>Nintendo has ordered a production increase of its Switch gaming console as global stocks fail to meet demand and disappointed fans scramble to secure machines through an informal online market in “Switch futures”, say people close to the company.
>The planned production hike for the console is designed to meet demand ahead of the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales peak in late autumn, and has been ordered just weeks after Nintendo declared the $300-priced Switch to be its fastest-selling gaming device.
>People involved in Nintendo’s hardware supply chain say the Kyoto-based games maker is now targeting Switch hardware production of 18m units for the 12 months ending March 2018.
You think Switch will live up to Nintendo expectation??
Arms got a huge boost after the Fire Test Splatoon is fools proof E3 and the quality of Odyssey will cement whether or not they keep on a Roll for the rest of the year
I'm curious how it's selling in Leafland >Console is 400 dollars >2 Joycons is 100 dollars >Games are 80 dollars So if I wanted to get a Switch and a local multiplayer game like ARMS or MK8 I'd have to pay 580 dollars plus tax. I'm waiting on a price drop and a Metroid.
Cooper Jones
Heard Nintendo wants to announce a new game of an existing IP this E3, so Metroid could be a real possibility, Nintendo's been on a role lately.
Evan Green
On a roll, even. Fucking typos
David Cooper
Switch is the perfect ground base to try a metroid revival, I mean, it worked for Fire Emblem in 3DS
Jacob Price
Something I just realized. Is Kimishima permanent? I thought he was just the placeholder guy for the position.
Hunter Moore
Man, all these decisions by Nintendo are really gonna make me get a fucking Switch, man, but I'm still salty about paid online.
I'm very excited for Fire Emblem and Monster Hunter in particular, but ARMS and the new Mario are also looking sweet.
Cooper James
He's immortal, it's as permanent as it gets.
Jayden Ross
>nintendo could win the console war at any given time without even trying >they won't because they are retarded
I'll never understand.
Jackson Rivera
He's the actual president. The placeholders were Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda.
Gabriel Long
I'm still baffled how this is so successful. The normie really is a fickle beast. At least it's Nintendo, which still makes quality games, unlike soft or sony.
Jason Turner
The only saving grace of Nintendo's paid online is that it's much cheaper than Sony's or Microsoft's. They're still dicking us like everyone else, but at least they're using a little lube.
Charles Hughes
This is such a load of shit. They shipped 70% less in April than they did in March, they have no idea what the real demand situation is because they're supplying far under it. This is nothing more than hype news made to make the system sound popular so people think "it's popular, I'll buy it"
Jason Foster
>They shipped 70% less in April than they did in March Source, My Ass
Ryan Rodriguez
Yeah, I keep telling that to myself. Even as Nintendo gets more corrupt with every passing year, at least the rate at which they do is far lower than any other major publisher. It took them several years to introduce DLC, an additional one to introduce Season Passes, and now, after several years, they caved into paid online. Whatever shit trend that Sony and Microsoft come up with next, at least we can rest assured it'll be another 5 years until Nintendo learns of it and adopts it.
Levi Reyes
the lesser evil so far
Lucas King
They literally paid extra to ship in units by air. Even though it greatly cuts into their profit margins. Just to try to keep up with demand.
Bentley Torres
Nintendo has ip worth more than the church. They just need a reasonably competitive console to run it on. N64 was hopelessly uncompetitive with expensive cartridges and no games for the first year of its existence. Gamecube, same fucking deal. They didn't actually deliver that golden ip for the first year of its existence and they couldn't into the internet. With the switch, nintendo learned from their mistakes. They are releasing a steady stream of games through the year and the hardware is reasonably effective with decent performance, decent online service, and portability.
Christopher Baker
Absolutely love the switch. I haven't been this excited for a console since I got a GameCube. I loved the GameCube and have no doubt the switch will be 10 times better.
Xavier Cook
I'm completely fucking floored that this is performing as well as it is.
