Why aren't you playing Elona RIGHT NOW?

I've downloaded it like 5 times and never actually started. Dunno why.

Same.

Why should I play it?

You like grinding games?
You like little girls?
You like actual freedom of choices?

Game is convoluted as fuck and I don't like the idea of having to be a pianist or w/e to be practical before I'm allowed to do dungeons.

I loved elona, but I never got into elona+. the fact that the new dev is apparently not cooperative at all with english translators after Noa went through a ton of effort to make the original fully bilingual has soured me on it.

I like none of these things

it was too confusing I started building my base then I went out to explore got killed by some bandits and quit forever because I didn't understand what kind of game it was at the time

Hey.

...

I play it whenever I have time to kill and nothing else is interesting.
Very hard game though, still a beginner but there's a lot to explore and try so that's nice too.

I'm taking a break at the 60 hour mark, kind of at a point where I'm struggling with skills and levels

I always get stuck in a grind run since I don't want to get to a boss and get shitfucked because I wasn't ready.
Instead of actualy progressing it's just a bunch of grinding and running goods from town to town.

Comfy, but I can't motivate myself to actually play the main quest even with Elonacustom putting the cutscenes back in.
I've never been to the other two continents because of this.

playing what?

I never know what the fuck I'm doing, there are too many trap options.

I already am.

Try Plus.

That's a hoax. Ano never said anything bad about English translations. He just doesn't add any; maybe he doesn't know enough English.

Seriously? You could beat all North Tyris bosses easily even in vanilla Elona. Why don't you plunge into Lesimas and go see the second continent already? You don't need to be THAT strong to kill Zeome.

Read the wiki.

Give link pls.

I'm already playing +

I want to FUCK that Chayote

What is this game even about?

You don't have to do anything that convoluted. Start with puppy cave as your first dungeon, which is mostly easy. You can also travel to Yowyn and buy a horse (Preferably not a lame one) which gives you way more survivability and speed when mounted.

Honestly though, you don't have to grind "Practical" things, but just doing 1 or 2 "Escort me to the town right there" for some easy money or doing 1-2 harvest quests for the ridiculous early stat gains you get from trying to harvest a huge crop are too good to pass up and it takes like 15 minutes.

Make character and then go adventuring in weeb fantasy land while grinding harder than a korean mmo.
Plot is ancilliary at best.

sweet

Unless you make a farmer you're pretty much guaranteed to fail the harvesting quests, though.

You don't lose much with that. You're doing them more for the stats and Gardening exp.

Are you joking? Harvest quests are some of the easiest in the game.
Even with a total scrub character you should be able to easily get the 20s of stuff you need so long as you keep trying.
You just need to have a pet to keep enemies off of you while you pick up the goods.

That's just not true. You just need the Gardening skill. You don't need to be a farmer.

No, the harvest quests are easy. The trick is that you don't want to waste time picking up all the small fruit that are near where you start. If you go to the edge of the map you'll typically find much larger crops which can finish the quest by themselves. Use the look key to check which crops are big before you waste time walking over them.

>you'll never be this guy

How long does it take to do a deicide run?

Wasn't the dev making a new rogue-like? What's the word on that

>that dedication on the rerolls to get everything just right
That's almost more impressive than the obscene grinding he must have done.
Seriously that Life value is insane. How many little sisters and music tickets did that take?

Depends on how efficient you are. I'm not a godslayer so I can't be more precise on that. 300 hour+ at least I imagine, if you know what you're doing.

It's Elin, and he said it's going to play like Rune Factory.
ylvania.org/en/elin
There are more videos and stuff if you set the language to jap.

And he's not even the strongest guy around, nor the one to spend the longest playing.

>touhou faggot

Thank fucking god, dodged a bullet, the shit i was spared from, i'd sooner be anthony burch

Too much effort to learn how to play and get mods working. I've played it once and I wanted to quit just from the tutorial alone. I know I'm going to get a lot of flak for this, but I honestly can't be bothered with this sort of thing. I don't mind hard games, but I do mind games that are hard to learn

Was that your first roguelike?

