because the sequels are garbage, there is such a fucking huge gap in quality between the first and the second game probably done by completely different teams
first game was horror, second and third cheap TPS
Fantastic. We're starting off a great thread with hyperbolic shitposting.
Well I was an ugly kid but I can say with certainty that I'm much more attractive now. Time does things to people
DS2 Isaac was the perfect balance between everyman joe and rugged handsome hollywood dude.
The other two veered off too far into the the other directions.
I'll never forgive EA for what they did to Dead Space
Shut your whore mouth DS2 is great.
agreed, though it's just kind of weird how he gets better looking after what he's been through. Like he's gotten younger, it almost looks like his hair was receding in DS1.
IT'S THE BEARD
>DS2 is great
someone likes to dive head first into manure it seems
He's right, 2 was a trash horror game. Decent horror themed TPS but not my cup of tea
>they got rid of the violent deaths in the sequel
Why?
DS2 was more brutal than 1 though.
Nope, most death animations just transitioned straight to ragdoll mode, which looked fucking funny by the way.
you know what pisses me off, we still don't have an announcement for a fourth game. They give us Dead Space 3, which literally no fan wanted, get shit sales, and then bury a fantastic horror game and give no fucks.
After the steaming piling that was the third game I'd rather not have them make another. The first two were perfectly fine.
at least we have the sequel to Gone Home developed by former Dead Space and Bioshock developers.
Insanity makes wonders on men while it deteriorates women
Looks kind of cool except for the bitch who won't shut the fuck up. Seriously, talking protagonist in horror games is the worst.
Talking protagonists in any game are the worst.
This. Only normies prefer DS2
Kill yourself.
>I liked Aloy never shutting the fuck up in Horizon
You first.
Dead Space was always action oriented. Did you think you were playing Amnesia or Alien Isolation? Hell it wasn't even comparable to the old Resident Evil games or Silent Hill 2. It was just in more enclosed corridors and we have better gunplay in 2.
>I'm tired and my feet hurt
>be scared
>HURR DURR
DS1 = Alien
DS2 = Aliens
>hates talking protagonists
>won't stfu
lmao gay boy
Nah, his jawline is more pronounced in the sequels and his hair came back that's why.
Fuck you and fuck this shitty meme that pops up everytime anyone want to talk about Dead Space.
It didn't change genres, It didn't change from Silent Hill to fucking Gears of War in one fucking sequel. Get off your fucking high horse.
>It didn't change genres, It didn't change from Silent Hill to fucking Gears of War in one fucking sequel.
It changed from Resident Evil 3 to Resident Evil 4. And then to 6.
DS2 had the best gameplay. Fluid movements, environment interactions, kinesis not being shit, melee being useful. It's not like the first game was pure horror, it gets actiony pretty much as well but because the second game starts with action from the get go many people overlook it's tense segments.
Too bad they butchered everything that made the franchise good.
>that dude on left
agreed user. I feel the same exact way. First time I played DS2 I was impressed by how much better the gunplay was with kinesis actually mattering in combat this time.
i mean you could stasis a slasher and cut one of its blades, grab it with kinesis then impale it to the wall then immediately grab the other blade from it's corpse and use it to knock the 2nd slasher then stomp it to death.
Best part is that if you fuck up at one of those steps you'll get hit, but if you manage to pull it off you'll be conserving shittons of ammo which really required for zealot difficulty. The enemies in the 3rd game are way too fast to pull this kind of thing
>Nicole got uglier?
We got Ellie, I call that a fair trade.
Damn, they sure had a thing for women betraying Issac.
You could do the same thing in the first game though.
>ellie
I wish the 3rd game never happened.
How's the non-game material ? I actually like the lore of Dead Space
Yeah she aged quite a bit while Isaac gradually got better looking. She had to have been a vampire sucking out his youth or something.
