My point is more that the birds in Sonic are the size of all the other animals. Bees in Sonic are significantly smaller. I imagine all of the choosable species will be force locked to a specific height, so a bee wouldn't work.

What even counts as a "main series game" for Sonic? Pretty much every game after the first three have been in their own self contained world, separate from the rest. If you're going to count "main series" as just the games that aren't "spinoffs", you might as well be considering all arthropods to be insects because they're not squid.

There's debate on whether or not that's canon, as it provides backstory on Emerl, the main character from Sonic Battle who was also recreated after he died by Eggman into Gemerl in Advance 3, and the handheld titles (Advance and Rush) are canon because of Blaze and Cream. As well as backstory on the Echidnas and who the hell they were actually fighting in Adventure that made them wanna take the Master Emerald, and why Angel Island, Sky Sanctuady, and Hidden Palace exist. Plus the game and everything it contains was approved by SEGA.

But the only recent Modern Sonic game that is considered not canon is Sonic Boom which is in its own canon.

The storybook series is canon cuz of Generations.

All those games can be held entirely separate from the others, though. There is no interconnected world or """""Lore""""" that is consistent in any of those games. With the 2D and maybe even 3D Mario games at least you can consider them all in the same general universe. And what about the Rush games, where do those fit in? Are those considered not "canon" because they're on a platform you don't like?

I don't think Sonic as a series has ever really embraced DLC. I think Unleashed had some, but other than that all I can think of is Casino Night in Generations and that was just a pre-order bonus/pinball table.
