Looks okish to me.

>kickstarter game not coming along as expected

I am blown away.

...

We get it, it's a TORtanic level disaster, blah, blah, blah. Can you stop spamming it now?

Why does every single thing in that screen look like it has an entirely different art style from every other thing?

Horrendously ugly

They won't. Or at least not until something is shown in E3. Then they will bitch again.

destructoid.com/blogs/Xombiemike/bloodstained-still-planned-for-early-2018-437801.phtml

tl;dr: the actual number is probably higher

Are there any positive Kickstarter game projects that have actually spawned a (good) game that delivered on its promises?

Currently can't think of anything other than Divinity Original Sin

so 31% then?

>Iga isn't the super genius he's meant to be

Nine years from now my child might be able to play a finished HGH!!!! Guys I'm so excited!!!!!

;/

just play rabi ribi. bloodstained will be shit, you heard it here first

i thought this shit came out last year. what was that other game just like it that came out then?

I'd rather not play any games. Thanks

>Mighty No 9 comes out
>it's shit
>The real Megaman gets in Marvel infinite
>Bloodstained taking it's sweet ass time
>new Castlevania show soon

Every KS project is destined to get BTFO

Don't forget Yooka Laylee
And Shantae

>Rosenkreuzstilette was 100 times better than what the "Creator of mega man" shat out

shantae is ok, momodora rutm and hollow knight are miles ahead though

>new momo is 3D

But it straight out copied level layouts and enemies of Megaman games...

>Bloodstained is unfortunate enough to come out after Hollow Knight

YA I FUCKING KNOW, it looks like absolute dogshit.. please don't remind me lmfao...

i was emailing with rdein right after RUTM released and he was saying he wanted to make a tactics game like FFT/tactics ogre LUCT... but now i guess he just wants to make a shit darksouls knockoff.. so fucking dumb since the momodora series has been great thus far

>>new momo is 3D

Could be great with a decent budget.

>Unity

Oh never mind.

have you seen the fucking trailer? rofl

>hollow knight devs will literally never ever stop shilling their shitty game in every thread

>lmfao
>rofl

>that one webm that makes this game look fucking awful

Holy shit it's so bad.

...

If I go back to beddit, you need to go back to Facebook. Deal?

It also sold and was received so badly the translator cried about it on his blog.

>was received so badly

Really? It's a solid game.

i don't even have a facebook bud

schwer-muta.blogspot.com/2017/05/state-of-schwesternschaft.html

People cared so little RKS has a Null Metacritic score because not enough people even reviewed it.

And I don't have a reddit account.

I am not seeing the badly received bit. Most reviews are kind to it. The main issue I have with it is that it is easier than the original version.

Daily h8 threadkun?

...

je ne comprende pas.

>only upcoming metroidvania worth giving a fuck about will probably never come out

Sales do not seem too bad when you realize that it is a freaking indie game released over a decade ago. The people who cared for it moved on a loooong time ago. That it even got sales is a good thing, even if they were not stellar. They should have been able to predict this.

>only

Nigger please.

>Hearth Forth Alicia
>Timespinner

Should've stuck with the original pixelart look of the game. 3D was a mistake

With a name like that I'm not even surprised that it wasn't more well-known.

Yeah, and it's entirely possible it will pick up steam over time. Especially during sales.

That's not even halfway reasonable in the current industry. Pixel art on a massive scale is expensive and on top of that people who make pixel art are few in numbers because it's not the industry standard anymore and hasn't been in about 20 years.

Also, there was never an "original pixel art" look to the game, it was day 1 planned for 3D.

I have faith that it will see sales slowly creep up over the year. When I learned about it on japanese twitter, people here on Sup Forums were surprised it even got translated at all or that it was brought to steam to begin with. The game is good, it just needs more exposure.

hollow knight can afford nice 2d graphics but a professional over funded studio cannot.

Thing is, I haven't even gotten around to buying it.

That and Astro Port's new game.

Because it's a "professional Console game" it must be HD, and 3D is the easiest way to do HD.

Too late, doomsday is in 4 years now

user, sprites, as used in Metroidvanias, are far more expensive than what Hollow Knight uses.

>all projects are equal in cost and scope

it looks like shit, the only reason Sup Forums shills this game is because they jerk off to the girl

Kill yourself.

are you saying hollow knight is not hd?

>muh sprites and pixels are expensive, I'm soooo smart, didn't you know that they're expensive? costs so much, but you wouldn't know that

where did this fucking meme come from

It has an extremely simple character designs. It has an "indie" look to it.

Iga hadn't done a proper console game for ages, so he aimed a bit too high.

What does Hollow Knight use? I'm genuinely curious, it's not sprites but it looks very nice. Is it kinda like Skullgirls, where they like draw everything by hand and then put the drawings into the game or something?

its so easy to tell apart all the retarded faggots itt that funded this blunder

From actual artists comments on how it is done? Pixel animation is a grueling, arduous job.

Dont listen to him he is a retard.
He thinks sprites != pixelshit

Sprite just a general term to define asset, not bound to style.

>Simple character design - SD
>Complex character desigg = HD

Are you just plain retarded or autistic?

