What open world game has the best map? I think San Andreas wins.

I agree. I love every inch of that map, and it's the best one I've ever come across.
...
shame rockstar will never make another gta again.
came in here to post this
Too bad Fagex ruined that game.
>introduce cosmetic armor bullshit
>shit like wings, too
>change armor designs to look worse
>allow players to go back to RS2, but make them start over from scratch
The anchor shape is kinda dumb but fuck me this is an amazing map.
Shit, didn't remember Las Venturas being that huge. Shame about the lack of content.
Play it again, the map is smaller than you think.
it's small but it's well designed and dense.
I just wish the desert was bigger.
You know Runescape got bought by a Chinese company, and had been changing hands left and right up until then, right? That's why the game turned into a generic Korean MMO.
Thanks, Obama.
It's not the size, but how they utilize it.
>durr. you can see the huge mountain from HERE!
Kill yourself.
There is actual stuff to do and collect unlike GTAV
I did not. It was good while it lasted, but I didn't get to do member shit until RS3.
he said best, not biggest.
Half of the map consists of empty country/dessert land and there was nothing to do on Las Venturas.
>submarine parts
>ufo parts
>monkey art (last gen)
>peyote plants
None of which are worth collecting.
>Souls fag is a retard
What a surprise.
>complaining about the countryside
>not getting an sanchez and doing sweet flips
The dirtbike is my favorite vehicle in the game
>Half of the map consists of empty country/dessert land
Which were fun as fuck to explore. Just riding a Sanchez across the hills was fun enough.
>there was nothing to do on Las Venturas.
I have to agree that Las Venturas was a bit boring, compared to the other cities. The only great part of the city was The Strip.
Damn, that sucks. I was a member during the golden years of RS2.
Runescape may not have had the best core gameplay, but damn if the variety wasn't there. I don't know why games are so dead set on being exclusively combat-based, and then not even having even remotely good combat. Give me a huge world, and some shit to do in it. It doesn't have to be deep or complex, just make it fun and varied. No game has ever made me feel so giddy for getting a piece of equipment dropped. God Wars and Barrows were my shit, and the amount of ingenuity from the fanbase are how to get there and accomplish the task was fantastic.
Looking at you, Breath of No Man's Wild.
>Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco in one map
At least GTA V got it right with just Los Angeles and Los Angeles County.
Only thing I'll give you is that Venturas was the weakest city.
>GTA V
>getting anything right
>all that countryside
>that tiny fucking desert
I am still furious
Too many goddamn mountains, boring city, desert is too small, port area is useless.
Easily the worst map. It was the biggest, but always felt the smallest
big map but poorly designed.
Shitty egg shape, botttom heavy map, big ol mountains take up 50% of the map, desert is pathetic, very few small towns.
Fun as a kid, shit now. People cried at GTA4 for not having countryside and they brought it back for 5. Surprise surprise, vast useless shite that rarely gets touched even online.
Maybe because the countryside is broken up by all the mountains.
I loved SA's countryside as a kid and I love it until today. SA's countryside rarely gets touched on SAMP as well. I might be a little suspect though, because I really like open world games. I have also never played GTA V, so I don't have an opinion on it.
I said I was going to play this game when I changed the PC
this was when the game came out
I legitimately think Watch_Dogs has a great map.
>residential area with tons of hiding places for mp
>Pawnee, which is basically mp's hard mode
>Chicago is sleek and gritty, looks especially good at night
Would've liked one or two more towns, but still very good.
Really wish 343 would bring this perfection back. Bungie really fucked the dog with graveyard, but maybe 343 would just recreate the map 1:1 and be done with it.
Old school Tibia. The map is just so gorgeous. I remember being especially fond of the dwarf city.
Such a shame what happened to the PvP. Now I feel like playing again for old time's sake. I wonder if my account still exists.
I remember some /vr/ and /vg/ Tibia threads too. I think they got a guild started in Secura. Wonder if they're still active, the threads are gone.
did you mean to post in
GTA3 has my favourite map because it's easy to memorize and rewards you for remembering everything. It's very rewarding to get a rid of a 5 star wanted level in 2 minutes.
The GTA V map is much worse than the SA map
Nah I fucked up and didn't read the part in which he wrote:"open world games". Forget I posted it.
Comfy and spooky
There's actually a reasonable amount of stuff to do in Las Venturas, it just gets overlooked because it has the least amount of story missions, which I will concur was weak. The missions were pretty fun overall though.
>there's 7 levels both up and down in addition to that
That's impressive. Is there a bigger MMORPG map out there?
Eh, Portland is fucking great but each island is worse than the last. Shoreside Vale is fucking pathetic.
I'm still mad about the lack of gangs in Las Venturas
Venturas had the casinos, the dirt bike stadium, the massive highway, the Army base on the top, the centrally located air port...
I think Staunton is the best, just really nice to look at and most of the best missions are there
Shoreside is unlocked far too late into the game
>Popular game means it's automatically bad
Can't argue with Sup Forums logic!
First it was a great map, but its nothing like Chicago.
>I didn't get propositioned for sex, drugs, a sex change, a tattoo, a asian slave, and herpies when I went down Archer road.
>The streets are clearner.
>Every one is a nicer driver.
>The game has less armed people.
Has anyone actually figured out how big this map is?
