Armored Core: Last Raven >Generations of hired mercenaries thriving in their environments cut down by doomsday weapon, until only one remains, alone at the top of a now-dead age forever.
Armored Core 4 >A freedom fighter for underdogs ultimately sold out, dooming both himself and the world he fought to protect.
Armored Core: For Answer >A cleanup man sent to squash both armageddon and the last hope for mankind, effectively dooming a bitter end to both.
Demon's Souls >Selfishly doom the remnants of a doomed world, snuffing out even the smallest chance at rebirth for an even smaller chance of reincarnating it.
Dark Souls >Doom world to an endless cycle of decadent slavery or a timeless age of darkness. You decide!
Dark Souls II >Everything's fucked. Slap the bitches responsible around, then embrace a cold end.
Bloodborne >Unveil horrid truths to those trapped in a nightmare while trapped in your own during a scenario difficult to ascertain what's worse: remaining or waking from it. Neither capable of bringing true solace.
Dark Souls III >Snuff all remaining light from a decaying world. True redemption lies in ultimate defeat. Teach everyone this before teaching it to yourself as all light fades around you.
Is Miyazaki the most depressed game lead of all time?
>TFW Miyazaki is the only dev alive worth a single fuck
Kayden Hernandez
The Japanese are inherently nihilistic.
Jaxson Gomez
>Armored Core: Last Raven This game is harder than every -Souls game put together.
Christian Clark
This. If asians could properly express themselves without worrying about social stigmas youd see some serious shit and Im not even a weeb.
Nathan Cooper
Actually, only Boletaria was doomed and afflicted by the thick fog of the old one. Other kingdoms were sending people in to see what the fuck had happened.
Elijah Thomas
>Is Miyazaki the most depressed game lead of all time? FYI, every Armored Core game is basically full depression mode. You're not some hero running after justice for all. You're just a shmuck doing missions that seems to bump into crazy people trying to murder everyone. Aside from 1 or 2 games (specifically Master of Arena, Last Raven and Project Phantasma) in every other game you're just some mercenary in a dying world trying to make a living.
If you want a depressing ending, read up on the ending for AC Nexus. Last Raven is its continuation. Your character fights a losing battle against suicide weapons. There's nothing you can do to win.
One nice touch is how seemingly secondary characters in Nexus become major characters in Last Raven.
Joshua Brown
Having lived in Asia and taught Asian students English for about 4 years(and part of my job being getting them to actually express their opinion) this is the truest shit I've ever read.
I mean fuck, most Asian philosophy is, at it's core, very nihilistic, just not in a pessimistic way. It's like that scene in Rick and Morty where Morty goes off about how every dies and nothing matters so enjoy life, except in many Asian countries right now the "enjoy life" part kind of sucks.
Dominic James
What are the stories of From games he was not involved in? Were the other Armored Cores, the King's Fields, the Otogis, and so on all light-hearted romps?
Alexander Hernandez
It's probably true.
AC3 had a very optimistic and encouraging ending/message and Silent Line furthered that.
Then Miyazaki shows up. Suddenly Nexus ending and Last Raven. Both have Souls-like depressing storylines, along with the other Armored cores to follow.
Logan Cooper
>unwanted coder
So this is the true power of FROM
Liam Ross
bloodborne has a rather positive outcome honestly , like you actually achieved something for the better
Aiden Parker
>that mission in Silent Line where you see the plane that fell in the opening Few moments ever hyped me in videogames, and that was one of them.
Angel Cox
Certainly not light-hearted, but they all had reasonably happy endings with few exceptions.
AC2 and 3 had good endings and those were done just before Miyazaki was hired after being a cube-locked code monkey for Oracle in the states. Pretty sure he died there, and brought the husk he calls a soul to From.
Jack Phillips
I thought the fog was spreading past Boletaria's borders?
Benjamin Thomas
Y'ALL NIGGERS SERIOUSLY NEED TO START PRAISING THE SUN ASAP youtu.be/bzJDimvPW1Y
Adrian Sullivan
Was he involved with Eternal ring and evergrace?
Those had some odd stories
Jason Roberts
>AC2 and 3 had good endings Doesn't everything in AC2 end way worse than it began? I remember the antagonist dies, but now the Corporations can now fuck everyone up unabated. Compare this to Nexus, where the Corporations are so fucked that they need to join forces, or outright disappear.
