I'm super hyped, can't wait to day one pirate sonic mania.

strawpoll.com/z9fzs9g

You think?

I gotta preorder the edition for the figure soon

I'm super psyched for Mania. I would like to try out Sonic Forces if i'm able but I'm a little too skeptical for a day one buy.

>mfw i'm a such character creator whore that i'm a little excited for Sonic forces's.
I know. I'm part of the problem.

Mania looks amazing and I'm not even a fan of the Genesis games. Forces, on the other hand, looks like garbage. I bet the self-deprecating faggot running their twitter was involved.

I think Forces looks bad, honestly. Hyped for Mania.

The one made by an Australian fan looks a lot better than the actual Sonic Team one.

>suddenly the twitter guy isn't /our guy/ anymore

Man, crazy how this always ends the same way.

I met the guy at PAX, I think he's pretty cool.

>Sonic Mania sells incredibly well
>Big name developers start recruiting fans to autisticly recreate what people loved about their old games
Even if it's only a short-lived thing, I'm ready for the return to classic video games.

It was alright at first because it felt kinda natural. Now it feels like they're milking this whole "meme" thing and it comes off as forced and sad.

Forces look like ass

>yfw forces sells better cause of muh OCs

By showing up the professional studio, Australians are taking their shitposting to a new level.

>tfw the PS4 themes you get for pre-ordering suck

Forces will sell better because it's a retail game.

Why the fuck isn't there a retail version of Mania? Every mildly popular indie game has a retail version at this point.

They kinda do...I am using the Sonic icon from it though.

Sanic 4 sold really well though, and it wasn't even good.

This never fucking happens. Whenever something you adored as a kid is brought back in a modern light they alwasy fuck it up. They never capture the same impression the original left ingrained. They just never get it

But somehow, twice, fucking twice this year they've pulled it off and just nailed it. First was Samurai Jack, then Mania

youtube.com/watch?v=wvD8NZN9Zsg

Be honest Sup Forums, were there any tears?

>Mania
Fuck yes
youtube.com/watch?v=wvD8NZN9Zsg

>Forces
Fuck no
youtube.com/watch?v=hY3KVTMm264

Fucking how? Did no one play the trial?

put Sonic CD on PS4 damnit

No physical, no buy.

>tfw I'm going to buy both and theres nothing the split fanbase can do about it

I got goosebumps for sure, fucking chills. Didn't tear up though.

I still didn't like how Samurai Jack ended overall, but season 5 was fun and did manage to capture the spirit. Would've been better with a full 13 episode run.

>First was Samurai Jack
Excuse me? Season 5 felt nothing like the old Samurai Jack

Character creator ruined Forces for me, but Mania will do just fine for my Sonic fix.

It was pretty great, but yeah the ending felt very rushed
all it needed was one more episode to pace it out would've been perfect

4 > 5 > 1 > 3 > 2

You and me both. I still really like Unleashed, Colors, and Generations, and Forces will probably be fun, especially if it has some of that Adventure cheese.

There can be no doubt that Mania will be the infinitely better product in the end. Holy shit, I honestly don't know the last time i've been this excited for a game. People are going to shove Zelda and Nier on that GOTY pedestal at the end of the year, but I think it'll be Sonic Mania.

I teared up during the elevator scene. That animation is just too good.

I believe

Samurai Jack Season 5 was shite m8

character creator is fine, dumb as fuck and pretty much just for autists, but might b ecool

the true cancer is bringing back classic sonic

Mania truly looks more appealing in just about every aspect. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what the point of making Sonic in 3D is, if it's a sidescroller. I guess they never really did figure out how to make these games in 3D effectively, even after 20 years.

So, what's everybody hoping for Stardust Speedway and pic related's battle?

>Act 1 is past
>Act 2 transitions into present
>Metal Sonic race stays in the present
>player goes so fast they don't even notice passing a goalpost halfway through the race
>"FUTURE!"

>1 2 3 K M
And no sign of 4, as it should be. CD's not there because it takes place on a different planet.

Surprised at how many people have actually pre-ordered. I thought Sup Forums as a whole was generally against pre-ordering.

even though Stardust Speedway is in the game?

>I bet the self-deprecating faggot running their twitter was involved.
His name is Aaron Webber and he's the main reason us fans from the West even get heard by SEGA at all.

And he's the reason why you faggots got today's animated trailer to begin with.

twitter.com/tyson_hesse/status/869612913027194881

and 1, 2, and 3K take place on different islands

yes

I feel like Aaron Webber can't say a lot of what he wants to say, because PR and advertising. But he gets it. He knows.

samurai jack was great for 3 episodes and then it just got depressingly worse and worse until its sad excuse for an ending.

Correct, but they're all on the same planet, Little Planet only appears once a year.

i don't think you know how an elevator works

It's clearly a magic elevator.

To be fair everyone seems to have forgotten how to make a good 3d platformer

>People prefer Sonic Classic Generations over the return of Adventure-style edge

I kind of hope for the ability to travel between past, present and future as a feature to appear in that zone. I imagine it will be as you say though, which is fine by me.

