Agreed. The rest of the characters were mediocre, but Guts was really well done. I had a lot of fun with the game as a whole, despite the story mode being pretty shit. I need to go back and do more endless eclipse mode.

The finale had the same problem that Samurai Jack had at the end just a little while ago, where they both have to start the fight with the big bad guy AND finish it in one episode. It was flawed from the get go when you try to put that much into 22 minutes.

Gurren Lagann was never just about sex appeal or even well-choreographed fights (though it does shave both). Gurren Lagann was an amalgamation of everything people loved about anime rolled into one show. Giant fighting robots, over-the-top characters, hype moments where characters call out attack names, sex appeal, magic and sci-fi, cool and edgy rivals (that join the heroes party later on), drops of humor, moeshit, emotion, and a narrative that makes little sense but keeps you watching nonetheless.

Now, KLK attempted to do basically the same thing, but it falls short because it takes itself too seriously and tries to be quirky and act like a parody, almost like its trying hard not the be too "cringy" at times and in doing so, only makes itself worse. Examples: Everytime Mako does that stupid spotlight thing (the first time isn't too bad, but it gets tired by the end), the entirety of that obstacle course episode, and every time that teacher faggot shows up

I've really only put time into Guts and Zodd, they're definitely the only two they put thought into. But none were done like Guts, which I guess is a good thing. The game was probably on a shoestring budget, so it was either one really good character or none.