>that mission in AC2: AA where you have to fight 3 ACs Fucking framerate.
Leo Carter
I really liked reading your post and I would like to subscribe to your blog
Kevin Gutierrez
Good post
Samuel Kelly
>Doesn't everything in AC2 end way worse than it began?
Not really. Corps have more power, but you bust up a major coup that essentially frees Mars from Earth's influence.
AA is all about keeping the Mars corps in check after that.
Kayden Butler
Nobody cares about your feelings. Fuck off with your blog post
David Wood
>Talking about video games on Sup Forums (not shitposting) is blogging
The West needs mandatory Summer School.
Nicholas Gray
Fucking this, on the surface they care but deep down they dont give a rats ass about living or dying. To them its just another life chore like work.
Now that you say that, I want to see what would happen if he did touch Metal Wolf Chaos.
Mason Thomas
You are what is wrong with Sup Forums lately.
Christian Baker
>Last boss fires all the nukes off as a deathrattle, assuring mutual destruction.
Kind of worries me Miyazaki is all but confirming AC6 and has a bunch of souls game plots under his belt now for practice.
AC5 was just bleak. Coming off DS3 and BB, I expect AC6 to be about zombie pilots in a long dead world piloting ancient worn-down doomsday robots.
Anthony Sullivan
Maybe it's time for an armored core souls?
Angel Parker
You become a great one and will be the next one to pull the strings. The hunter, however, doesn't seem like a good person at all, much the contrary.
The endings seem to be: run from the nightmare, stay in the nightmare, become a nightmare.
Michael Lewis
Didn't he also make pic related?
It's a super fun happy go lucky party game about cute animals with super innovative gameplay.
Your screen is split in 2 with each character on 1 side and you use left stick to control 1 and right stick to control the other side character.
And you try to get to the end helping overcome obstacles. It's a mindfuck to play. Your brain might freeze.
Isaiah Barnes
Forgot pic.
Levi Cox
Please don't ruin my mechs.
Blake Russell
Maybe it wasn't Miyazaki but it was certainly made by FromSoftware at one point in their careers.
Mason Baker
>The hunter, however, doesn't seem like a good person at all, much the contrary. i guess that might be depending on how the player wants to erp as the hunter but i dont really see how the Hunter wasnt a good person. also its not about becoming a nightmare, its about transcending to a higher plane of knowledge, and you dont necessarily screw over anyone trying to obtain it, infact you sort of unfuck everything that went down.
Evan Powell
"When the world rots, we set it afire. For the sake of the next world. It's the one thing we do right, unlike those fools on the outside." - Clearly Miyazaki's opinion on both the Dark Souls franchise and the real world
Anthony Sanders
The fog was spreading beyond Boletaria though so eventually the whole world would be covered in fog.
Evan James
>itt autist learn that the Buddha taught all existence is inherently suffering and that Buddhism impacted Asia
Jaxson Stewart
Miyazaki is a hack and never made a truly great game except Bloodborne and Demon's Souls.
Jace Foster
Oh thank god.
Nobody ever talks about this game. I was always worried it was just me.
Fuck the Leviathan.
Christopher Foster
Wasn't by Miyazaki. He was busy making For Answer as depressing as possible at the time.
>Anatolia's Mercenary? Great! An opportunity to destroy something both beautiful AND personal!
Adam Rodriguez
Anything involving transcending reality and becoming something with imcomprehensible morality gets my dick hard. Still, the hunter in Bloodborne is generally a very rough person. For example, he knows that Great Ones impregnate women as they voraciously desire to have children. Now, from a "playing" perspective, killing all the newborns just seems to end up happening from you following some questlines, but seeing this from a "story" perspective, it's very likely the hunter actively visited the potentially pregnant women after Paleblood has risen to murder the newborns.
Obviously, he is entirely on the right on killing them, not only as an individual but as a human in general, they are a potential menace. But it still brings out the rough personality in him. Hell, the whole design of the hunt is to kill Mergo, an innocent baby.
Not to mention his way of fighting, it's brutally visceral: that's one of the main themes of the game. But when you don't look at this from a "game" perspective, and try to apply his way of fighting into a narrative perspective, stuff starts to get kind of dark when you think about some of the enemies he fights in his fighting stance.
This is something I enjoy very much, though. I'm not complaining.