Only ever played Elona Shooter which is a really rad flash game; is Elona good?

Quite possibly, yes. I tried playing it back in highschool and at the time I did most of my gaming on consoles.

Any hype for Elin?

Because my laptop doesnt have a numpad and i think arrow keys would be strange.

I stopped after wanting to grind up 6 different low leveled pets where all the enemies I was facing were 150+.

>having more than one pet
>using pets at all for things that aren't abusing the event system
Playing the game wrong desu

90% of the controls they teach you are actually just hotkey shortcuts, like opening your inventory on a certain page rather than opening your inventory and tabbing to it. You can play the game just fine with like 4-5 buttons and the arrow keys.

Yes but you need some patience to learn.

Elona is one of the easiest roguelikes to learn. Might want to try it again some time.

I guess, but progress has been going at a snail's pace.

You can remap keys in the config file.

Was that long ago? It's way easier to raise lots of pets these days. If you do it right they can get even stronger than yourself.

...

>Not raising an army of godslayers
Besides, the later bells and a kali are still useful and carried my fairy ass beyond where I should be

Not that long, I remember making gems to give to pets so they can get training money, and had a farm to cook herbed food.

There were some recent changes that made it even easier to train pets. Some people have mentioned running around with 6+ recently.

Is riding a decent skill to use. I have 100 hours and never used it. Im i missing out? I have acess to a trex if that is an okay mount.

It's a great skill early in the game and can still be really good mid game if you have a good mount. Speed is important and it makes you a lot tankier. Once your character becomes super strong and fast it's not worth it though I feel.

Have you been increasing your own speed in other ways? What's it at right now? Do you have any AP you can spend?
If your Riding is too low you'll just get slower. Can you capture new monsters easily, or invest into the T-Rex so that his own speed can increase? If yes then you might try riding stuff and see if you like it, otherwise you might as well just increase your own speed.

Any details? I might go back to it then if that's the case and see all the new changes. I hope updating isn't a problem though, I was on 1.41.

Riding lets you substitute a pets speed for your own and gives attack penalties while doing it unless you've grinded it a lot.
It's worth in the early game, but unless you've got a really beefy pet it's more a novelty than anything else.

I think it's more a case of several small things that changed than just one big thing that made pets that much more viable. You might want to read the changelogs. If the last time you played was on 1.41, then you'll probably feel a difference in pet growth.
Just save the game in a town and make a backup before updating and you should be okay.

From what I've seen, there seems to be a few fetish-y things in this game, like pregnancy. Is there anything else (beside guro, i guess)? Like, could I make my perfect extra-extra thicc waifu? Or is this not actually that kinda game?

>and he said it's going to play like Rune Factory.
Not that guy, but that's the best thing I could have read. We need more games like that, other than stardew and some crap rpgmaker ones it's an oddly neglected niche on pc.

What is it? Where do I get it?

Pregnancy is actually an alien which will burst out of your chest and try to kill you if you don't drink something acidic to kill it.

There's fetish stuff in this game, but it's not like that and it's rather low key.
You'll be relying on your imagination most of the time.

NOPE

NOPE NOPE NOPE

It's not that kind of game, the sexual stuff is completely benign.
There is a weight and height counter though.

I don't know if I would call it fetish-y but you could certainly take it that way or role play it. You can become thicc since the game keeps track of your height and weight but it's not really graphically shown or anything. Basically you'll need to use your imagination a lot to get any sort of sexual satisfaction from this game at all, although there are certainly a LOT of really bizarre things you can do since the game lets you treat all npcs the same, like being able to breed little girls or fuck an eldritch abomination.

You obviously haven't been keeping up with the /jp/ Elona thread, or Elona Custom. Ano is pretty uncooperative with us filthy gaijin.

You can do anything in this game if you have the imagination and patience. It is highly customizable. Just don't expect it to be eroge right off the bat.

Elona is already RF-ish, so I guess he really did like the series. Which is good.

