Most of the difficulty comes from unnecessary item and skill bloat and barely documented parts of the game. Like strategic layer where you could potentially make a mistake that could cost you a campaign but would become apparent only a tens of hours later. With no feedback to player as to what exactly went wrong. Which is a shame because I happen to really like tactical layer changes and the depth brought by officer and AWC perk trees. Oh well, ABA2 is a decent substitute anyway
