OK. I know this is minor, but this sold me on how good this game is. The subtlety of this secret was awesome. Wasn't painful to find but required some degree of critical thinking, and it revealed itself in such a creative fucking way.

The game in general is just polished af. I haven't run into a single bug or graphical glitch.

finally. someone redpill me on the wrench please

Do this

And that

the unpopularity of this game is criiminal. why is Sup Forums so contrarian about this game again? serious answers only?

How did they not get spotted while not sneaking? If you're sprinting like that won't the phantom just turn around?

is it cracked?

Highest stealth upgrade makes sprinting silent.

what am i seeing here?

No kidding. Looks like I know what build I'm gonna run

You realize there was another Looking glass screen in the room where you would have seen the hiding spot way better?

I'm not 100% certain but it seems like screens in Prey act as windows. Rather than being screens that display a 2D image, you can look "inside" and "around" a screen, so videos are recorded 360 degrees in all directions. The screen in OP is in the lab of this old guy. If you check his e-mails, you notice some very odd requisition requests to his peers. I checked them first and it didn't really make sense. If you watch some stored playback videos on the screens in his labs, you notice him do some weird shit if you stick around for long enough after the last video. OP's not a great angle but you spot him fiddling with the stuff he asked for in the cryptic e-mails. It reveals a secret. It's not that impressive. There are better ones later..

>mfw I didn't watch the looking glass, randomly picked the cup up, randomly launched it through the room and it landed right in the spot
felt fucking magical, I thought I've found something 0,001% tier.
But then yeah, he did it in the video and the magic was lost

people are tired of games like this

Honestly I do not know any game that's come out recently that has as much heart and attention to detail than Prey. The way gameplay all flows together and how they make the non-linearity work is so refreshing ? it's often really half assed but prey does it all differently. it actually feels like the devs have a respect for player integrity

oh neat, thanks for the info.
I've been on the fence, but i think i'll get it next sale.

It's surprisingly good. As someone who's been in a really long video game rut (no interest in playing / giving up after 1-2 hrs) this has relaly got me back into things. it plays a lot like system shock 2 and bioshock just really refined and crisp

some1 help this thing is fucking wrecking me

Tired of one of the smallest genre ? the only genre where most of its good games become cult classics ?

It's definitely not that, it's bad tastes, misinterpreting of a game's genre and the will to blame someone for the cancellation of Prey2 even if it's not the culprit as long as it hurts Bethesda. Also, Denuvo.

Holy shit this is me right now.
I played the shit out of the system shock and bioshock games. Last game that brought back that spark was Deus Ex MD. Prey looks pretty similar so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Shotgun to the face helps.

holy shit. what's your build? mobility, security weapon damage?

it looks like a "craft 200 neuromods at the beginning" build

That part was so great

youtube.com/watch?v=0m59zi6lYWc

Pretty much yeah.
Also combat focus for some fucking around.

in all honesty i personally prefer the aesthetic of bioshock over ss or prey because of its novelty, but i prefer prey's over system shock's. it's a very clean kind of sci fi that feels warm and homey (ss was cold and metallic and very tech-heavy), which makes it just that much more harrowing and creepy as you walk through its massive empty atriums full of corpses and abandoned posts

also i love the fem mc she's really gorgeous

call it a weird theory but i figure if someone enjoyed the combat enough to webm that shit then i figure it's gotta be redeeming to some degree. consider me interest peeked.

So who wants to play the real prey?

>nexusmods.com/prey2017/mods/1/
Reading this gave me anxiety.

Well from the description, the mod restores a lot of the cut stuff the game was going to have. Traumas that need different medicines, junk items, limited fabrication licenses over looted items, etc.

I love Prey but reading what it could have been makes me sad. They really dumbed it down.

So is anyone in this game alive? Besides you and Alex? I'm getting really lonely.

There are three windows that let you look in different directions, dingus.

Yes, there are penty of other NPCs.

It's scary. I mean, the mod seems to do a good job at returning things to how you wanted? I guess I'm just a delicate lil casual.

