I would do a Power Stone clone, improve in combat and add more special and combo moves. Also I would add extra outfits like Secret Rings, Black Knight, Riders, Boom, Olimpic Games and Classic character versions.

Sonic Battle was not inherently a bad concept, honestly. The problem was that it was on the GBA and limited by both hardware and number of buttons. I would love a revamped Sonic Battle on a modern system (even the 3DS would be fine, but a console would be preferred) with the same general gameplay that's been polished to a mirror sheen. Expand the cast beyond 6 characters, keep the gimmick of something like Emerel to make your own fighter.

I would do a sort of "battle and race" type game. Reminiscent to the SA2 Sonic Vs Shadow finale, or the Metal Sonic race.

Players spend time gathering rings and power ups, and clash on shared portions of a track.

Fuck what everyone says, I really enjoyed the Shadow the Hedgehog game. It was different enough from the standard Sonic garbage that Sega was vomiting out to be fun, I liked the different story routes, the vast variety of weapons were fun (especially the last one unlocked, the Shadow Rifle), and listening to Shadow try to swear was hilarious.

My only problem with it was that the bosses lacked variety.

Sonic the fighters with the guilty gear shader and that's literally it. It's easily the best slapstick cartoon styled game i've played and its fun, just needs to look a bit less polygonal.

24 playable characters is a good number, not too much to spread development thin, not too little to be boring. All unlocked at the start.

Non playable bosses : Eggman, Omega, Chaos

Possible Sonic-fied DLC of other SEGA characters, like Billie Hatcher, Beat or Ulala in the future.

The game features five lightning fast rounds, 3D fighting on a 2D plane, with large destructible environments that you can turn off for more serious commutative fighting.

A main single player tournament mode where your player wins, gets their own unique ending cutscene / Survival mode where you battle the whole cast one at a time with increasing difficulty and no regenerating health, fighting hidden boss. And a 'story' mode where you play as Sonic fighting his way through the games main plot.

One of the big features of the game though would be that for every character you can unlock a retro style mini game if you win the main mode with them in single player.
Sonic would have a remix of classic sonic style platforming for a few levels. Antoine would get a Legend of Zelda style mini game. Amy would get a cooking mini game. Shadow would get a beat em up ala Golden Axe.

Some of these mini games would tie into the true plot of the game, serving as side stories or behind the scenes actions. But some, like Amy's cooking mini game, are just there to be cute.
