Am I dumb for not understanding the story?

Am I dumb for not understanding the story?

Guys if you're thinking of buying this pile, DON'T - it took me 8 hours to complete and the ending wasn't just unsatisfying it was nonsensical.

which ending?

>which ending?

There's more than one?

It had multiple endings, but they're not like chapters.
Each one goes through the story in a different character's perspective with more information being revealed as you progress.

What's there not to understand?

Oh you poor little casual.

There are twenty six.

Oh trust me, it's still nonsensical if you get all the major endings.

>*but they're more like chapters.

>he only played to ending A

Depends what you mean by not understanding.
Alot of it is told thriugh characters and their interactions. Its more subtle than most videogames these days. I don't mean that in an elitist sense, just that you do have to engage with the story and characters and sidequests.

Yes, the story is simple as fuck you might be beyond dumb.

Yes, you are. It's actually a pretty damn simple story.

But at the same time you get closure on most of the plot points. It weaves in excess stuff that is interesting still, but the main questions from the first playthrough are definitely answered imo.

nierfags are so far up their own asshole they literally take this bait every time

>tfw you cant even tell if this is bait or not

People are really fucking stupid and I wouldnt be suprised if what he said was actually true.

Truly a scary time in Sup Forums's life.

>30% of the game is a tedious and boring hacking mini-game

Why is this allowed? I was having fun too before having 9S forced on me.

Taro's stories are really nothing special.
People overrate them pretty hard.

Game needed more of 2B. She's the flagship heroine of the title yet we literally playing every other character more than her, and basically becomes inconsequential after the first ending.

That was probably like the whole point. It was a MGS2 scenario.

Yeah they fucked up 9S really good, literally just hold down Y until you get to the C ending. I would even forgive them this if the minigame was actually good.

The good thing is that you get used to those shit controls rather quickly.

It was bait and switch man, and what a good bait it was.

You don't have to hack. You only have yourself to blame if that is how you choose to hand combat.

That's because you witness her final character development in ending A and after that she just tragically dies.
Her real story was developed in Memory thorn / cage outside of the game.

...

Can you blame them? People are retarded enough that those "bait" posts could be perfectly genuine

Hell, there was even one reviewer who said he "didn't feel like replaying the same story over and over for obscure clues" or something like that and only completed ending A

>Taro will definitely go deeper into hacking as the enemies and bosses get harder

Literally the same 5 or so mini shoot em ups for 8 hours including bosses.

What a fucking hack.

Remember how reviewers treated the first Nier? They didnt even know that there was like 3/4 of the game waiting for them after ending A, and based their reviews on that.

At least Automata gives you a message after completing ending A, dont know if Nier did this.

I didn't mind the hacking minigame. The smaller ones are over in a split second, the bigger ones are over in a few seconds that makes sense bevause of the damage your do.
The longer ones have speech and story aswell so they're cool.

Even without hacking, all 9S has is a single button combo and pause combo so he's still boring as fuck. For a """platinum""" game, this hack n slash was as barebones as it gets.

Is there a more satisfying feeling than when you're taking a poop and it all comes out as one long, uninterrupted turd?

That's because it's not a Platinum game, it's a Taro game. Platinum were not the directors and they worked with Taro because they liked his previous works.
Anyone who went into Automata expecting Bayonetta or MG:R is an idiot.
