I thought it was funny that some anons actually referred to this as the Dark Souls of the third generation. Almost everything back then was "Nintendo Hard." That was the common standard to ensure people got their money's worth by not being able to complete a game in under 10 minutes. The only thing that really set Zelda II apart from the sea of existing hardcore platformers was its incorporation of RPG elements and an overworld map.
