Command and Conquer: Everything

something between square enix konami and ubisoft

FFXV. If Square had given the developers more time to finish the game, then it probably would've been good. Probably.

This is basically EA's MO

The others I'll give you, but MGSV was Kojima's fault.

Sonic 06 was rushed out for the holidays in a clearly beta state.

anyone have that story by one of the Rare devs of how MS shit on their version of banjo threeie and made them redo it?

Alice: Madness Returns

Your mom because I gave her the business in the middle of an overwatch round

Overstrike / Fuse

That was fake you dumbass.
I'm still mad

No man sky was rushed because of the publisher

There is probably better examples but that one is semi recent

the pachinko thing was all konami

Tenchu Wii. Terrible gameplay and shitty cliffhanger ending and no sequel. Acquire wanted the franchise dead for whatever reason

Bullshit Nomura sucks as a director and all his games are delayed and bloated.

how so?

Driv3r, of course

I'm sure there's worse examples but the two that always come to mind is Konami going full retard in general during the development of MGSV and Miyamoto going "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE NO STORY NO ORIGINAL CHARACTERS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" with sticker star

>Konami and Kojima going full retard in general during the development of MGSV

FTFY

op's pic is from witchcraft, page 57

GREAT hentai comic

This. He and Kojima are total control guys. They want everything absolutely perfect and will constantly add and change shit until the end of time. Normally this isn't a problem, since the rest of the team will eventually convince them they need to actually finished the thing at some point. But because they're surrounded by yes men afraid of their boss's reputation, no one steps up to stop them. He's the legendary game director; He knows what's best!

Evolve I'm pretty sure.

GTA V and its multiplayer

George Lucas having to stick his nose in every moment of development. Ever.

VTM: Bloodlines

Spore

disney fucked up battlefront3 (the cancelled one, not eafront) and timesplitters

Pretty much anything published by EA. The biggest offender was probably what happened with BK Nuts n Bolts. EA's corporate shitheads meddle in almost every level of game design. They've ruined countless ips.

i don't know if it qualify but sony's fuckery made the monster hunter devs run away into nintendo

also i remembere something about some major changes made on spore because of some woman being offended

Dead Space 3 springs to mind.

I never finished that, partially because I couldn't find a good guide for the map fragments.

Not exactly.
Don't get me wrong, I love that game to death, but Troika was also horrid with their management.
Activision and Valve fucked them over for sure, but they were already badly behind schedule.
It's not that Activision meddled in development, rather than the company just being its usual greedy self and pushing out an incomplete game out of fear of losing more money.

at least he let them make games
I don't think EA and Disney's ever going to do shit with Star Wars other than Battlefront rehashes and maybe some tie-ins for their movies and shows

This is absolutely tragic but true.
We'll never get a game like TFU ever again.

Please, every game from Troika was a fucking mess at launch. Likewise most Obsidian games up until a certain point were as well. I love both studios to death, buy their QA systems were a huge problem that only one of them fixed before going under.

Every ubisoft game.

if you disagree you're underageb&

World of Warcraft

Activision and the Guitar Hero series.

Didn't want to touch it purely because of how much EA stuck their dicks in it. Also wasn't keen on online only co-op.

Shadows of the Damned was supposed to be very different from what we got.

There are tons of games that were 100% finished ('gone gold') and then killed off for asinine reasons. There are increasingly a lot of games that are killed off and never playable again because of stupid reasons.

This kind of question is hard to gauge because of ever-increasing overall quality (value is subjective) - does it hurt more that some PS1 licensed game was just never released, or that some 8/10 game was obviously rushed and could have been 11/10 if corporate wasn't incompetent?

Is it really the fault of the publisher and not the developer? I can't understand putting all the blame on EA, Sony, etc. The worst I can see the publisher do is fire people on the dev team. And isn't it the dev's fault in the first place for trying to get rich by selling their company

This. So much cut content

This this this

Fuze/Overstrike

>Cut atleast a third of the game
>Unlockable gallery has chunks of it
>Still sold at full price
Fucking EA

More often that not, it is on the publisher since they're the ones controlling the dev's money, and will influence them with it.

Xenogears, hands down.

He's a creative guy who needs to be reigned in, and when he doesn't he goes off on unfinished tangents, which is what resulted in MGSV. It wasn't cut early, it was just Kojima who had absolutely no fucking idea how to end the game.

This is why you don't use 12 year olds in focus groups.

>Devs refuse to use Origin
>EA cuts their entire funding
>Studio forced to close

The right answer.

Sometimes devs try to take a bigger bite than they can realistically handle. Like this it either ends in the game being really incomplete because money and/or time and/or publisher's patience runs out, or in absolutely insane crunch.
At other times the devs notice this and scale down mid-developement so they can release at least somewhat cohesive product.

Its what happens. They are the ones giving the money, you people bitch about kickstarter all the time but at at the very least its an alternative.

KOTOR 2.

They should have just used Origin.

This. The original trailers made it looks humorous and interesting while Fuse just turned the whole thing into a 'by the book' shooter that vanished in sea of other generic shooters.
youtube.com/watch?v=43IWdsKFsUg

What about chapter 51?
You can't deny that shit wasn't cut

>you people bitch about kickstarter all the time but at at the very least its an alternative.
An alternative to get scammed isn't a good thing dumbass.

How so?

Xenogears ran out of money and they couldn't get more budget because FFVII was bleeding the company dry.

Not really correct to call it interference. It was also the correct call, even if Disc 2 had been fleshed out and had the 3-4 extra dungeons it would never have sold like FFVII did.

Nobody knows. Could be a red herring, could be a pr stunt, could be a "fuck you" from Kojima to Konami, could be anything. Kojima is never going to admit he bit off more than he could chew. Konami is never going to say the cut it. Given how often incoherent Kojima gets when he treis to juggle too many balls at once (See MGS IV), my guess is he fucked up, couldn't finish in time, was WAAAAAY over budget and still had no good plan for the ending.