Zachary King
I want a good chibi-robo game, not some 2.5d platformer bullshit
Levi Scott
Don't forget the 50 bucks annual online fee to continue playing MK8 and ARMS, good goy.
Jack Morgan
It's gonna be Pikmin 4
Robert Ward
>2 joy cons - 100 dollars >console comes with two joy cons Leafs are retarded
Asher Russell
>the only consoles that have been successful have been cheap underpowered consoles >Nintendo should make an expensive Xbox 360 2.0 like Sony
Grayson Hernandez
I meant >the only Nintendo consoles
Lucas Baker
I enjoy playing on my Switch. It's the best handheld ever produced. Did anyone ever think the Switch wasn't going to sell? I mean 13 Million bought a Wii-U and 60 Million a 3DS. They are going to grab at least 30 Million buyers and get into Xbone territory.
There's also a steady stream of new games coming out
Mason Williams
This lie was spread by retards at IGN for some stupid reason and I cant believe its still around to this day Yes he is permanent
Hunter Richardson
I wonder how long can the zelda meme carry this no games machine.
John Collins
>Nintendo should make an expensive Xbox 360 2.0 like Sony
You mean the fastest selling console of all time, which also defeats your initial premise? Yeah, do tell us about it.
James Reed
>Zelda meme Keep that Salt flowing
Logan Walker
The mario kart meme is out you underagememeanon with your memewords
Aaron Richardson
The best selling Nintendo systems (NES, Wii, GB, DS, 3DS) have all been cheap, weak systems
Jack Kelly
Salt for what? Anyone with a PC can play this thing with way better graphics and performance than the switch and it's also on the wii u. Are you really gonna gloat about some multiplat?
Jonathan Price
I meant >cheap, weak, gimmick systems
Ayden White
And they sold because of third party support and the Wii sold due to the gimmicky fad it introduced.
Jose Miller
>NES, Wii, DS, 3DS sold because of third party support Well meme'd.
I really bought a Wii for Call of Duty! EA Battlefield on DS was a best seller!
Robert Cook
Because third party support = battlefield, right, you fucking idiot? And you bought a Wii for wagglan, just like every other soccer mom out there did.
Christian Ramirez
>you bought the (NES/DS/3DS/Wii) for Nintendo games Yes, and like that the "YOU NEED THIRD PARTY GAMES!" died.
You defeated your own argument
Grayson Moore
I'd rather it hadn't been as successful as it has been.
Hudson Thompson
Too bad.
Jose Flores
Guess so.
Adrian Price
lel ok, sure thing, i'll get the last laugh though when the PS4 continues to outsell it. good luck catching up to the 60 million PS4s sold. seriously, go ahead and screencap this, the switch will never catch up to the PS4. Never. I'm 100% positive about it. so shitpost and enjoy this fake news by these glorified marketers that call themselves journalists, keep pretending that the switch will continue to sell. I'll get the last laugh. 100% guaranteed.
Andrew Ross
>top 10 best selling NES games >all Nintendo first party
>top 10 best selling DS games >all Nintendo first party
>top 10 best selling Wii games >all Nintendo first party
>top 10 best selling 3DS games >all Nintendo first party
>Nintendo needs third party
Camden Bailey
Who cares about third party support on console? Their games are shit anyway. If anything I'm going to play pirate the same games on PC.
Robert Flores
At this point, the only thing that'll do harm to Nintendo this E3 is how long they decide to focus on Mario+Rabbids, if it is a real thing. I hope we see MHXX localized for the West in the presentation.
Jackson Kelly
>i'll get the last laugh though when the PS4 continues to outsell it
Laughing for what? Rich yakuza men getting richer? I get you're a Sony shill but jeez, you talk like you have stock in Sony.
Jackson Moore
It's 20 bux tho
Austin Hernandez
oh fuck off as if these threads weren't also full of obnoxious nintenbros who would defend nintendo to the death
Tyler Hernandez
You know ? This is odd.
