Who's excited for Sonic Mania?
Who's excited for Sonic Mania?
Literally my most anticipated game since it was first revealed. August can't come soon enough.
It better be GOAT.
1,2,3&K and CD are the must plays right? Forget everything else?
Now that I've gotten Tekken 7 out of the way (which was a bit of a squib, to be honest), yes.
Yeah, those are the essential ones before you play Mania.
Stop posting the thumbnail, here save this.
How about save this?
Save both, I don't give shit. Just stop posting a God damn jpg thumbnail.
I'm not the OP.
The classic sonic animation makes me teary eyed like a big nostalgia baby.
So fucking good. Modern sonic design is such trash.
I was talking in general here.
It's so gorgeous.
I like green eyed Sonic.
He's just taller, really.
What kind of final boss will we get?
Not cute+cool like based Classic Sonic though.
>classic sonic gameplay done right
>proper physics
>new levels
>old levels remixed so much it might as well be new levels
>tee lopes soundtrack
>3 playable characters
>animated cutscenes or intro/outro like CD
>$20
All they need to do is not fuck up the level design and it's an easy 10/10. I hope it sells tremendously.
The couple of comic issues the guy did were amazing too.
Why do you keep posting the version with off colors?
I just love it
On Steam you can pre order it for $17.99 I'd suggest getting that version
>Widescreen
>New dash mechanic that fixes platforming slowing the momentum
Nice. Do we know what the special stages is like in Mania?
This is the blue dude with the tude I remember
Keep? I only posted it once
Not yet, but Blue Spheres are coming back in non Special Stage form.
I got the Special Edition for $60 or so with Amazon.
>Eggman's giant death mech is defeated
>Sonic confronts him in the wreckage
>Eggman is has a floating, glowing contract
>it seals itself up and vanishes
>Skeleton Satan emerges from Skeleton Hell to destroy Sonic the Hedgehog
I'd recommend playing CD before 2, but yeah.
Sonic 1 and 2 on Master System are absolutely worth playing as well, and Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble are interesting enough to invest the hour or so they last. Knuckles Chaotix is mediocre but interesting and has great music. Don't play Sonic Blast or any version of 3D Blast except the Saturn version (Steam emulates the shittier Genesis version).
it's fucking scary that no one on Sup Forums is shitting on this.
pre-ordering it and i hope it delivers
...
>I hope it sells tremendously
I don't. I hope it sells above expectations, but no more. Remember what happens when an off-shoot studio does well and its publisher gets greedy.
I hope it's a completely new special stage.
It looks like it will.
I just got Sonic CD on steam beat it but got the bad ending. Do I really have to start a new file to go back and get all the emeralds again? Can't I just start the beaten file and get the emeralds that I'm missing?
Same user
Yeah. Looks great. Will be a comfy Switch game.
You'd be surprised, every now and then you see people who shit on it.
They think the sprite isn't as good as the old ones.
Destroy the machine in each past act
It's way more fun than collecting time stones
You have to start over, but alternatively you could just destroy every robot generator in every acts past version and get the good ending that way.
New file. Selecting the old file again will just put you back at Metallic Madness.
???
I will never like Naruto running sonic
Literally the only negative I can see about the game.
I like the Sonic Riders art style of this
We played Tax's first three projects. They're some of the best remakes in video game history and all the new content was expertly incorporated. To doubt him now would be silly.
I'm thinking about preordering today, if for no reason other than the off chance it might go up in price.
My second or third most depending on perspective anticipated games this year.
I can't possibly imagine a better ending than Sonic 3 & Knuckles ending.
Those multipart boss fights in a row, climaxing to Hyper Sonic dodging meteors in space...
That's a fan game called Sonic Time Twisted
...
Since there's no room for doubt. The game's in good hands.
>>old levels remixed so much it might as well be new levels
Really user? 90% of this level is copypasted
No shit Einstein
All I want about sonic is sega genesis
the rest I don;t care
Didn't he do that in CD? Didn't CD come before Naruto?
I hope it does well enough for a single sequel and nothing more. We already have five very distinct classic Sonic games and Mania's a remix more than anything. One last fully original game, made as a passion project that incorporates elements from it all with its own unique bits, is all we need. Any more approaches Mega Man 10 levels of redundant.
I'm annoyed that they didn't upload it in 60fps. It downgrades the gameplay of an otherwise excellent trailer.
...
There is the valid criticism that they are mostly revisiting classic areas instead of only making new ones.