Per Troika's arrangement with Valve, they had to release VtMB after source so HL2 could claim the mantle of first source game. This came well after Activision's initial release date for the game, leaving Troika with a year of downtime. Despite the team's willingness to work on it, even for free, Activision refused to let them do anything during that entire year and the game shipped with basically the last 20% or so as a beta.

I am Alive. God, that was clusterfuck.

FF12. It's why we have Vaan.

Didn't another similar game come out at about the same time, too?

>Despite the team's willingness to work on it, even for free, Activision refused to let them do anything

You are completely fucking wrong. Activision DID let them continue to work on the game while waiting for the release of HL2 but they didn't give them enough money to pay for a full team of full time workers so Troika had some employees work for free and then fired them. Troika did this, not Activision.

Also, to be fair the Activision, the development of the game was already way over budget and way behind schedule. Do not forget that the HL2 release date had been pushed back by Valve by more than a year, it was not the release date that Activision had anticipated and they had not budgeted for it. Honestly, we are lucky Activision didn't just can the whole project considering how little faith they had left in Troika.

if only it had a extra year of development

MGSV

this is exactly how they got multiple studios and IP's, including dishonored and arkane

I'd say the marketing was the pretty clear meddling that fucked that game. If sony hadn't come in that games marketing would have been peanuts compared to what it ended up as and people wouldn't have gotten so hyped. It would have come out like a sleeper indie mini-hit like it was supposed to.

Maybe Empire: Total War

Literally secluded Kojima in a small office away from his team for the last 6 months of development. They were clearly trying to Japanese-style fire him by intervening with his project. It's so clear. Why anyone would take it upon themselves to defend a corporation like konami or give them the benefit of the doubt is beyond me

That and Reflections own incompetency too

Silent Hills. Lucas Arts also rushed KOTOR 2, and wouldn't let Obsidian patch it afterwards either

That's pretty much how Activision works. They did that with Tony Hawk, they did that with Guitar Hero, and they did that with COD. We haven't seen the next Activision's cashcow since COD is declining and Destiny was failed.

Oh god shut up

Hey kid, you interested in some micro transations? Buy my other game and we'll talk.

It would be just as good as Half Life 3.

No you shut the fuck up retard Kikestarter is a scam.

Destiny.

Lol, Nomura never would have finished it moron.

No, it isn't. People are just making up bullshit now.

No one from Arkane has ever even so much as insinuated that Bethesda did anything nefarious. Chris Avellone from Obsidian flat out refuted that Bethesda tried anything with Obsidian. id was known to already be up for sale, the Bethesda buy out happened because the deal with Activision fell through. Behaviour has never mentioned any problems with Bethesda and Bethesda did not try to buy them out. InXile has never mentioned any problems with Bethesda and they never tried to buy them out.

There are three devs that have bitched about Bethesda, the hacks who made Call of Cthulhu who don't seem to realize just how crappy a developer they are, Zombie Studios who complained that Bethsesda wouldn't let them do whatever they wanted to and so they were fired from Rogue Warrior and the Human Head guys. That's it. Only one has complained of some evil plan to buy out the company which, frankly, may be a load of complete and utter crap.

i am curious if ea meddling is why mirror's edge 2 doesn't exist, but dice could be complete shit now all on its own

Probably Spore.

You are 100% wrong, and I hope you find time today to google it.

No, that's mostly on the devs if you read Will Wright's interview

>swedish dev
on the other hand
>former CEO of DICE fired upstairs into EA upper management, studio absorbed into EA and they sent in their guy to replace him

Dark Souls II could've been way fucking better if Bamco gave Tanimura time to salvage the game after the first director left

The DLCs were pretty good, bullshit co-op levels aside

Sony didn't force Sean Murrary to lie in every single interview he gave.

NMS is the perfect example of opposite of corporate control. AAA devs are bound to exact scripts of what they allowed to talk about, with NMS he answered every single question with "yeah that's in the game! *nervous glaces around the room*

No, I'm not. Baseless claims made by anonymous people on the internet is not evidence.

Everyone just really wants Bethesda to be the bad guys now so they automatically believe whatever bullshit rumor is spread about them.

Im sorry you cant google.

I just hate you OP
Also, dident spore get kinda fucked over? Or was that you Peter the liar going at it again?

An extra year wouldn't fix atrocious combat.

Those last 6 months weren't to add missing dialogue, more interesting missions, a better overworld, etc

I heard that Konami wanted the game to ship on previous genaration consoles, and that was what caused a huge mess for the team, Fox Engine just couldn't be ported to these 10 year old hardware console at an acceptable frame rate.

They say a lot of time and effort went into that, making it impossible for the game to be finished like they wanted it to.

>tfw we would have had 5 chapters and a TON of customization

Kojima may spend a lot yeah, but he is doing it for us, he wants us to have the best even though this is not what the higher ups think would bring a good profit.

They will be going to the mobile market now that they saw how lucrative and easy to produce content to it is.

Sorry you can't cite a single source

>but he is doing it for us
Every dev who spends a lot and takes on a much bigger project than they can handle is doing it for us.
If you want to make money with video games there are easier avenues for it than to undertake massively ambitious projects.
These people don't do video games for profit, they do it because they have passion for it. Sometimes they pull it off (e.g. CDPR, Larian) but most of the time the projects aren't fully realised and are left far from intended. (e.g. Larian, bless those guys)

Kojimbo may be overrated but I still hope that his studio and Death Stranding will do well.

You're a moron. 80% of early access kickstarters shit never get completed. Also, stuff that does get "finished" end up being total garbage. See Sword Coast Legends