All fast selling consoles in the first year, didn't stand the cut of time, and in the long run sold less copies compared to "low sales" systems.
David Kelly
The PS4 selling well is why you have to pay to play online. The PS4 selling well is why they increased the price of PS+, making it even more expensive. The PS4 selling well is why all the PS+ instant collection games have dropped steep off a cliff in quality. The PS4 selling well is why the Vita is no longer supported by Sony.
Sony not having any competition was the absolute worst thing to ever happen to any Sony fans.
Adam James
>Nintendo say their motto is "leave luck to Heaven." >Iwata died, went to Heaven and MADE THEM UNDERSTANDU >Nintendo suddenly blessed with incredible luck
Iwata's death was planned.
Chase Reyes
>Iwata and his army of amiibos buried with him arrive at heaven
Gavin Myers
so this is what unfiltered yet pure salt looks like. amazing
Joshua Cook
>as if these threads weren't also full of obnoxious nintenbros who would defend nintendo to the death >who would defend
First, two wrongs don't make a right.
Secondly, Nintendo is a strong company business wise but critics are still pretty vocal against their products. People who enjoy Nintendo games feel like they have to promote their way of gaming or else it's going to end.
Thirdly, Sony's console division is stronger than ever. There's nothing wrong in promoting more competition.
You seems to be pretty young. I suggest you to invest your life in something better than games and Sup Forums. I'm totally serious about that. Invest your time in something more constructive or else you're going to regret it for the rest of your life.
Asher Cook
I think you guys are overestimating the Switch. Here's a bit of a history lesson for you:
N64 Launced im Japan at $250, with a revolutionary game in the likes of SM64. A sweeping success. Nintendo couldn't keep up with demand. Production was ramped up. It launches in the West 6 months later, WITH a price drop to $199, sells insanely well. N64 is a massive success being the most powerful 3D console in the market, priced the same as its competition. It beat out the Saturn which quickly fell off the radar. Making it a two horse race between the PlayStation and N64.
Lifetime sales of both consoles.
PS - 100 million N64 - 36 million
To say the N64 was a failure shows you weren't around for its peak. It was only a failure in hindsight. It's the same for the Switch, it's doing really well now, but... so do all Nintendo consoles. They do deceptively well for the first year. The Switch already shows signs of the same shortcomings many Nintendo consoles tend to have, and then some.
Zachary Cox
>The Switch already shows signs of the same shortcomings many Nintendo consoles tend to have, and then some. sure "intellectual" user, list em
also if your only approach can be comparing sheer numbers, dont try to pass as intellectual or cultured when you are this stupid
James Reyes
>The PS4 selling well is why you have to pay to play online. You pay for online too. >The PS4 selling well is why they increased the price of PS+, making it even more expensive. It's still $50 a year for me. >The PS4 selling well is why all the PS+ instant collection games have dropped steep off a cliff in quality. What? >The PS4 selling well is why the Vita is no longer supported by Sony. Let's pretend the WiiU wasn't dropped by Nintendo, ok.
>Sony not having any competition was the absolute worst thing to ever happen to any Sony fans. And what's Nintendo's excuse for treating it's fans like shit?
Brayden Wood
that would make me buy a switch intermediately.
Ian Sullivan
>You pay for online too. No I dont >It's still $50 a year for me. good for you, they still raised the prices out of sheer Jewishery >What? what part did your brain failed to understand?? >Let's pretend the WiiU wasn't dropped by Nintendo, ok. WiiU got a legit successor, VITA was left to die in a gutter fer not for weeb devs in Japan
Joseph Richardson
get your wallet ready, it's already known.
William Myers
Well, how about the lack of proper 3rd party support that plagues every Nintendo console? Or how about it being an inverse of the 64, being LESS powerful, and MORE expensive than the competition. How about it having gimmicky hardware to compensate for it's lack of power. Or how about the fact that you now have to pay for online, when very few games use it, and you have no Miiverse, or Voice chat, or quality connection, or Ethernet port. Or how about the fact that half of the 1st year lineup is made up of WiiU ports?
