the FNC titles. However, they were still making the engine at the time of the announcement, wouldn't be done with it for another year, and eventually had to focus around making it solely for 13 (as trying to make an engine that suited everyone's needs was impossible and time wasting.) This meant versus xiii's development was slowed down considerably while all of the focus was put on 13. After 13 was finished and the versus team finally got to start developing the game again, they realized that the engine wasn't going to cut it and slowly switched to the Luminous engine (another in-house engine that was still being worked on hurrr). I also remember reading that the crystal tools engine was one of the reasons that was listed by someone at square as to why 14 1.0 failed as well.

Another reason in general that square still does is announce games that haven't started actual development yet. 13 didn't start being developed until a year after it was announced. Versus 13 got fucked over had to switch engines and wouldn't start true full production until 2011. Type-0 wasn't even being worked on until around 2009. And they still do it today with kh3 and 7 remake

tl;dr: Square is a stupid company that doesn't learn from their mistakes. I can source all of this, I got bored the other day and decided to do some autistic research on how the FNC titles fucked up so much

I'm more concerned as to whether Tifa will maintain Asiatic traits like she did in Advent Children and if she'll still have red eyes.

Tits are a concern too, but admittedly not my priority.

>Please show us the inside scoop on how assets are currently being allocated between projects at squenix, and how Nomura's time is being spent between all those projects.

Irrelevent, the consumers don't care about that shit, they'll see Nomura's name as director and remember it's another big project gonna take forever and telling people 2 years and you're just starting development ain't a good sign.

>how the hell do you expect a game to be made without them?

I expect games of this scope to be 3/4 done in this timeframe, not this shit where he's begging around again to JUST start

PS4 here we come!

Hopefully yeah

It's an entirely different genre. It can't be better since its uncomparable.

All I hope is they keep the silly shit. I want to see all the weird enemies in hd. I better see shit like this stay the exact same, just hd.

Am I the only one who thinks this will be a PS5 game?

They have to be mentally retarded.

VIIR announcement was nothing but a publicity stunt to promote XV and get some FF hype for its unfinished release.

>re-make Madden 2005
>We're trying to capture the same audience.

cucks and chads?

Better than preordering, the industry need AAA crowdfundings now.

You missed the joke.

To be fair it wasn't a good joke

When the game comes out, it'll be the real joke.

Maybe. We'll see.
Of course you'd hate it no matter what.

>Irrelevent, the consumers don't care about that shit, they'll see Nomura's name as director and remember it's another big project gonna take forever and telling people 2 years and you're just starting development ain't a good sign.

So ignorant opinions are important while unbiased facts are pointless? What the fuck are we even trying to argue here? That your shitty opinion is the best opinion ever? Fuck...

>to JUST start
So you are saying you expect games to be nearly finished with no development time? Are you a mother fucking idiot that doesn't know how games are made?

>modifying the story

For what purpose? That's the one thing that has no reason at all to be touched.

>buy football game
>hate it because it's basketball now

why wouldn't you hate it?

They already said that basicly nothing of the other shit from CC or AC will be in it. Sup Forums just wants everyone to hate this.

You should do some equally smart food analogies too. You're very good at this.

>So you are saying you expect games to be nearly finished with no development time? Are you a mother fucking idiot that doesn't know how games are made?

Heh, development time shouldn't be taking 2 years to start after announcement. Don't blame the consumer for devs lazying around.

It is a fact that Nomura put little work on XV while he was lead director.

It is a fact that Nomura is taking forever with KH3.

It is a fact that 2 years after announcement Nomura has done practically nothing on FF7 remake.

Keep sucking off your garbage devianart character deisgner

>order pizza
>they deliver chinese

do you suck it up and eat it, or complain and boycott the terrible service?

>buy Ford Mustang
>they give keys for a Toyota Camry

>buy Final Fantasy
>get generic slow action game

Damn. Genius!

>square IPs get new entries
>superior Enix IPs are just dead

>go to olive garden
>give you mcdonalds menu to order from

>Nomura doesn't need a team because he is supposed to build a game on his own
Fuck off with your ignorance.

Will FF7 and KH3 release before 2020? At this rate I'm guessing neither will.

He gets a team

The problem is he doesn't know how to manage them effectively as evident with his recent track record. Gonna laugh my ass off when they just call someone else 2 years from now to wrap it up.

>buy remake of a game
>get remake of a game that modernizes the archaic aspects of the original and lets you witness the same events and locales from a more detailed fresh perspective

Fuck yeah, everything went better than expected.

>evident from a lack of evidence
Yeah... Fuck off you ignorant armchair logic jackass...

It's great that I resisted the temptation of buying a ps4 when FFXV was about to come out, thinking I would later have a machine to play FFVIIR on. Not only did the former end up being shit, the later will probably be a ps5 game.

> Damn, this industry is such a fucking joke

Is there a company worse at time management than SE? They simply cannot make big games in a timely manner. It's like they operate on a different time scale than regular humans. Nomura-san ain't living till 500. People have graduated high school and college waiting for their games to be released. This is unacceptable.

Maybe they should try to hire new people especialyl directors instead of relying on the same 2-3 old people. Square is too afraid of new shit and changes

Actually Versus 13 was never really in development until 2012 & the extra delay was due to PS4 & Tabata wanted his own shitty vision

You mean PS5 right?

2011 technically

It'll suck.