Isaac Gonzalez
Buddhism and Taoism typically get lumped in other Asian cultures to establish some form of balanced normalcy.
Japan has the added "bonus" of Shintoism basically encouraging thinking about death constantly on an overcrowded hellhole of a small island with no escape. There's so many added layers mental isolation relative to most other Asian cultures.
Miyazaki should just move to fucking Wisconsin.
Lucas Reyes
>Is Miyazaki the most depressed game lead of all time? Nah Yoko Taro is.
Austin Peterson
i think you're projecting a lot on the hunter's personality on something we never even see in the game, mainly everything past the scene of becoming a squid. not all the old ones want to kill newborns, infact moon presence just did it because Gherman and the gang asked him to. and we cant assume that all the old ones want to repdroduce. also from all we know, the hunter is the only human that has transcended to an old one, and we dont know if the other old ones were at some point human or just otherworldly beings. so who knows how the hunter might choose to do things because he was a human at some point if anything you could say the humans were evil judging from their "ends justify the means" standpoint, which is basically the reason why everything went to shit in the first place. so you can largely put all the bad things on the humans that caused the whole shitstorm because of raping a squid whale, abducting children, doing horrible experiments on humans, fusing moldy blood into all its citizens, etc, and the old ones were just simply beckoned and in a way tried to help to give them knowledge. also the hunters fighting stance seems rather reasonable considering that you have to acquire blood to get stronger so you have to go full edge mode, let alone the fact that you're fighting hyper werewolves and shit theres also the trophy for the secret ending saying you will lead humanity through a new beginning, so at the least the hunter decided just to take the opportunity and take matter in to his own hands before another micolash came along and starts beckoning random old ones by fusing a bunch of people together into a disgusting blob of bloody meat
Logan Gutierrez
why are miyazakis always sad as fuck?hayao thinks the world is doomed as well
>Project 3: A brand new IP that’s ‘something different from what the company has been doing previously’ and ‘a bit weird’.
I hope 'different' means "not depressing as fuck" and 'a bit weird' means "Miyazaki took happy pills and is making a Katamari-tier crazy funtime game"
Hunter Carter
>tfw after all these years i still remember Zinaida being fucking impossible
Grayson Ortiz
>One nice touch is how seemingly secondary characters in Nexus become major characters in Last Raven.
That just depressed the fuck out of me. All the major players like Genobee and Protag from Nexus are dead.
The world is 24 hrs from shambles, and the only line of defense are third string rookies and (You)
Caleb Cook
Nah, it will be 'different' as in "every play-through will end in a suicide attempt," and 'a bit weird' meaning "Miyazaki slit his wrists while making the game."
Jonathan Rivera
>literally Sup Forums's poster child
Holy shit
Cooper Rogers
He'd just look at Donald Trump's America and give up. Nothing is more depressing than that. If you are triggered by this, learn to take a joke you miserable fuck

Nathaniel Sanchez
>It's an insanely anime-esque game with an immensely jovial and cheery plot, constantly encouraging the player to fight past the game's inherent challenges and rewards you constantly with Advance Wars DS style peppy music and flashy UI's >Every single ending is whiplash-inducingly depressing, with each one clearly not being the true ending for the game, which begins to portray itself as hopeful, before showering you in despair, as all of your beloved comrades are painfully slaughtered in order to maintain the happiness and idealism of the world around you, with yourself being made to be the executioner >This is something that has happened with every adventuring party since the game's start, of which there are plentiful, and since the game is so cheery normally, and them vanishing off screen is usually handwaved as "I guess they gave up? Seemed too tough for them, huh?", you naturally think that they just went home
Noah Richardson
Fuck, all this talk about AC makes me want to get into the series, but there's so many games. What do?
William Foster
I guess I'm more surprised the new transformers is coming out next month. That shit better have grimlock
And I mean, I just find it odd it was still going in the 80s.
Really like 2 enough to not progress with better controls? Another Age for PS2
Want more with better controls? Armored Core 3
REALLY having fun now? Silent Line Nexus
>That was really fun! I want to love Armored Core forever! Skip to Armored Core 4 and then For Answer
>Nexus was too easy and AC4 isn't doing for me Last Raven
>I still don't hate the series enough after having my anus devastated by LR AC5/Verdict Day
Bentley Adams
Start by playing AC3 and move all the way into ACLR. Then play AC4/A, then ACV/D. You can go back to 2nd gen if you really want, but it's not really impressive. AC1 is just plain garbage, don't waste your time.