Would be nice if they spiced up battle between Sonic and Metal Sonic. Maybe add in some extra attacks, like they did in Sonic Generations.

4 isn't there because Classic Sonic wasn't in 4. It was a Modern Sonic game. Dumbasses.

Everyone except Nintendo at least. 3D World and 3D Land may be homogenized, but they're still serviceable and fun.

Sonic CD sucks.

>act 1
>takes place in the past
>act 2
>takes place in the future
>at the end there's a "FUTURE" signpost, implying it's actually the present (since the game takes place 20+ years after CD's initial release, after all)

You might think they're fun m8, but they're still objectively shite

But fuck did it have the perfect aesthetic

not really

Yup, which is the ultimate shame that Mania is looking to rectify.

More like that shit ain't canon any more, Mania is the new canonical follow up to 3 & Knuckles.

I was going to point out Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2, but those were both released a long time ago.

Nigger I've been waiting for Sonic Classic Generations since before Generations was a thing. Fugg off and let me be happy.

If you can watch the new trailer and not see the sheer difference in quality between Mania and the shit that Sega themselves make then it's over. All hope is lost

none of those were good.

No one likes the Classic Sonic Parts of Generation, they're only slightly better than Sonic 4.

They should really have just gone with the Unleashed Day/Colors/Modern Generations style with the OC creator, and cut the 2D segments. Or make the 2D segments play like Rush/Rush Adventure/Colors DS

Can't wait for Mania to get a 9/10 and Forces to get a 7.5. Maybe then Izuka will finally learn that physics are what make Sonic fun to play above all else.

Pffff.
>Izuka
>Learning
I'm hilarious.

Not as good as 1, 2, 3&K, A1, and PA, but still good. Just not in the same way.

Iizuka has got to be absolutely shocked at how much buzz Mania is getting.

someone says this about sonic EVERY Year.

this is the first time I thought it was possible. except the year generations came out, that one too.

Oh my, yes. It's delicious.

reminder sonic forces will be released in a time period where social media and technology will make it virtually impossible to hide the fact that you had an OC sonic character that you thought was cool when you were 12

He's calling Sonic Mania, Sonic Classic Generations because it's doing what Generations did by bringing back old levels and recreating them. Dumbass.

Galaxy 1 and 2 are the best 3D Platformers of all time because they aren't dragged down by all the awful collectathon bullshit that every other 3D Platformer dev decided was a requirement to have.

humblebundle.com/store/sonic-mania

You preordered, right?

on humble not the STEAMcuck right?

reminder sonic forces will be used by mass amounts of people to recreate their old sonic OCs anyway, because the sonic fanbase has no shame

I pre-ordered the special edition on PS4

same with mr robot

Sonic Team didn't even learn in the first place.

Bet your ass I had a shitty Sonic OC and bet your ass I'll get cheap kicks out of dragging that old shame into an official Sonic product.

Mania will still be better.

This:

>edge
It presumably has the same writing team as Colors/Gens/Lost World. It's going to be the same baby humor from those games even with this environment.

Mania is going to be 100/10

No 3D game will ever surpass Sonic Unleashed, so it doesn't matter. Forces looks ok for what it is, but extremely uninspired and dull. I'll get that one when its $20 in a month or two.

>people prefer a good game over DeviantAutist shit
Oh the horror.

Didn't they say they're going for a tone similar to Adventure?

All I see are a bunch of nostalgiafags having the same reaction they had when Sonic Generations hype season was going on and Classic Sonic return.

Let's have the fans make a 3D fangame for once that isn't filled with bad physics and oversized levels with too much space to know what to do with and have SEGA sign off on it instead of another 2D side scrolling 8/16-bit indie game.

gravity and motion control gimmicks make it pretty shit. The levels are also extremely linear and easy with terrible aesthetics. I don't know how anyone could actually think they're good

>No 3D game will ever surpass Sonic Unleashed

beautiful

Shall I redirect you to Reddit or Neogaf?

>gravity
Best Part of the game, fixes the camera problem most 3D Platformers have while being easy to move around also
>motion control gimmicks
This could have been assign to a button if it was on any system but the Wii, but is flicking the remote really that hard for you?

>levels are also extremely linear
They also have much more thought put into them. When platformers try an Open-ish World they are almost always bland and unstructured.

>Unleashed is still the only game with boost-style gameplay that doesn't feature 2D sections

Fucking hell when will it end.

>Sonic Unleashed

I'll vouch you on the daytime levels.

Sonic Unleashed really did feel like a labor of love, but I can't overlook the padding. Still think people hate on it too much though.

>Doesn't feature 2D sections.
What planet are you from? Because I want to visit and play the version you played.

The average fanbase age will find any sonic game good

Except it does. I can think of them in Apotos and Mazuri off of the top of my head.

Was there a big difference between the Wii/PS2 version and the 360/PS3 version in the Daytime levels, aside from a missing stage?

They had completely different teams behind them, I'm sure the Wii/PS2 team took some things from the PS360 team, but as a whole the Levels are much worse design-wise.

>Mania is a more colorful game than colors

While it does look pretty good, something just feels really off with how Gravity works, Sonic feels too light.