>but those d-don't count They do in the face of competition, on fact, the first two have in fact for 6 generations now. These are all factors that will hurt the Switch in the long run. Literally EVERY Nintendo console is a bombastic success at the start. If you weren't underage, I wouldn't have to explain this to you. I know the Wii was your first console, but Nintendo has been around way longer.
Chase Thompson
>all these lies
Caleb Powell
>Work in merchandising in best buy >Switch launch units were 40 grey and 10 neon units >Neon sell like hot cakes greys didnt selll for shit >New units arrive last week all of them are neon >We still didnt sell the grey ones >Mfw i find out nintendo fans are literal autists
Logan Martin
>how about the lack of proper 3rd party support that plagues every Nintendo console? Sup Forumstards in general seem to misundestand 2 basic issues
Nintendo dont need 3rd party support to survive, 3rd party would be the last push for total market domination
2) you dont need 3rd party, most games are trash. you only need the 4/5 yearly rehash from EA or Activision and GTA. any other 3rd party game is trash. but non, what would nintendo do without such gems like Prey or (insert generic shooter CoD wanna be)
Colton Walker
Welp, then its time for some pikmin porn to lessen the wait.
Ryder Cruz
location of your best buy, now
Jackson Sanchez
I really don't understand what the big deal is. If you want the neon joycons, just buy them separately. That's literally what they're for, so they can be interchangeable.
Charles Richardson
>lies Is the Switch getting: FFXV FFVIIR Red Dead 2 GTAV Fallout 4 Dishonored 2 Doom AssCreed Battlefield 1 CoD WW2 Quake Witcher 3 Tomb Raider Cyberpunk 2077 For Honor Shenmue 3 Guilty Gear Xrd R2 Blazblue Central Fiction Mass Effect Andromeda KoF XIV Street Fighter V Titanfall 2 NieR Automata Dark Souls 1/2/3 etc...?
Adam Roberts
>all that western trash/rehashes what a loss
Luis Butler
They don't need it to survive, they need it to succeed. Nintendo will always SURVIVE purely out of fanbase autism.
Luis Young
That's what sells consoles, congratulations. Without it, expect sub 30 million lifetime sales.
Gabriel Miller
The reason third partys don't like nintendo isn't it because they need to compete against the first party nintendo games? I mean, just look at the best selling PS4 games, only 1 Sony first party game is in the top 10 and is not even in the first place.
Brayden Mitchell
I read somewhere that PS4 has only sold 5M units in Japan and 55M in the rest of the world.
That's actually fucking insane. What the fuck is wrong with the japs? They have SO MANY developers but like, fucking nobody buys the consoles.
Samuel Sullivan
>they need it to succeed >29 out of 30 years being pure profit >0 debt >legendary acclaimed tier IPs >theme parks and currently their higher market value since 2010. if that is not a sign of success for you then I dont what it is
Bleed 7 Billions dollar, so that your next attempt jews out the online service to the point, Network and Onlines makes up 50% of your profits while Hardware and Software together barely fill up the other part
Jacob Smith
That, and the fact that Nintendo still treats 3rd party like shit.
Remember all that marketing they gave to W101 and Bayonetta 2?
Landon Morgan
So, are you a shill, or do you just wanna shitpost about console wars? What's the point of even making this thread about how well the Switch is selling, if the moment you get btfo, you move goalposts into profits?
"Profits" aren't gonna net you more games on that brand new Switch you bought, you know?
Christopher Edwards
>Remember all that marketing they gave to W101 and Bayonetta 2? >dedicated spot at E3 >Dedicated Direct >Paid for em whats wrong with it?? not enough Zeros in teh marketing budget
>still treats 3rd party like shit. Nintendo Threat 3rd party how any company should, 3rd party should be like Passenger in your car, make the ride funnier but you still at the wheel
Sony and M bend backs and give free blowjobs to 3rd its cause S and M personal IPs sell like trash in comparison to N IP (within their respective hardwares). without 3rd party, PS and XB will out right die.