I played Prey at launch. A lot of the bugs I encountered were more near the end. Biggest one I encountered froze the game, and caused the framerate to dip from 140 FPS to 50 FPS with massive stuttering even on old saves or after rebooting. I had to install my Nvidia driver before it would work like normal.

Despite all that, I enjoyed it a lot.

I think we can all agree that Alex did nothing wrong

feeding hundreds of Russian political prisoners to aliens isn't wrong?

Yes, neither was commoditizing completely harmless alien matter and selling it to people on earth so that they can inject it into their brains

Do aliens respawn in an area while you're in it? Or only when you transition between maps?

What the fuck.

What?

No, I'm 99% sure enemies only respawn when you revisit areas after certain story triggers, e.g. the lobby will be repopulated once you've fixed the looking glass servers

I have yet to install a typhon mod other than telekinesis across 4 playthroughs because I'm a boring human.

Doesn't help that you have to swallow alien cum constantly to use the abilities while the human ones are mostly passives.
I have yet to find the chip which regenerates psi over time.

Man what were you guys doing? I had so many neuromods, I ran out of human skills, and had to start dumping them into typhon, just to use them on something.

god i love the mystery in this game. just contacted someone called december and i'm so curious as to wtf is happening like REALLY happening

prepare to be disappointed

i figure it's not a good idea to mouse over that :\

Something else I like about the game is just how good the map is. It feels good to play a game where the map feels like it was designed by someone with a functioning brain.

The "twist" in this is very different from SS or Bioshocks That's all. Personally the ending didn't sit quite right with me.

>tfw the idea of being overpowered in games makes you feel both safe and horny
phew

I wanted to play through the game going pure human, the only reason I took telekinesis was I didn't know you could interact with buttons and consoles with the toy gun

That's interesting coz honestly so far, I'm not sure about the story, but the dialogue and narrative have already surpassed bioshock and system shock for me. it feels as if they've expanded upon those games to deliver something more subtly but in a more intriguing way. desu I was never really that concerned with what was going in system shock, and bioshock had me stuck thinking about what was directly in front of me, maybe because of the nature of its level design. but prey has me speculating about everything and wondering what I'll find in all these different sections and stuff . it seems like it just doesn't bombard you with too much narrative or exposition at once. hopefully the story doesn't drop in quality too much.

A minor thing I liked about this game was that the the protagonist(s) were Asian and there's no focus on it. They just happen to be Asian and it's not part of the plot, you don't have to learn ancient nippon skills, and the devs weren't making it into a big thing and shouting up about how Asians aren't represented enough.
If people do this without making a big deal out of it then everyone's cool with it.

Think we'll see a sequel? When you think about how the game ends, they could continue it, or even make a prequel.

I liked this too. they were Chinese and there were a few subtle hints at it, like red Chinese New year pocket things in your simulated apartment and stuff

Oh yeah the story telling is good I just think it kinda falls apart at the end when DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE GAME You're just a typhon experiencing a simulation of Morgan's modified memories

>The game in general is just polished af. I haven't run into a single bug or graphical glitch.

heh

I thought it was okay. Not great, but fine.
Spoilers!
Instead of being a human and seeing how monstrous you'd turn out, you're a monster seeing how human-like you'd end up in that situation. I kinda saw it coming, since I first tried escaping in the escape-pod - you get a game over and hear your brother say something like "this one is no good, get another one". Still, not a bad ending at all. I mean, what's the alternative? You escape and make it to earth and everything's fine?

Oh, and could you please calibrate this for me?

Yes I had the same experience with the escape pod, that's probably why the ending didn't do that much for me.
Also spending 8 minutes shooting GLOO at the boss waiting to die to see both endings.

Yes.
But it's deserves the 40$ I paid.

Survival patch when?
I heard there was one in the works.
Repairable weapons, oxygen bar in space, limited blueprints etc.

I hope they show a DLC/Extension at E3, I want to go on the moon.

I thought the ending was great because it plays into the central theme of the game; empathy. We're led to believe that the decision that matters is whether or not we blow up the station, but it turns out it's how you treat the people left alive.

DESU I went nuclear near the end because I couldn't take the piss stained station and hundreds of enemies in every single corner
I'll try giving a shit about the NPCs next time I play.
