Reviving Crono, recruiting Magus and the Black Omen ending.
Which is the one nearly every player is going to get their first time through anyway.

Defeating Lavos on the first day.

chrono is supposed to die according to chrono cross

I wish the canon ending was the one that they crash Epoch on Lavos.
It's so much more aceptable than defeating the world destroyer that couldn't be stopped even with all the futuristic technology, just with your Japanese katana folded over a 1000 times.

The one where Ayla gets lots and lots of sex with everybody.

Chrono dies between Trigger and Cross, so he is still alive by the end of Trigger.

The one you got when you played
Canon is a load of horse shit that people care way too much about

No, the game doesn't say if he died or not. The ghost version in Trigger is from the timeline where Lavos destroys the world.

Crono supposedly dies in the invasion of Guardia alongside Lucca a couple years after the events of the original game. Not in the events of the first game.

Chrono Cross is about repairing a failed timeline anyway, so even if that was the case everything got retconned at the end.

between trigger and cross = the point in trigger when lavos evaporates him

thats why only lucca and marle are alive in the beginning of cross

Superior nippon steel is optional. Two other methods are cavewoman fists and a robot.

The credits in that version suck and you never resolve the Queen Zeal subplot, so the other one works better in execution.

cross doesnt retcon any of the events of trigger, you just say that because you dont like the fact that lynx rekt them in the most faggish way possible

Well no shit.
But Lynx killing everyone doesn't happen in Trigger and the new timeline created at the end is one free of all of FATE and the Time Devourers bullshit.

>chrono

Every time.

>the new timeline created is free of tine devourer bullshit

obviously not true or cross wouldnt have been a game

all endings with everything turning out fine are not canon

...

ayla is not for sexual

If wrong could be harnessed as a power source...

shes too pure to think like that user

Calling Crono Chrono triggers me.

the subplot only really gets addressed in cross anway

>Reject Kid in the Cape Howl
>Reject Kid in Termina
>Refuse to save her after Viper Manor
>Never come back for her after S.S Invincible
>Harle still leaves because apparently Serge only loves Kid
Fuck, what's even the point of having all those options?

This. Christ.

Crono dies no matter what and gets revived no matter what, even if you don't do the sidequest, the party still sets off to revive him in the ending, so I'd say that's canon.

>canon is horseshot
>game devs bothered making a canon

ill never understand try hard "it dont matter hurp derp" types. if there was no point in story then they would have never made a story tard

>it happends no matter what

sauce

magus also sets out after schala no matter what ending that you save him but it never really happens in the canon

>have to refuse to save her to get best character

There's a difference between a story not mattering and canon not mattering, user.

Dirge of Cerberus is absolutely Canon to FF7, but it's a piece of shit that isn't worth your time. Meanwhile, Radical Dreamers is no longer canon for Chrono, but it's absolutely worth reading. "Canon" doesn't mean shit, it's just brand management and trying to simplify things for people too stupid to accept branching stories.

>thinking glenn has anything on best man pierre

Radical Dreamers is semi-canon.
It's referenced in Cross as one of the existing alternate timelines.

Might as well be anyway since it's far better written than Cross and Square never did a third game.

hello

Cross IS not Canon to Trigger!

Fuck off

>so what is the canon story line for this geimu?

the abomination known as Chrono Cross

Well first, only the 2 endings that you would get in a normal playthrough count because all the other ones are meant for NG+ and are unobtainable otherwise unless you do some extreme grinding, so going by the main story, you can't avoid Crono dying to Lavos, and you can either choose to beat the game without him or go and do the sidequest to revive him, if you revive him you get this ending youtube.com/watch?v=VARJiYx0JUQ (this ending has multiple variables, but is mostly the same with each of them) or if you don't revive him you get this ending youtube.com/watch?v=1D02VoRn5pc

Either way, Crono lives.

nuh uh

>Cross IS not Canon to Trigger!

It's a direct sequel. It's canon

I mean that's kind of what I'm getting at. Canon doesn't matter because stories only matter as much as the audience allows. You wouldn't suddenly disregard the Mother Brain sidequest just because Square deemed it noncanon, right?

I'd argue Serge and Harle are better than Glenn, but Serge is the MC, and Harle leaves the party, so Glenn is the best character you can recruit at least. Also Macha. Why the hell that fat middle aged mama is so damn strong?

So is DMC2, FF4TAY, Castlevania Legends, etc.

Yeah but Cross isn't trash

at least with DMC2 it's the farthest in the timeline

>Yeah but Cross isn't trash

Yeah. Crossis utter shit, which is worse than trash

How did it get to that from this?

because Cross was shit

Misaligned QPUs are nobody's fools.

>tfw I'm the only one that used Marcy

Nikki is best boy.

CTDS tried so, so hard to clear up those loose ends.