The entire face is completely different.
that mechanic reminded me of shooting the leg of enemies in re4 than kicking the ganados and knifing them while they were in the ground. Shit like that made the combat in both games great.
they used the VA's face in 2 for nicole
DS2 was objectively superior to DS1. The only people who unironically believe otherwise are Doom faggots who think brown and shit on everything ever is good.
wrong. While technically possible, thrown projectiles via kinesis deal minimal damage which makes severing limbs almost impossible with it unless you already damaged the said limb. In a similar fashion, stomping deals almost no damage and compared to the second game it's too slow and you have to end up stomping quite a few times to actually get a kill.
I mean you can do it with few stasis charges but it's not really cost effective in the first game
>While technically possible, thrown projectiles via kinesis deal minimal damage which makes severing limbs almost impossible with it unless you already damaged the said limb.
But that's just plain wrong, I did a plasma cutter only run on impossible in the first game and kinesis was hugely helpful.
meleeing was also complete garbage in 1, and yeah I remember the stomps being pathetically weak on necromorphs. I only ever used it because it was satisfying to stomp a corpse desu.
Pretty sure the first game was more like Resident Evil 4 given the less agile control style, but heavy focus on shooting and some ammo management.
>changing suits

This still feels magical, how did they manage to do it ?
Dead Space 3 isn't really a bad sequel at all
I actually almost finished it, but the last part just dragged on for me
Loved the snow level, don't tell me you didn't love that fags
The open nature of the space section was also something new and I did liked it, it rewarded exploration
Overall nothing in DS3 is awful except for the story which isn't really the focus of the series
Co-op was actually great because you get to play a good game with a buddy and even dead space 1 is an action horror game, not amnesia or something
Dead space 2 is the best tho I won't deny that
But what's so bad about DS3 really? Is it just blind hate cuz it has co-op and shared ammo?
Glad I'm not the only one who didn't like 2.
>But what's so bad about DS3 really? Is it just blind hate cuz it has co-op and shared ammo?
Because Dead Space is about being solitary in a gruesome environment where anything can jump at you at any time and having a partner does away with that solitary feeling. In Dead Space 1&2, you didn't get close to any NPCs and even when you did they were always behind some kind of window/barrier (except that one time with Ellie&Stross).
The enemies move way too fast to therefore things that made the gameplay of the 2nd game great (check ) are really, really hard to pull off. Universal ammo makes sense with it's weapon system which i'm not a big fan off, actually i outright hate it. Suits also suck big-time, with them being entirely cosmetic and looking like ass.
>Overall nothing in DS3 is awful except for the story which isn't really the focus of the series
You only say that because of how badly 3 fucked it up.
from disempowerment fantasy to a powerfantasy.
AKA death of a franchise
>But what's so bad about DS3 really?
It was the weapon crafting for me. The series really didn't fucking need it and it completely trivialized all enemy encounters once you build a decent gun.
I designed a gun that fired semi-auto stasis rounds with a shotgun underbarrel and the thing fucking destroyed everything in my path, to the point where the game became incredibly easy and all the tension was gone. By the end, I was intentionally crafting shitty guns just so I had a challenge.
Compare that to DS1 and 2, where all the guns have well-balanced strengths and weaknesses, which forced you to switch between them to deal with different enemies. Not to say the games are super hard, but on the higher difficulties you had to converse ammo and choose the right guns to use.
I don't think DS3 is a terrible game, but weapon crafting was a really fucking dumb gameplay decision.
>Co-op was actually great because you get to play a good game with a buddy and even dead space 1 is an action horror game, not amnesia or something
The game was balanced around co-op and it ruined the single-player experience because you constantly had moments where two necromorphs would appear from either side of the player and it was intended to have one player kill one each, but if you're playing solo you only ever have time to kill one and then you get stabbed from behind by the other.
Those are two small things tho
Even if you don't like them they wouldn't outright ruin a whole game, unless you really wanted it too
I swear I don't remember the story of DS2 one bit and it's my fave
I agree that weapon crafting was a dumb idea since the series didn't need it
It didn't ruin the game for me but it did bother me the most
But I don't see what you mean about DS1 and 2, the plasma cutter was the best gun for everything pretty much
I did use other guns of course but I bet my ass you could solve any encounter just using it, especially in 1