Its fucking obvious the singleplayer is lacking and that most resources went towards GTA Online.
IIRC 40sqkm.
>tfw discovered you could buy a plane ticket at the airports and fly from one city to another
>tfw the one heli with floats on the bottom that could actually land on water
San Andreas was a really neat game
Dude, the map on GTA V was empty as fuck. GTA:O was GTA V.
see
as well as
>boring characters
>awful missions
>abrupt and unsatisfying ending
>no car insurance in sp, making bought vehicles pointless
>can't enter clubs or restaurants
>unused casino, amphitheatre, and racetrack
>Fort Zancudo is only good for stealing Lazers
>main characters change clothing - no outfit saving
>Trevor can be wanted when you switch to him
>police are NO FUN ALLOWED psychics with robot aim
>boring collectibles not worth getting
>shitty "mysteries"
>no jetpack
Also the Quarry
forgot
>no ambulance, vigilante, firefighter, or burglary missions
GTA V is utter shit. A complete disappointment to anyone who isn't a prepubescent Online shitter.
There are actually 3 helis that can land on water in SA, one of them has a gun on it too.
>Akkala
>Akka
Suomi mainittu, tori, etc...
Heh, tori means bird in japanese, and Texas pronounced in spanish also translates to factory in Finnish
God damn, now I'm actually experiencing Zipf's Law for real.
I don't know what to think of language anymore...
The stretch between kakariko and that Lynel peninsula in Lanayru was fucking great the first time around
>yoga
>tennis
>golf
Might as well play Wii Sports. At least IV had pool.
>Trevor can be wanted when you switch to him
This would actually be pretty neat if the cops weren't awful
Wew really? I knew about the big grey one and the tiny one now that I think about it. Not too sure about the last though. I spent hours and hours as a kid listening to custom tracks on my Xbox and just cruising/flying in that game. A lot of people say there wasn't much to do out of the cities, but there were a lot of small details that I really enjoyed while dicking around
But, Pekka, the "x" in Spanish isn't really pronounced like an "h", and your word for factory is "tehdas".
runescape
dont care, back then it FELT big and that was the point. driving from San Adreas to San Fierro only took like 10 irl mins but in felt like 3 hours then. the low draw distance helped alot, and i hate when people playing on emulators or pc disable that and then criticize the map size
Kyl mä sanon tehas tehdaksen sijasta, lyhyempi ja laiskempi.
They will come with the private servers
A friend of mine remade outrun from NFSU2
I have fun driving Rally cars all over the map
this or hoenn is close too
From MediEvil right? It was open world?
to this day I don't know if it's called Teksas or Tehas, fucking English.
this one is way better
>hoenn
Too much water.
They already confirmed they have started development of it. Heck the last major V update is next month!
the only open-world game I've played that held my interest at all.
Really nigga?
Expect GTA VI's singleplayer to be even more half-assed.
From Deadly Premonition. Not exactly full of stuff to do, but maximum comfy.
Really wish more open world games were set in small wooded towns, it can be such a great setting.
can you think of a single ENGLISH word that pronounces X as an H sound?
Yes, really nigga.
I've heard both. What do Americans call it?
>inb4 muh bait
This map is missing the police bribe that should be above the jump at the west train station of Portland.
Horizo zero dawn
you've heard Spanish-speakers, and English-speakers talk about Texas. Think about which one of those languages has any sort of precedent for the X sound to make a H sound, and also remember which language calls it Meksiko, and which one calls it Meheeko.
I liked RDR
The snow, forest, canyon, and desert areas all blended together really well.
>all those icons ruining the map
disgusting
Get fucked, normie.
Oh god Sinnoh was terrible for me! MT Coronet should have had much more access to link both sides!
Dude I have no idea, but googling it gave me this.
>Generally the spelling with x is the Old Spanish (castellano antiguo) spelling. In the Old Spanish you'd have for example Don Quixote. This changed with establishment of The Real Academia Española, which published in 1754 published new edition of "Ortografia de la lengua castellana", which pretty much defined modern spelling. One of the changes was that the /x/ sound would be spelled with j instead of x, while x would only represent /ks/ sound.
>However, México, being a proper name is exception from the rule. In fact México is the only spelling appearing in the official dictionary of Real Academia Española. Spelling Méjico is still sometimes used in Spain, but it's never used elsewhere in Spanish speaking countries.
So Mexicans are fucking stupid, basically, and it's pronounced with H. It should be the same with Texas (Tehas) but that doesn't matter since it's American territory. How do you guys say it?
Who the fuck cares about your nostalgia when we are discussin the "best maps"?
Teck-sas
How could you possibly know that image is from Souls if you hate it so much?
Dumb falseflag shitposter.
Thank you.
Now tell me why the fuck is Arkansas not pronounced Arkansas.
I played the first Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Both are highly overrated.
Except it fucking is Arkansas
>that main landmass out of the playable zone
I hate that shit so much because any player can reasonably glide over to it, but there's an invisible death barrier if you go too far. Should've made it further out.
>spells it the same way twice
that's because Arkansas is in a part of the country where they speak Deep Southern, which is like English, only unintelligible.
Missouri is pronounced "Mizurrah" over there. And they call all brands of carbonated beverages "coke".
Because it's derived from the French spelling of a native word. Technically Kansas is supposed to be pronounced the same way, but it isn't.