I hope this is the last time we see those old levels
>GREEN HILL ZONE
>FLYING BATTERY
>2D
>THESE ARE THINGS THAT I KNOW
Streets of Rage Mania next please.
That ending was pretty dope. If this game does well, I'll look forward to a sequel where they make a plot akin to Sonic the Movie.
I just wanna see Knuckles with a hat and sunglasses again.
whooo im glad, this balances the good and the bad about it.
The only thing that could fuck up is minor things like input lag, some weird twist at the end that ruins the experience, or something ridiculously dumb.
We've only seen Flying Battery two times, Green Hill on the other hand can fuck off
They should've just made a new intro level that's a mix of all four first levels.
i'm not overhyped for it but I am looking forward to that comfy sonic feel that i had once I was a child
Yeah I see what you mean
No Yuzo no buy.
>3 playable characters
>level design
I wonder if levels will have sections that only tails/knuckles can get to, like in s&k.
I'd fucking love that.
The way you're introduced to the first level in Sonic 3 is absolutely amazing and the most memorable intro to a Sonic game besides City Escape.
do you think the soundtrack will be the high quality electronica, or midi old skool
Yeah it will, its been confirmed if I remember correctly
I'm not bothered though, I'm sure it will be a great game regardless. It's clearly meant to be an anniversary game that celebrates Sonic's history.
Maybe if it does well the devs will get to make another one with only new stages.
City Escape was such a refreshing first-level. Even the Generations versions did it justice, and was probably one of the best Classic levels in that game.
It's confirmed.
They wouldn't use Green Hill if Sega didn't force it. Just like they were clearly forced to use Stardust Speedway because MUH METAL SONIC but opted for the Past version.
A better selection would have had Tidal Tempest as the water zone and Starlight as the city zone.
I LIKE
Give it just a touch of modern flair, and we've got a winner.
CD isn't actually good, it's literally a meme game. As in, almost no one had a Sega CD, but it looked cool in screenshots, the intro was cool and it had Metal Sonic, so it got a cult following of people who never actually played it.
>the Sonic Archie comic died before we could get an issue with can-can girls in Mirage Saloon
>they are mostly using fan-favorite classic levels and adding new levels on top of them
I dont see anything wrong with that.
>Remember what happens when an off-shoot studio does well and its publisher gets greedy.
We get the Prime trilogy? I hope that happens to Mania.
Of course they'd get him. Why wouldn't they? He does the ost to shit like Etrian Odyssey still which is Atlus/Sega
that or we get redundant shit like megaman 10
Is this true because this has been my thoughts forever now about CD
sonic was never good and if you disagree you can call the cops, afterall we all know that you just want to have sex with big the cat
Nothing wrong with Megaman 10.
midi cold skool, comfy as fuck
>no one on Sup Forums is shitting on this.
Except that cunt that calls all 2D Sonic games "indie". You know, the Adventure autist.
>Sonic Mania
>Mario Odyssey
>Two new Shovel Knight campaigns
>Proper Spider Man game
>Crash remakes
>AAA shit like Mass Effect falling on its ass
2017 is the good future.
That's not midi, what are you talking about?
I wonder if the classic Sonic Remastered Trilogy that was release on mobile will be coming onto consoles. Because that would be great for the Switch.
>upscaled background tiles ripped straight from the Sega Genesis ROMs
>fucking bilinear filter upscaling
Into the trash it goes.
That stale rhetoric only worked before the Tax port, bub. People who like CD tend to like it for its replayability and emphasis on distinct level design. Its biggest faults are Wacky Workbench and how easy the bosses are.
I feel like people who shit on it never played 1 very much. They have a very similar structure, and Marble Zone is arguably even worse than WW.
>wrong
>optional
Into the trash you go.
What couldn't remember what was released during 2016. The only game that was big was Doom.
>Trump sworn in ad president
>BotW is GOTY in march
>Monster Hunter staying Nintendo exclusive for another 6 years
>Yooka Laylee Bombed (switch version still isn't even out yet lol)
Good year. And it's only 6 months in
I want it to do well because it'll pave the way for other revamps of classic Sega franchises
New streets of rage would make my day
It's redrawn, you blind retard.
>Marble Zone is arguably even worse than WW.
God, this. Marble Zone does the cardinal sin of being boring as fuck. At least Wacky Workbench has (some) speed to it, and has quirky layout design that despite its irritation, is engaging. To add, Act 2 is a lot more tolerable than Act 1 (major reduction of electric wires).
