So long as you're not on Balmung, the vg guilds are generally fine. I wasn't too hot on ZR because it just got so big I didn't get to know anyone, plus most people had been playing together since 2.0

Doesn't sound too bad to me desu. Nothing wrong with automated fairies, there's no practical difference between telling a pet to cast something and casting it yourself. Divine Seal being cross-class means there's no need for Fey Illumination. Constant Regen/Haste Aura means there's no need for Whispering Dawn or Fey Wind, and using the tether skill will be the same as spamming an Embrace macro.

They actually did bother to justify that within the lore. Eorzea's higher ambient aether levels make the magic there obscenely powerful and the Garleans aren't equipped to deal with it properly. The most they could do was plate their magitek in gold, which dampens the effects of magic.

I joined rather late into the base game-about 6 months before Heavensward and didn't like how everything was locked behind the story if you need to catch up and I'm worried it'll be even worse now.
