AMD is objectively superior. Cheaper, better performance, longer lasting.
If you want Intel, then phrase your question "What is the least capable cpu with the highest single digit following an 'i' that may or may not last a decade?"
AMD is the only real choice, if you're looking for honest advice. If you're looking for someone to support your outdated retard opinion about Intel, maybe try asking "If I want a shit-tier overpriced CPU, what should I get?"
install gentoo
Depends on your budget.
I bought into the G3258+750ti meme build a couple years back and it still works great on medium/low.
Last AMD CPU I used was dogshit though, an Athlon II 2.8ghz
i7 7700k
this
or an i5 7600k if you dont have the cash.
If price isn't a question, intel is still better despite what the first two brand loyal faggots would have you believe. That said, for what you get Ryzen is phenomenal and there's not that much difference currently, it could change with cannonlake.
>Kaby lake
>Win 10 support only
Enjoy your adware OS
Enjoy your wannacry if Windows 7, or nogaems if Linux, or eventual suicide if anything else.
>implying reactos isn't god-tier
Just buy a console OP, you are not intelligent enough to use a computer anyway.

I was AMD/AMD for years. I now use an i5-6500 and a 980ti. I play at high/ultra in most games at 1440p. The only game that I know pushes the limits is Witcher 3.
The i5-6400/6500 are nice because you can unlock the bus with cracked bios and get the same performance of 'k' processor, but that takes about a days worth of reading.
You don't need the best of the best imo. Get a 1070 or a 980ti for around $250. Get the processor for $180. Don't cheap out on the mobo, spend at least $120-140.
Last gen is really the sweet spot for the next 2-3 years.
I have an Intel 4460, no problems for over a year.
>i7

6th gen i5 minimum
intel for single thread performnace, amd if the game is well optimized (lol) or you also stream, but the difference is marginal, I guess you may want to go intel if you plan on emulating though.
Add another stick of RAM you goddamn cunt.
It'll save your life if one stick is physically damaged.
>What's the best cpu for video games?
AMD Jaguar
i5 or i7 if you have a little more money. Anything else is a waste of time.
no, fuck you you piece of shit
Yeah, I might. I initially was going to go with 2X4GB but the performance increase seemed pretty minor.
Mobo has got to be the part I understand the "goodness" of the least. CPUs, GPUs, PSUs are all really easy to understand and rate. But I am up shit creek without a paddle when it comes to Mobos. Could you give me some Mobo advice?
>crap cpu

The refresh rate of your monitor maxes out at 75hz you nincompoop, get at least a 120hz monitor. Also get another stick of ram you dork. And to back it all up get a gold level power unit you jerk.
just get a skylake i7 6700k
>not just buying an i9
What are you? Poor?