Adrian Hughes
That's just Persona by Miyazaki
Day 0 Pre-order
Josiah Kelly
ACVD is legitimately one of the most technically demanding games to ever exist. The amount of shit you need to calculate second by second eclipses virtually everything I've played before or since. Even Strategic ARPG's like Mount and Blade only demand you keep focus on a few primary details and allows the player to simply react to the rest. >Need to keep constant tabs on towers, walls, and buildings to maintain aerial climb >Constantly jumping either up the side of or off buildings, with some legs throwing you miles into the air and others barely pushing you up inches at a time >Boosting everywhere when there are so many places you can get snagged on and the momentum will staple you to the wall for a few seconds if you boost like a retard >Turning off boost in midair is a high level strategy, as is Blue-Locking and Guard Break abuse in a post-GB-buff world >Tri Defenses means that certain weapons are useless, but since most weapons have a purpose in abusing someone's weakpoint, every weapon can technically be viable >Sawas are considerably OP, but the only legs that make them broken are also insanely drainy and deplete your generator too fast to be comfortable with
Sebastian Cruz
I believed this too until one shot spawn snipe and bad netcode abusing piledriver builds.
Brody Allen
I can't possibly play through whole series so I'll just go with what this user says and see how far it gets me.
Levi Lee
AC are relatively short game user you can do it.
Aaron Smith
I recommend AC2 because that's where i started.
Nexus, Last Raven and For Answer are my favorites other than that.
Tyler Anderson
I swear I'm the only person who enjoyed Project Phantasma.
Josiah Watson
>i-i didn't ask all that money! I just want to live on the streets!

What about Formula Front?
Henry Roberts
Are you a retard or an underage edgelord or both?
Jaxon Butler
why is he so acclaimed if he's only made 1 good game and ruined 2 entire franchises?
Andrew Sanders
Shit taste. AC1 is great and far better than any of the terrible HD games. Miyazaki killed the series.
Matthew James
New Armored Core as good as 4 and For Answer when?
Isaiah Martinez
>Selfishly doom the remnants of a doomed world, snuffing out even the smallest chance at rebirth for an even smaller chance of reincarnating it How is this Demon's Souls in any way?
The Old One was an unstoppable force that consumed souls. You either put it to sleep again or become its henchman to have souls for yourself, quickening the end of the world. There's no rebirth themes.
Jack King
>as good as 4 and For Answer I'm sure there are plenty of shovelware Gundam games to meet your standards.
Aaron Perry
Not many people can accomplish that
Nathaniel Price
He hasn't made a bad game yet, that's the point. learn to read
Jace Long
>last raven >4/a >des >dks >bloodborne Learn to count to 6?
Evan Thompson
Those are the worst in the series that only appeal to autistic manchildren. Fuck off.
Caleb Murphy
But you only listed four good games.
Jonathan Bailey
Go be contrarian shitposters somewhere else.
Chase Gray
Those are all fantastic. Shit taste, my friend.
Benjamin Williams
pretty much this maybe with Icefrog.
Ayden Lewis
>take a good franchise >ruin it by removing all the depth and appeal
>hurr you can fly infinitely wheeeee so fast haha You're actually autistic and the reason why armored core is dead, fuck you and fuck off.
Owen Hernandez
No.
Angel Gonzalez
Putting it to sleep is only temporary -> you become a monumental guarding over it -> rebirth
Samuel Garcia
For Answer is only decent DeS is only decent Bloodborne is his only "good" game to date but is still riddled with flaws
Justin Mitchell
You are an idiot. And the only reason AC is "dead" is because Souls is a cashcow.
Jonathan Allen
And Last Raven...?
Logan Ward
So how difficult is Bloodborne? Not played any of the Souls games before.
Matthew Davis
it's not that bad after you get used to the movement. still mostly trial and error though, sometimes bosses will hit you with unexpected shit or you'll fall into a trap here and there. pretty much the epitome of the souls series is "prepare to die by falling of an ambush"
also be ready for staggeringly shit frame drops to sub-30 and long ass loading times
Evan Moore
Lol master race here, they STILL haven't fixed the frame drops, let alone the loading times?
