He doesn't own a VR headset yet

>he doesn't own a VR headset yet

>he doesn't own a Switch yet

Didn't VR die out?

Nope its the future

It may be the future, but not a near future
Still too early for actually decent vr games

What games are worth buying?

My cousin has the vive and there are no games. We played Onward a few time, we completed Rick and morty which was short as fuck. Its honestly a big waste of money unless you really like shooting fucking bows and arrows.

LOL

I can just buy a bow and arrows for less, archery ranges exist.

...

I know, vr is complete fucking garbage right now.

All VR divisions have been downsized. Almost all companies have realized that no one really cares about it and while the tech is getting there, it's too cumbersome, expensive and makes you look like an idiot and that upsets people. Turns out Nintendo was right about VR being pretty anti social.

XD

>good games didn't come until the fourth generation
>somehow he's wrong for not wanting to buy the previous three

Seriously though it's still way too expensive for what I'd get out of it at this point since it's basically just tech demos. Plus it's way too early for it to really be good for gaming since the technology isn't all there yet. It's just a screen with a gyroscope you strap to your face, and supposedly there isn't much you can do with it without causing motion sickness.

eh to be honest psvr my first vr game resi7 made me go from "ughh even psvr is expensive glad i already have a ps4" to "holy every, every fucking game from now i want every fucking game like this"
to me jump was bigger much fucking bigger than 2d >3d. But now there are no fucking games where is the next "resi7" sony?

maybe if the PS5 has mandatory VR and comes bundled with it, at the moment, no

Someone finally turned this meme into something genuinely tragic and it only took how many years?

>tfw almost fell for it but got a refund
feels good

>people in the future will have retarder hair

it's the future for porn

The porn and Gorn/DrunkenBarFight are amazing at satisfying ID in a primal kind of way. Other then that all you ever come back to after a tech demo is a few dope space simulators, serious sam, milsim and gunsim. Hover Junkers is getting an Oregon Trail mode that I'm hype about however that's really all there is.

Basically unless you're an artist (ie: painting) or understand the basics of Unreal4/Unity you're not getting your money's worth right now. For casuals I highly recommend waiting till Q4 of 2018 before you think about swiping that credit card.

Sup Forums, when will gaming be like my chinese cartoon sword art online? :3

>That strawman

As soon as it can jack into your central nervous system, which is like 5-10 years away.

You can play safe sword art online clones in about a year or two, there's like 6 of them in development.

I don't get the original one.

If only.
It's be great to be the first to die from VR being too real to handle.
Probably a heart attack from some horror.

a few minutes in ms paint.

VR is dead on the PS4. So VR is still expensive as fuck.

I think the problem is they haven't figured it out how to make VR games, almost all are just shitty mini games or first person shooters where you teleport around the place and that's dumb. And in RE7 is just to move the camera.

There's no point in making VR games since nobody owns those fucking headsets, why develop something for such a tiny market.

Well, yeah, have you never seen cyberpunk? So not schway

VR is stupid. Even archaic games can be immersive without relying on that shit since the player isn't thinking with their thumbs. There isn't a disconnect telling them, "Move thumb up to advance character," they're just thinking advance character or even explore area. With VR you remove that disconnect and receive diminishing returns of immersion. In a 3d adventure game, it doesn't break my immersion to get walled off by something somewhat trivial whereas VR is constantly testing my immersion without true 1:1 feedback. Not to mention VR is a shitty novelty and isn't made for people who see vidya as a hobby. No matter how good VR gets (barring the matrix levels), it equates to a roller coaster in terms of entertainment. Needing to stand, wearing something on your face, excluding company, and just the amount of effort it takes will never match the simplicity of picking up a controller/keyboard and playing for twenty minutes or twenty hours. Call me lazy but one of the main reasons I didn't play the Wii as much as my other systems was because I had to worry about the hassle of finding my sensor bar and aiming at a game even if I wasn't going to use motion controls. Any deterrent makes it less desirable which is why I prefer getting PC versions as I don't even have to go to my living room. Until it's completely effortless, it should be reserved for pseudo field trips to Grand Canyon or the Sistine Chapel.

So you would play the same rehashed shit then innovative tech that changes the way we play games

10/10 easily the best edit I've ever seen

New != good
Old != bad

What we have now is fun. VR is not fun. Maybe that will change in the future, but for now, that's how it is.

Is the point of this comic that VR will never be good in my lifetime and even the future promises will fall short of expectations so I should just give up? The guy is obviously not just stubborn since he was willing to admit it when VR finally got good games after it was too late. That seems a bit overly pessimistic. The biggest problem now is that no larger developers are supporting it. This should improve once it gets cheap enough to build an user base large enough to make game development worth the effort.