Hollow Knight's style is so much simpler than what this would have needed, and the fact that it's a small indie studio is probably the key to why they could afford it. You could have a couple of guys working crazy hours and subsisting on ramen to finish some passion project, but it doesn't really work with a larger professional studio with loads of employees where you need to make payroll, pay overtime, benefits, follow all the rules etc.

No. Not by a long shot. Compare it to actual work from professionals. This is what detail looks like.
Adobe suit, most likely.

Pls...pls! No bully!

For real, stop spouting uneducated nonsense.
You dont have a slightest idea about the topic you are trying to discuss.

I got a PS4 pro and a 4k tv so it's going to look like ass for me. I'm thinking about just throwing it in the bin when it gets delivered. I helped kick start it ages ago and it looks worse everyday.

professional pixel artists have actually said this to be the case, why speak so confidently on something you aren't even in the know about?

you act like it's not common knowledge by now
we get it, you're super educated on pixelshit and how expensive it is, great job

They never said that.

IGA mentioned they went 3D because 2D was expensive.

Pixel art is faster and cheaper than hand-drawn assets.

Thats not HD though, those are sprites. The literal opposite of what high definition would be.

Are you insinuating that this simplistic style measures up with what SotN did for common enemies? There are limits to fanboy denial.

It was HD in the freaking PSX age, dumbass.

No, I'm saying it is even better because it is hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation rather than rigs made of assets.

In F2F you will never see weird, uncanny shit when the character moves his arm (part of the rig) but the rest of the body is completely still. This shit just funky and mostly happens in these rigs.

in f2f, be it pixel or hand-drawn/stencil - all the motion/animation is fluid, continuous. It is fucking great.

Good for an indie, but pales to what Konami has done.

>hand-drawn
user, that thing looks like freaking flash.

What.
It is hand drawn and inked. From what I see all the assets actually vectored so they have that clean "flash look" because Flash operated with vectors too. But it is not flash, you can see some nice inconsistency that had-drawn stuff has.

I see what you're saying, but I'm not sure such a look would have worked for Bloodstained. All the art I've seen for Hollow Knight, while very nice, has a soft pastel look, whereas Bloodstained was aiming for the more gothic feel of Castlevanias. You could argue they did it very poorly (I wouldn't agree entirely, the moon and the statues in some of those areas looks very cool), but I'm not sure if a Hollow Knight style could get across that atmosphere as well as they would like.

Any game that ask for

>but I'm not sure such a look would have worked for Bloodstained
Wasn't really my point. I just jumped into discussion about what is used in SoTN and HK.

I don't know what would be better for Bloodstained but definitely not the way they went.

Actually.

Actually, I know! They should have went the same way Valdis Story did with 3d rigs transfered into 2d sprites. The devs fist made a rig and animated and then used pretty cool way to transfer into 2D base layout and do touch-ups, polishing and detailing.

VS looked damn rad.

>It is hand drawn and inked.
Now this is rich. Pay a close attention to things like the arms, head, legs and the sword. Notice anything? They simply rotated the assets and presto! New poses!

And that's how you save money and time. Don't blame them really, they are a small studio on a small budget.

Just replay this after Hollow Knight
It was then that I realize SoTN aged like milk.
It's shit.

>games take long time to make
where's the news?

That's kind of what I've been thinking about as well. It seems like Kickstarter is reasonably effective for projects under 1 million, but beyond that, it's extremely risky and inefficient for anything more expensive. If you need to go to kickstarter in the first place, you might have the necessary skills to manage a budget of less than a million and a fanbase of a few thousand people, but if you get more than that, you find you simply don't have the expertise to make sure all your resources are going into the right places, and you don't have the staff necessary to interact with thousands upon thousands of backers, most of whom are far more contentious than investors.

That said, I haven't lost faith in Bloodstained entirely, due to the article linked above--it's possible (I said this in an earlier thread) that IGA was just being self-effacing and the game is more than 30% complete in a meaningful sense. I'll wait until E3; the demo might completely blow us away. If it's bad, *then* we can panic.

Was this reply to me?

That only works on cartooney styles.

>Hearth Forth Alicia
>Timespinner

Both look like shit.

No, not only. It can be applied to anywhere when needed.

So is your mum.

Show me a detailed gothic styled 3D to sprite animation in action.

Meant for

I was talking about the gameplay, not artstyle.
Sorry if that was unclear.

>MC is a cute girl.
>obvious failsafe by waifubating

You can easily see the coming game is shit by this.

SJW won.

Pretty female MC are not failsafes, and neither do they help you if the game is shit.

>Show me a detailed gothic styled 3D to sprite animation in action.
Are you implying that just because it was used in a specific game with specific aesthetics it is impossible?

I mean, that is your argument? Really? THIS is what you've cooked up 30 minuets later as a reply?

Did you genuinely think it was a good one while typing? I'm just curious.

Basically, let me simplify what you said using hyperbole so it will be obvious:

>if specific game X with specific aesthetic was never made using specific tech Y that means tech Y is shit and babytalk

video games are shit

...

That was not directed at you, shit for brains.

>
>Meant for (You)

Even if it wasn't me you don't have a luxury to ignore response you don't find comfortable to argue with.
