It's fantastic if you can take time to learn it. It's mechanically simple, but the amount of ways you need to keep track of leveling etc can be overwhelming. It's a japanese roguelike

You build a character, different races get different abilities, different classes. You can do a lot of crazy shit, like summon and then capture the gods themselves. You can marry anything that moves, and the game is funny, both intentionally and unintentionally. It's fully english as well.

You have your pet following you, no? Do the quest to get the gene machine and then go to Deprhy (SW of the first town). There is a slave trader there who you can buy slaves from, and then merge with your pet to gain skills. Teach your pet cooking.
Go to sleep in your home (when you're tired) when its 9PM. When you wake up, if your pet likes you, they will cook for you. Cooking for you will keep your abilities up near great/superb.

There's like a million games on PC from the last 20 years plus emulators for most consoles. I'm pretty sure you can find something worth playing.

Yeah. When I first started Calri (above), basically the first thing I did when I knew I wouldn't die was go to derphy and get my pet cooking. Eventually I gave her pickpocket (she trains her own skills), tailoring, jeweling etc. Now every time I wake up she cooks meals that taste heavenly and crafts me very powerful armor/jewelry.

If you haven't already, play the Thief series. It's the first 1st-person stealth series, and still arguably the best. It's on Steam for dirt cheap.

I jumped back to consoles myself after being PC only for a decade.

Now I have way too much vidya to play.

I feel like we're in the era of small, indie-style releases, Early Access, and multi-player focus.

There are no huge, expansive games of any real quality or note coming out.