Oh, okay. Well, I can fap to numbers pretty well.
Is the gameplay any good, or is it just a generic roguelike/top-down RPG? I'll probably play regardless, but I'm just asking in advance.

But it was in the /jp/ thread itself that Ano hating gaijin was disproven. Someone digged his post about translations and Custom and confirmed that it's neutral at worst. It was just misinformed people trying to start shit by claiming he hates us.

The game is extremely sandboxy, which sets it aparts from other roguelikes. There's a ton of different things to do which can affect your progress in different ways and to distract you, like dozens of different skills, player property, catching and raising pets, owning your own stores and ranches, doing side quests, improving your gear, etc.

It plays like a rouge, but there's a lot to do in it. Like fucking loads to do.
Get ready to have no fucking clue what you're doing and to get raped by lightning hounds the moment you try and do a dungeon with a 2 digit difficulty.

Now that you mention it, I remember that so now I feel stupid. I'm pretty sure the shitstirring was intentional on the user who posted it's part.

If you get into it you can expect to expend hundreds of hours with this game. Yes, it's good.

Sounds cool. And I'll be sure to try and avoid difficult dungeons at first so that doesn't happen.
Thanks.

Wow, now that's some effort.

This game is 10/10 comfy at times.

It hasn't even begun.

track5.mixtape.moe/pnnyvy.png

It's 100% comfy 100% of the time.

didnt know you could remap keys il give it another shot once i burn through my backlog a bit. once i start i get addicted hard. farming for life

It's not comfy when you're 200 levels deep into the void and most of your pets die because a boss ninja shadow stepped all over and made everyone bleed to death.

Outside of dungeons it's a very comfy game, but when you're deep in the shit it's stress city.

I'm trying to find a good font but I hate how sometimes the text is really spaced out just like in your picture. Any idea how to fix that or is that just how it is? What's a good font to use?

Not on Steam.

ITS FREE

Man if its not on steam then it may as well not exist.

I think it looks okay if you just use Courier New, but then jap text turns into gibberish. I use Meiryo UI and it looks good, but there's the spacing problem. You might just want to test some fonts and see if anything looks better.

>this guy

Not even real steam drones are this dense.
Fuck off to some console war thread and stay there.

>There's a house bigger than the small castle now
Time to redecorate my miniature town

>Enter a dungeon and find yourself surrounded by cluster bomb rocks
>Get unlucky and almost die in a single hit to something
>Fighting the Meshera

Because it's really fun and if I was I'd only play that and I'd lose another job to video games.

>not going for the tsundere

>not going for big sis
Shameful behavior user.

Not that guy, but I kind of understand where he's coming from. Steam is THE place for PC games now, you can't deny it. So much so that its basically your one stop shop for PC games. If a game isn't on Steam, you're seriously going to have to rely on word of mouth to know it exists

Then how the hell is overwatch popular?
Steam is a store not a platform.
People need to remember this.

How do I not get a shitty sprite when riding?

You can either remove it with a dresser or put better riding sprites in your PCC folder then choose them.

I'd honestly go for the luck one, purely because its the only one here that's worth a damn on Earth
Actually fuck me, THIS is way better. I could fucking retire and be a NEET forever

...

Yacatect would hate you if you were a NEET I'm sure.

I tried downloading it but it immediately crashes when I try to start it, not even a warning, I see a white box for half a second and then it disappears, I've also tries running as administrator and Japanese locale

Did you set compatibility to Win 7? You don't need the jap locale.

Well it seemed pretty redundant since I am using Windows 7, but I tried anyway and it still didn't work

If I had the better part of a month, I couldn't possibly circle everything that is done so poorly in that image.

Weird, never heard of the game not even starting before. Did you just get the base game? Might as well try the rest of compatibility modes.

Fucking hate when I make a character with all the stats, names, aliases, height, weight, age etc. I want after about an hour of re-rolling and then I end up getting a really shitty start and being forced to start all over again with a new character instead.

I've always wanted to play, but i don't know where and what to download. Is there mods people play with or what?

I got the download from the pastebin that was posted in this thread