>it's another vr thread where people who have never tried it say it is shit

Can't wait for fallout 4 vr and all the vr e3 announcements. Any VR bros hype for the breach it! (R6:siege clone) release tomorrow?

>vr isn't fun
How to tell someone has not tried VR.

Maybe if you consider google cardboard or gearVR real VR.

Try a shooter on the vive and tell me you didn't enjoy it. even my fat fuck friends love it.

>VR will only be good in 30 years
>why don't your own a vr headset right now?

You just sound like a lazy prick. Small shit that breaks your immersion already exist and they're no worse in vr.

You can tell you haven't tried any decent vr from that paragraph.

>How to tell someone has not tried VR.
How to tell someone regrets wasting their money on VR.

>800$
>expensive

Literally just worked a few extra days and i had enough to buy one. Maybe if you weren't such a lazy NEET sub-$1,000 amounts wouldn't seem so huge to you.

So VR finally became fun after he died? What a sad tale.

...

>YOU JUST HAVEN'T TRIED IT
>YOU'RE JUST TOO POOR
Can I have another strawman?

could i have proof either are untrue?

wireless headsets with at least haptic gloves are the exact thing i'm waiting for and putting it in a comic doesn't make it wrong

plus by then a 360 treadmill will probably be cheap as shit too, so we'd have the perfect setup already

>tumblr memes
kys

>EVERY WAKING MOMENT BRETHEREN

how come the guy playing VR didnt age and die?

Also this whole comic assumes all this will happen when we are still in the first panel, and most people aren't sitting happy with their headsets. They're bored in REC ROOM and boardwalk shooting galleries.

VR will be fantastic but there so many issues with this comic.

you fucking son of a bitch
i should take a break from this shithole

I think you go to car parks on the weekends to suck the smegma off the dicks of strangers. Care to prove me wrong?

arguements without evidence can be dismissed without evidence

VR is shit, and you haven't managed to sell anyone on it yet

if you're actually trying, try harder

I'm pretty poor, never tried VR headset, how is it? You really feel in the game? What about user with glasses?

>posts the same webms every thread

My evidence is that i own a vive and i demo it to a lot of people, never had someone say it wasn't awesome.

You got me.

The vive adjusts to fit glasses, the rift im not sure. It's definitely immersive, you'll feel a real sense of presence in the world and the hand tracking on the motion controllers is fantastic. As long as the dev of the game adds appropriate haptic feedback you can get really lost in a fun vr game.

I can't make more because i got shot while buying groceries a couple weeks ago and now im posting from my laptop.

Real vive owner here: you got lucky about the glasses thing. I can hardly use mine because of it and need to get prescription lenses for the headset itself.

This comic is retarded because we're not even in the second phase (cheap, accessible tech) yet like it assumes we are, and it also implies that you must bite the bullet on the shitty first gen technology just because it could be better later, or else you're a bitter stubborn faggot.

I don't see anything wrong with what the man says. If anything, this makes VR tech look worse because it doesn't become efficient or have decent games until decades after the initial stage that we're still in.

If I can't view up skirts properly, what's the fucking point?

Viver here, it's collecting dust! Fuck mini games!

>real vive owner here

Yeah same

I'm so sorry you have that desk, I feel your pain.

I got a nice solid oak one to replace it, that one is flimsy as fuck.

There isn't much to it, just that he is bonding with his daughter over a video game.

I believe he went on about how great it was that there was a female redhead lead for that game so his daughter would have a role model to look up to etc etc.

>I can't make more because i got shot while buying groceries a couple weeks ago and now im posting from my laptop
where the fuck do you live user

So VR didn't actually become any good until after he died? Its not like he could do anything about that, is it?

Well the guy playing VR never ages at all so apparently playing VR games somehow grants you immortality.

Once we get past the "No games" stage, I'll definitely get one. But thats a tough hurdle, VR games are expensive to make. I hope it works out, I really wanna play a full length game with at least some depth in VR someday.

Chicago

>dorkly

Move away from that shithole dude

Man, Dorkly is such a garbage fire.

This is where the company i work for is based. The work is fun and i got my vive for free for work.

>All VR divisions have been downsized.
Source?

He has none. Closest is oculus firing their worthless vr arts division.

I might when it gets cheaper and some good games.

Nigga you can play with a girls ass in VR and she reacts to it

Cross-platform with vr and non-vr players should be a thing. there aren't a ton of advantages/disadvantages and it would be cool to see vr player movements in arcade shooters like CoD or CS:GO. Even if it was just in the casual gamemodes it would be neat.