Nathan Taylor
>w-what are you a shill? >profits don't matter!
Mason Flores
>talking about switch >user changes topic to N64 >user get told >user proceed to complain about success >user gets even MORE TOLD >Y-you are just a shill!!!! fuck you
Caleb White
Why those Sony shills pick on Nintendofags so much? What's their problem?
They behave like those church closeted faggots that go protesting gay pride with hand made signs. Sony owns the gaming market yet they feel the need to go picking on them. So what Sony shills? Are you closeted Nintendofags? Like you want so bad to play Mario but keep memeing yourselves into thinking the right thing is to like Crash?
Kevin Garcia
all consoles in existence have good sales in their first year means jackshit
Liam Murphy
Fuck off nintwelveyearfuck piece of shit.
Brody White
If you fucking gullibe retards keep buying it, sure. It's selling like hotcakes in murrica so probably.
Noah Moore
>all consoles in existence have good sales in their first year What are PS3, VITA, 3DS?
Adam Hill
They don't matter to me, I care about games. I want the Switch to be a great console, and for that to happen, it needs to sell a lot of units so it gets many many games. If you cared about games, you'd listen to what I say, instead of coming in here, bragging about initial hype, and then falling back on "profits" when people's concerns are voiced.
Clearly you don't. Thus, you're a legitimate paid shill, or a retarded underage fanboy with too much emotional investment in a multinational corporation.
No comment. I can't believe people who weren't around for the SNES are allowed to post now.
Do nuNintendo fans just have defective brain cells or some shit?
Brandon Taylor
>I can't believe people who weren't around for the SNES are allowed to post now. dont talk to me unless you played the NES underage trash
William Powell
Fuck off shitposter, go kill yourself now.
Blake Reyes
NES was my first console. Got it with Duck Hunt, Top Gun, Streets of Rage, Super Mario Bros, and some game that used that big white Twister Pad looking thing.
Parker Young
I'm worried about what they'll do after year 1.
I'm scared I'm gonna be treated like Wii U owners and get two large titles a year which if they aren't good or not my taste it's basically a dead console for a year. I really hate how they treat indie titles as well, incredibly expensive for what they are which discourages me from playing them on the Switch even though after the Vita it made me really enjoy the ability to play indieshit remotely or on the go.
Alexander Ortiz
>378416715 Wew lad you salty as fuck.
Chill for some moments and do what said, it seems you really need it.
Jayden Evans
Mate the Wii U was dead within 2 months. Sold over 3 million then cratered, selling just 7 million more over 5 YEARS. The Switch is on track to nearly double the Wii U's lifetime sales year 1.
Tyler Smith
WiiU sold 13 million total. It's sold roughly on par with the Switch thus far.
Juan Long
why does that Yakuza guy always look so mean?
Ayden Murphy
Sounds like he touched a nerve
Camden Evans
The Wii U got treated like that because Nintendo chose to support the 3DS. Now Gamefreak are the only devs that haven't moved on to Switch.
Oliver Powell
Japan work like dogs and are OK with 3 hour commutes. Sounds like a miserable existence over there.
Home consoles aren't trendy anymore. I mean the Vita does well over there.
Anthony Murphy
>Anyone with a PC can play this thing with way better graphics and performance
No portability
Matthew Butler
Switch hasn't even sold 3 million yet, what are you prancing about for?
WiiU sold 3 million in 4 months. Switch is 3 months in, and it hasn't hit that target yet. It's not doing considerably better than WiiU, and considering 3 mill is your supposed drop off point, there's no point in bragging so soon.
Ethan Campbell
>playing games in public Manchild, please. Some of us have images to keep up.