What was the actual explanation for the Dream Devourer anyway? I can't remember.

>Thread about Trigger
>Crosstards have to come in and start spouting crap about their crappily written mess
Kill yourselves already for fucks sake.

Lavos met up with Schala in who the fuck knows where and merged

It was obviously meant to be Chrono but they were too incompetent to program more than 5 letters for names so it had to be cut down to Crono.

The thread was about what the games canon ending is, and since there's a sequel it'll naturally be a part of the discussion.

Something something Lavos absorbs Schala.

>merged

youtube.com/watch?v=_F-2k_23yaA

Also Dalton is involved somehow...because...
???????

It was an attempt, but you can't make it work.

>It's a thread about Chrono canon

and that sadly means Cross shitposting

I still don't know why Schala powered up Lavos so much when her magic stems from Lavos' own power.

What is with this theme of Japanese RPGs and people merging or absorbed? What's the thought process there?

one thing that always bugged me was the invasion ending on trigger, crono and co were strong enough to kill a planet destroying space parasyte, but got killed by a bunch of foot soldiers?

>one thing that always bugged me was the invasion ending on trigger, crono and co were strong enough to kill a planet destroying space parasyte, but got killed by a bunch of foot soldiers?

Welcome to Cross' horrible writing

Needs a Braazers logo.

Because Cross had a 2deep4u ending where an emotional appeal led to their rebirth in modern Japan.

Cross is a shining example of what was going wrong at Square. They were moving towards Moffat style "fuck you it works" writing in a vain attempt to continue looking like they knew how to write nuanced stories and adding complications to their gameplay without considering what purpose it would serve. They're STILL doing this shit to this day and it's hurting them.

Don't forget, an army of normalfags brought up by fucking Dalton of all people.

What is this game? I'm tired of indie devs making 'le retro pixelgrafics'

To create a villain that is a cunt but also something the player don't want to immediately murder on sight, at least not before considering the consequences.

I never played cross
what happens to Crono and Friends

Those events never happened in Chrono Cross though.

It's literally part of their creation myth, for one. Go read up on Izanami.

Second, it's meant to add drama by placing something you value in distress in a more complex way than simple kidnapping. The characters can't simply save them via brute force; they must grow as people, emotionally, and learn to better understand each other.

That's the idea, at least. The execution is almost always shit.

They all die, except Robo I think.

Robo dies in-game
He's referred to as Prometheus

Robo dies too.

Chrono Trigger

a SNES game.

except they fucking did.

Robo is the AI locking the door to the frame that gets deleted

It's a time travel story about changing history. Every ending is canon.

They die horribly for fucking with time.

Why was Magus looking for Schala at the end of Chrono Trigger? She was left at the bottom of the ocean. She used the last of her pendant's power to warp Crono and the gang to safety. She was completely spent, and probably got crushed by the Ocean Palace or drowned.

So why does he search in vain? Cross explanations need no apply.

>Feel like playing again
>Know the game way too well so it would be piss-easy
What do I do bros?

how does my fucking boy die

We don't get to know what happened to Crono and Marle in CC.

Timey Wimey Wibbly Wobbly

>how does my fucking boy die
not mentioned,

they died between games. You see their ghosts.

>So why does he search in vain
Because it's his fucking sister and the only other being in the whole world and through the ages that actually fucking loves him.

Frog and Ayla don't get fucked over because they are in the past. It's assumed they lived normally until they died of old age.

Frog also may or may not have NTR'ed King Guardia of the past too.

Just fucking play it again. Who cares if it's easy?

He doesn't.
Frog and Ayla are ok.
Magus too, probably.

It's heavily implied they died with the fall of Guardia

its wibbly wobbly timey wimey spacey wacey dumb faggot

Wait that was just Lavos' outer shell right?
Why does Time Devourer have no part of Lavos Core in its design at all?

I get he cared about her. But she's DEAD. I don't see any motive for him, unless he's just gone hysterical and can't control himself.

Even one of the other characters is like "You're going to search for Schala aren't you?" How did they figure that? Do they think she's still alive?

Reminder that Doan is a descendant from Guardia's line which implies that Crono and Marle survived the fall of Guardia.

Listen I don't give a fuck what Brit George Lucas calls it.

The ghost children are not them.

>Even one of the other characters is like "You're going to search for Schala aren't you?" How did they figure that? Do they think she's still alive?
They all knew he was a siscon faggot.

...

Why is Schala a tan blonde girl in a white dress when her defining features were her blue hair and purple robe

>I get he cared about her. But she's DEAD.
To be fair, between all the time fuckery there's the very slim chance that Schala got sent to another time period instead of dying.

T I M E
T R A V E L

Got, Cross was such a fucking piece of shit. Can't even get something so fucking basic as character design right.

Dream Devourer is into blondes.
